This is a short (very short) little vignette in accordance with the 155 word challenge I've seen floating around the web in LGM news groups. If you've never seen the television show 'The Lone Gunmen' it won't make much sense, but here's a quick run down.

The pilot episode of the show, which aired in March of 2001 dealt with a government plot to crash a plane into the World Trade Center.

That would never happen right? -bitter laughter-

My own opinions about the WTC tragedy were greatly affected by the airing of that show. The fact that the show was cancelled a few months to the day of 9/11 and the nature of the program itself make me think that perhaps there was a chance our government had a hand in the whole thing.

Don't take offense, it's just my opinion, and I'm entitled to it just as you're entitled to yours.

Clips of the show that are relevant to the plot are here- http/ suggest watching it before you read this if you haven't seen the show before. It's only about a minute of footage, you can stand the download time for that, can't you?

If this deviation gets any attention it'll most likely just be controversy, probably from people who lost family in WTC attacks or those who have family in the government or military. I'm okay with that, I'm only presenting this as an alternative way of looking at things, that and I wanted to write what went on inside the offices of LGM that morning.

Comment all you like, just don't flame me. It doesn't hurt my feelings in the least and only serves to make you look like an idiot.

Morning, September Eleventh 2001

The old rotary phone in the offices of the Lone Gunmen rang insistently, rousing one John Fitzgerald Byers from his slumber. With a stretch and a yawn, he reluctantly left his bed to answer it.

"Lone Gunmen Newspaper Group, Byers speaking," He answered the phone in his usual polite tone, expecting the voice on the other end of the line to belong to some crackpot who had just been abducted by aliens and willing to sell their story for the right price. After all, that was the type of call they usually received this early in the morning.

"John?"

The voice was that of Bertram Byers. This came as a surprise to Byers, his father was deep underground, hiding from the men who had tried to kill him twice.

"Dad? You're supposed to be in hiding why are you-"

"John, it's about Scenario Twelve D… They succeeded. The towers just fell."
