Living in the Sunlight

It was that time again. Kagome had gone back to the present to buy supplies for her time in the feudal era.

Naturally, Inuyasha was waiting at home for her to show up so they could go to the feudal era together.

While Kagome was busy shopping, she noticed a can of beer in the Ramen aisle. 'That's strange? Why is that there?' she thought.

She took no thought on the matter. She took it off the shelf so she could put it back in its own aisle.

While she was about to return it to its rightful shelf, she remembered Inuyasha saying once that he had always wanted to taste an alcoholic drink. He just never had the courage to get one himself.

Kagome knew that beer had the least alcohol of all alcoholic drinks, so she decided to buy it just so Inuyasha could see how bad alcohol was.

The two returned to the feudal era with their supplies as Kagome handed out the groceries to her friends.

She gave Shippo some candy, Sango and Miroku a bento box, and Inuyasha a bag of potato chips and a cup of ramen.

As Inuyasha finished the potato chips happily, Kagome handed him the beer can and asked, "Do you want to wash the salt down?"

Inuyasha took the can and asked, "What is this?"

Kagome smiled and answered, "You know how you always wanted to try alcohol? Well, that's the most popular of all alcoholic drinks. It has less alcohol than most, so you should be able to handle it more easily than most."

Inuyasha had learned from Kagome's 'teachings' how to open a can such as this, so he gladly opened up the beer can. He took a sip and spit it up in disgust.

"Ew! That's disgusting!" he exclaimed. "Wait… I find it strangely addictive."

He chugged down the rest of it without thinking and his face suddenly started to change. His eyes became more sparkly, his face lifted into a heavenly smile and his cheeks became rosy red.

The group stared as the half-demon started to prance around. Soon, Inuyasha started to sing.

The group stared as he started, "I'm so happy, ha-ha! I just go my way, living everyday!"

He started to prance off as Sango asked, "Where's he going?" Kagome shrugged.

"I don't worry. Worrying won't agree. Things that bother you will not bother me!"

He skipped across the town in a dream-like state as everyone stared.

"Things that bother you never bother me, I feel happy and fine! Living in the sunlight, loving by the moonlight, having a wonderful time!"

People continued to give him awkward stares as he continued.

"Haven't got a lot, I don't need a lot. Coffee's only a dime. Living in the sunlight, living in the moonlight, having a wonderful time!"

Inuyasha soon pranced out of town. His brother, Sesshoumaru soon came into view. Sesshoumaru stared in horror as Inuyasha started to twirl while singing the following:

"Just take it from me; I'm just as free as any daughter. I do what I like just when I like and how I love it."

Sesshoumaru's eyes bulged out as Inuyasha pranced over to him and shook his hand in a gentleman fashion and pranced off singing his little tune.

"I'm here to stay when I'm old and gray, I'll be right in my prime! Living in the sunlight, loving by the moonlight, having a wonderful time!"

As he hummed the rhythm rather loudly, everyone he passed simply stared and asked, "Why is that demon so happy?"

"Just take it from me; I'm just as free as any daughter! I do what I like just when I like and how I love it!"

After some time, he had somehow managed to prance right back to where Kagome and they others were as he continued his song.

"I'm right here to stay when I'm old and gray, I'll be right in my prime! Living in the sunlight, loving by the moonlight, having a wonderful time!"

He sat down as his drunken phase ended and he fell into a deep sleep.

"I'm never giving him anything with alcohol ever again." said Kagome. The others nodded in agreement and finished their lunches.
