A/N: Hello all my readers! I had the sudden urge to publish an existing work I've been trying to finish for a while, I hope you enjoy it and read and review always! The only thing I can say about this work is that it was writen in honour of a very good friend of mine, and I do hope you enjoy reading it because I loved writing it.

Delaney padded quietly down the hallways of her parents’ West Vancouver house. Brown hair tinged with red, hung loosely around her neck, framing her face. Her chocolate eyes were fixed on the second story window which wouldn’t lock anymore due to the fact it had been broken earlier that year. She stood 5’5" and wore sweatpants with the words ‘field hockey’ written across the behind. Hung over her arm was a pink wool sweater, in case it got cold. Slung over her shoulder was a sports bag that held her beloved field hockey stick Walter and her bright pink ballet shoes and tutu. Glancing behind her towards her sister and parents’ bedrooms she made a fast dash to the window. She moved with cat-like grace, grace only a dancer could possess. She carried herself well also, and so with great elegance and poise, Delaney slid the window open, climbed out, scurried down the drainpipe and over towards an idle BMW purring quietly behind some bushes. Throwing the door open she flung her bag in first and swiftly climbed in after.

"Step on it Lilize, I need to get out of here." Delaney ordered, and the tiny car sped off into the afternoon.

30 minutes later the red car slowed to a stop just outside Malory’s Dance Academy. Lilize turned to Delaney and looked her straight in the eyes.

"Hey Delaney good luck in there. I know you’ll do great!"

"Thanks Lilize." Delaney gave her a huge bear hug, "I’ll tell you all about it when I’m finished."

"Deal." Smiled Lilize, "Oh…almost forgot…Had enough?" asked Lilize as she waved a box of cigarettes in front of Delaney’s face. Delaney grinned and nodded.

"Enough to calm my nerves."

"I’ll be back in two hours." Said Lilize as Delaney exited the car, "and don’t worry, you look beautiful and smell fine." Lilize winked and drove away, leaving Delaney by herself once again. Taking a deep breath Delaney opened the Dance Academy’s small glass door and a blur of sights, sounds, and smells descended upon Delaney. There were ballet girls everywhere, shoving each other out of the way in front of gigantic mirrors, which lined the small room. The excited murmurs filled the room as the smell of blush, lipstick, eye shadow, and hairspray permeated through the girls. Delaney put on her competition face and brought her bag over to locker #323, the number that was sent to her in the mail. Quickly dialling the combination, Delaney thrust open the door and tossed her bag inside. She pulled open the zipper and removed ballet shoes, tutu, leotard, and hair supplies. She quickly put them on with care and hurried over to the mirror where a group of girls stood talking. Delaney started to brush her hair and began to prepare herself for the audition that could change her life.

"I heard that there is a famous scouts here looking for a girl to be in a movie." Said a girl who was at least two heads taller then Delaney and had her bright red hair tie back into a bun. At the comment the group of girls surrounding her burst into excited giggles and Delaney rolled her eyes while putting on blush.

"Oh honestly…" she muttered under her breath.

"5 minutes until warm up girls!" Shouted a woman over the babble. "Be ready when I call you." As the woman left a new wave of excitement, nerves, and curiosity erupted. Heaving a deep sigh, Delaney stared at herself in the mirror and forced a smile. Smiling is mandatory, she thought, don’t forget to smile. Before she could turn around a pair of arms encircled her and two hands were pressed up against her eyes.

"Come on Sophy! Not before show time!" Scolded Delaney.

"Aw man, how did you know it was me?" Said Sohpy, who was a bit taller then Delaney but had the same body shape and straight brown hair, which was also tied into a bun. "Anyway man, it’s great to see you here. Good luck Dee!" Said Sophy as she and Delaney hugged one another.

"You too Sophy. It’s so great to see you here." Delaney said.

"You think I would miss this?" Asked Sophy as she swept her hand across the room. "Never!" The door was thrown open once again and the same woman stood there, just as before.

"Ladies! Ladies, it’s time for warm up please follow me. Quietly." Said the stern looking woman who wore a black skirt and a black shirt as well. Her heels clicked as they hit the floor and following behind, were the ballet girls who were forming a line in pairs. Delaney squeezed Sophy’s hand and together they left the small dressing room and followed the rest of the girls onto the stage.

"This is it." Whispered Delaney as she put on her smile. Sophy nodded and they both took their places for warm up.
