Keys lock and unlock. It's a common fact. If one wants to keep one's diary away from the prying eyes of one's parents, one locks it. If a safe needs to be opened, one unlocks it. If one's hurting inside, but is too proud to admit it, one locks it away. If one finds that the hurt is too much, one unlocks it again.
What if one had a key that unlocked hearts? One would surely use it to the fullest advantage, right? A person should never have their heart locked away from them. However, what if, for every heart freed, one's enemy grew stronger and more confident? What if one's job, freeing hearts, was used against one? Should one continue to free hearts, or should one think about one's own safety, dreams, and well-being, and leave the hearts locked away? Should innocent people be sacrificed for one hero's cause?
It's pointless to even ask.
When one is faced with a choice of the lesser of two evils, one chooses the outcome that best helps the innocent. If that outcome also helps out the enemy, then so be it. One must then rise to the challenge and overcome it. It is a law that binds all heroes.
It is simply what one does.

Just a random thought that came to me while I was playing Kingdom Hearts II.
