DISCLAIMER: I am making no money off of this, and this site isn’t either. This is purely fan-fiction written by a weird person who has absolutely nothing better to do than write this stuff. I don’t own Harry Potter, Hogwarts, etc. J.K.R. does.

A/N: Just a short bit of fluff. FYI, the person in question is Ron. At least, that’s who I was thinking it would be, but feel free to pretend…

Luna mused over her predicament as she walked through the garden at Hogwarts. She was madly in love, yet she had not even the remotest amount of a chance with him.

She realized her dire need to forget him, to forget him entirely and for good. There was, she knew, no other alternative.

'Love shouldn't hurt this much.' she thought, bitterly, tears coming into her eyes again, blurring her vision until she stumbled over her own feet. She got up again from the ground, looked around to make sure no one was around, and continued on her dismal way.

As she walked around the gardens, she saw a rosebush shining in the silvery moonlight. The thorns, silhouetted in it, were curved and sharp. They cast short shadows across the mossy lawn.

She had heard of people who hated themselves and their lives so much that they would cut their wrists, causing them to bleed excessively, just to express their mental anguish. Luna had always wondered why they would do that. More out of curiosity than anything else, Luna grasped one of the stems of the roses, and, with her other hand, broke off one of the thorns. She then proceeded to roll up her sleeve a little bit and scratch herself gently on the underside of her arm.

Long streaks of red puffiness greeted her eye. Biting her lip unconsciously, Luna applied more pressure until she was actually drawing blood with every long scratch.

Luna felt all of the pain she experienced almost flooding out of her with her blood. Her head grew lighter, and though her arm hurt dreadfully, Luna felt her worries diminish on to oblivion. This was nothing like she had ever experienced. She knew this easy peace and rest in her mind was as close to heaven as she would be getting for a long, long time. Though, really, she thought aloud, what was death? Just this peace forevermore, that was all. If she died, she would no longer be under the horrible torture of watching the man she loved love someone else wholeheartedly and blindly.

'But these are dangerous thoughts, Luna' Luna’s conscience told her sternly. 'You must live. You have so much to live for. You are not allowed to die.'

'I don't care anymore,' Luna retorted to herself. 'I just don't care.'

With that, her mind completely blanked out, and she slipped to the gravel beneath her with a sigh. She had fainted.
