Chapter twenty two Saying Good bye

Several years have passed in this place. I no longer bother to keep track of everything that happened every day in this place. I only write down the things I feel are important to mention. After our first heist and our first punishment a few weeks had passed and spring finally came once more. The snow had melted enough where we once more could get visitors to this place.

As soon as the snow had melted two adults had came and picked up Josie Chris and Jackie. They where to old to stay here and was being moved to a teen shelter. The younger kids cried to see Josie and Chris leave. The only one upset to see Jackie go was James. The others where pleased he was gone. Without James leader he no longer picked on anyone which the others where happy about. But soon they felt sorry for him because James started to become depressed. I walked over to him.

“Come to make my life even more miserable Cooper,” he said bitterly.

“No I came to try and cheer you up.”

He was surprised when he heard me say this.

“The other kids would like you if you wasn’t such a bully to them and Vicky would even like you if you where nicer.”

This caught his interest and he finally looked up at me.

“But I don’t know how to be nicer to the others,” he said sadly.

“I could teach you how to but only if you promise to stop picking on me and everyone else.”

He nodded his head. So during my free time between classes I was teaching James how to treat people better. The other kids started to like him more and he had more friends then he once did, even Vicky started to fall in love with him which made him happier. The guys had helped me teach James how to be nicer to others. By now rumors had spread about the heist we pulled and each story on how we stole the cookies and how we where punished for it got wilder with each telling. The teachers kept a close watch on all of us from now on but I knew that wouldn’t last for long. Eventually they would be to busy to keep there eyes on us. But until that time we tried to stay out of trouble as much as possible.

I was pleased with how well James had changed. He was helping a lot of the younger kids with things and he even carried some of Vicky’s things and did a lot of other gentlemen type things towards her which made Vicky love him even more. She practically followed him around every where now. James was quite happy with his love sick shadow. I was glad to finally have her stop crushing on me and spilling things when I was near her. The only other holiday that came up was Valentines Day and the only reason why I bothering to mention this was because Nurse Bombay had announced she and her husband was expecting a baby.

A few other adults had come by some parents looking at the kids but none again had been adopted. Not many of the kids had there hopes up they where still a bit depressed from our dismal winter. Some had come to give donations to the orphanage like clothes and other things. Several months passed since Nurse Bombay said she would have a child and her baby had come. It was a boy and they named him Daniel. A new person came in to take over as the nurse. Mr. and Mrs. Bombay still stayed at the orphanage with there baby.

We had stolen a few other things but nothing as big as the plan we had when we stole the cookies. This place was no fun anymore and it wasn’t much fun or any honor in stealing anything in this place. After all they where not master criminals so it was time we said good bye to this place for good. Bentley went over several plans with us on how to escape this place. Finally we came up with one; we would sneak out while everyone was asleep. We had watched some where out of sight and saw how to disable the security system. It was easy enough to do.

After several months we had it all worked out and that night we would escape. Everyone was in there beds and we silently walked down the hallway. We disabled the security system and the unlocked the door. None of us looked back after I had closed the door behind us. The only things we had was a few supplies we had taken over the years like flashlights and a little bit of food. Some bottles of water, my hat, my cane, the red back pack I had been given held all this stuff. The last thing in there was this note book. Once I got the thieviouse raccoonus back all of what I had written in the pages would be recorded in there.

We found some place to hide in an abandoned wear house. The next morning we knew the cops would search for us so we kept out of sight and well hidden. After several weeks they finally gave up the search for us. They had more important things to do then look for some run away orphans. Some days I would go out and hide somewhere where I could watch Carmelita. Ever since that first day I saw her I had fallen in love with the young vixen. I would wish I could talk to her but there was no way I could. She would tell her father and I would end up back in the orphanage and they would be forcing me to tell them where Bentley and Murray was and we would all be in trouble for running away. Once we had reached our teen years we had finally made ourselves a home. A very impressive safe house filled with more gadgets then an electronic store. Bentley was quite the genius with some of the things he came up with.

He also set up himself a screen name on a website he found for thieves called thief net. I would go out and steal some priceless artifacts and he would sell them for major cash on thief net. We made a nice living for ourselves. Things where great but my mind started to think about my parents. Would I ever be able to avenge them one day and bring down the ones who murdered them? Would I ever get my family book back? Soon after so many years after my parents had died Bentley found a clue that would lead us to the Fiendish Five. A case file on my family that was in Police Head Quarters. Finally after all these years I will keep my promise to you both I will take back what is rightfully mine and the Cooper name will live on. My newest adventure starts at Police Headquarters and this story about my childhood is finally finished.
