Disclaimer: Butch Hartman, not me, can I stop now? This poem is rated G by the Motion Picture Association of America. Another "character as form" bit, this is a tanka. Tanka are related to haiku, having five lines of syllables 5-7-5-7-7. They were usually love poems, especially from women to their current or desired lovers. The first three lines are basically a haiku, then in the last two, the natural image is linked to an internal feeling of the poet. Strict control masking strong emotion... sound like anybody we know?

Love's Flight

The bone-white full moon
Traces the black, windswept sky
In an arc of stars.
O you silver-bright darkness,
My heart soars there beside you.
