When the Stars Go Blue

Summary: AU. Brooke’s pregnant with Lucas’ baby after finding him with Peyton she decides to runaway and she runs away to a friend she hasn’t seen in so long, Jess Mariano.

Author’s Note: I have wanted to do a GG/OTH crossover with Jess and Brooke as the main couple instead of Lucas and Rory for so long. This is my first attempt and I hope you all like it and please review. Thanx.

Prologue: My Best Friend

10-year-old Brooke Davis stared at her mother and father in disbelief, they were leaving New York? Why? Why couldn’t they stay? What was she going to do without Jess, her best friend ever? The little brunette girl began to sob loudly and ran into her bedroom flopping herself on her bed she began to cry hysterically. Eventually she calmed down and climbed out of her window, deciding she had to say goodbye to Jess before she left forever. Maybe Mommy and Daddy will let me come back and visit with Jess when I’m not in school or on vacation Brooke thought as she raced down the street she knew so well.

After ten minutes of walking the busy downtown Brooklyn streets Brooke arrived at her destination a small rundown modest looking apartment building. Smiling she tucked strands of her hair behind her ears and rubbed her hands up and down her arms to warm up before she walked up the familiar stoop and then she walked inside. Taking a deep breath she walked up to the super of the building Mr. Jansen to ask him if Jess was home.

“Mr. Jansen, is Jess home?” Brooke asked.

“Yeah, he’s upstairs. Go on up, Brooke. Hey, do your parents know you’re here?”

“No,” She answered truthfully, “But can you tell them I am? Please, Mr. Jansen I really need to see Jess. It’s really important.”

“All right, I’ll give em a call. Go run upstairs before I change my mind.”

Brooke quickly scurried up the stairs and found her destination apartment 3B on the second floor. She knocked on the door and waited for Jess or is mother Liz to answer the door. The door opened and to her surprise there was a man standing there that she didn’t recognize. Smiling politely at him she took a deep breath and introduced herself.

“Hi, I’m Brooke Davis. I live a couple blocks away. Um, is Jess Mariano home?”

“Jess! There’s some girl named Brooke here to see you!” the man shouted.

Jess immediately forgot about the adventures of Krumb, Ickis and Oblina and rushed out of the livingroom to greet his friend who was still in the doorway. Upon seeing each other the two children embraced and as Jess was about to let go Brooke pulled him closer to her not wanting to let him go. She was so scared about moving to this new place called Tree Hill. In Tree Hill there would be no Jess and how would Brooke go on in a place with no Jess?

“Brookie what’s wrong?” Jess whispered.

“I’m moving away,” the little girl choked back a sob, “My Mommy and Daddy bought this big house in a place called Tree Hill and we’re moving.”

Jess couldn’t believe it, they couldn’t her parents couldn’t do this to him. They couldn’t take his Brookie away. What was he going to do? How was he going to survive without her? He then reciprocated Brooke’s tight hug with one of his own and the two small children stayed like that for so long you thought nothing could break them apart, not even the jaws of life.

“You’ll always be my best friend.” Jess whispered kissing Brooke’s head.

“You’ll always be my best friend, too.” Brooke said softly.

They parted ways neither knowing they would meet again in the most unlikely of places and situations. As the years went on Jess thought about Brooke somewhat and vice versa but both of them still had pictures of each other and occasionally they would even call each other on the phone. It was hard on both of them being separated at first but as the years went on after they were reunited it was even harder to separate them. Your best friend is always there no matter what and Brooke Davis and Jess Mariano could attest to that when they meet up again six years after their departure in Brooklyn that fateful summer afternoon.
