Chapter Eight: The Epilogue!

Two months later...

Cyborg sat at his computer in his room, his metallic fingers tapping the keyboard rapidly. On the glowing blue monitor in front of him, text scrawled across the screen. He had been up late last night writing, and hadn't moved from his chair all morning, forsaking food and videogames to continue what he was sure was his masterpiece.

The door to his room slid open and Beast Boy bounded in. Cyborg barely glanced at him; he didn't even tell the grass-stain to stay out of his room.

"Dude!" Beast Boy said by way of greeting. "We've been wondering where you were! It's like eleven. Don't you want breakfast with us? Er, lunch?"

"Can't eat," Cyborg told him shortly, still typing. "I gotta finish this chapter, man."

"But what about our game match? Robin's too busy working to play with me!"

"Later, BB!" Cyborg's voice flared up with annoyance. "I'm getting really far on this."

Beast Boy walked over to Cyborg, head tilted slightly as he studied the computer screen. "What you doing?"

"Writing," Cyborg said shortly. "It's a fanfic."

"You wrote a fanfic?"

"Yeah. So?" Cyborg sounded slightly defensive. "I write them sometimes. But this one's different from my usual fics."

"How's that?" Beast Boy asked as he peeked over Cyborg's shoulder.

"Well, I decided to do a satire. That's where you make fun of something or present a serious issue in a sarcastic or less-serious way. You know, to prove a point or teach important lessons to the people reading it. So I'm purposely writing really bad to grab the reader's attention. I'm not capitalizing everything or spelling everything right and almost everyone is completely out of character. So the story is really a parody too." Cyborg suddenly laughed. "Man, you should see this monster! It's all melodramatic and contrived and stuff. I cringe when I read it, and I wrote the darn thing!"

"Yeah, but what if the readers don't get that it's a parody satire thingy?" Beast Boy asked him. "And the stuff you're trying to teach them and all?"

Cyborg shrugged. "Not my fault. Besides, I think they get it.

At least, I hope they do..."
