A/N: I decided to give this a shot, I've been a Thir13en Ghosts fan for a while now...so, here it goes. And it may be a lil' OCCish, but if that's the case, just bare with me until I get the characterization just right. :D

Summary: What if Arthur saved Dennis? What if the House wasn't completely destroyed? What if Cyrus was stuck on the spiritual plane? What if Dennis gained manageable control over his 'condition'? DENATHY (Dennis n Kathy)

Disclaimer: I do not own Thir13en Ghosts, if I did...Dennis would still be alive... :S

Chapter 1

"NO!" Arthur shouted as he shoved the glass out of the way. Dennis was on his knees, hand broken, waiting on the blow from the Ghost behind. Just as the hammer was about to strike his backside, Arthur tackled him out of the way.

"Get Up!" He shouted, hoisting Dennis to his feet. "Let's go!"

"Don't touch"

"Let's go! Behind the glass, NOW!" Arthur cursed. "Damnit! I'm not leaving here without you! Now let's move!"

Finally making it to his feet, still shaking slightly, Dennis made his way behind the glass, Arthur following close behind. Soon they saw the Hammer and the Juggernaut beating feverously on the pain of glass. "Please don't touch me."

"You're gonna haveta fight it!" He paused as he heard distorted foreign language. "What's that?"

"Oh shit, it's started."

"What's started?"

"The process, we've-we've gotta hurry."

They watched as the Hammer and the Juggernaut disappeared into thin air. That's when they saw Jean.

"Jean?" Arthur murmured, tears welling up in his eyes. "I'm-I'm so sorry."

"Go Arthur, get the kids."

Dennis didn't know what to say, all he could do was bow his head in shame. "And you...help him."

"What?"

"Help him..."

Her fingers touched the glass briefly, then she disappeared. Seeing the half-burned face of Arthur's wife made him feel defeated. This man was seeking his help, and he was the one who helped cause all of this. "I'm sorry, man."

"Look, can we concentrate on freeing my children?"

"DAD! HELP!"

"Bobby!" He turned to Dennis and grabbed his arm. "Let's go!"

"Don't touch..." He groaned and grabbed the back of his head. "Please, just lead and I'll follow."

"Then let's go!" Arthur shouted at him. "We've got to hurry!"

Dennis nodded and headed for the opening towards the main room. When they got there, Arthur couldn't believe what he saw. Standing before the swirling rings of the Ocularis watching them twirl. Putting on his glasses, he saw the ghosts standing around the eye, chanting along with the spells that were playing all throughout the house. He looked over his shoulder at Dennis. "This is it."

"No, it's not. Arthur, don't even think about it. You're the thirteenth ghost. You're the one who's going to start the process, not end it. Think about it!" Dennis stated. "There are twelve spirits there, you're the last one."

"But my children, Dennis!"

"I know about your kids, dammit! But listen to me! This just doesn't add up!" Sighing Dennis fell to his knees and started to shake. "You can't do it, Arthur. You're going to die, and so is half the world if you make that leap."

Suddenly Arthur saw movement out of the corner of his eye and looked to see his Uncle Cyrus standing their...battered and bloodied. If I'm the thirteenth ghost? He thought.

Soon he removed his glasses to see him still standing there. "You Asshole!" He shouted and ran towards Cyrus. "You let my kids go, you jackass!"

Several punches landed on his face, gut, and sides. Soon Arthur found himself on the ground with Cyrus leaning over him. "You meaningless bag of bones! I have dedicated my life to this creation. You will make that leap, you will create the Ocularis. That's why I chose you and your family Arthur. This is my creation, and your destiny. You will die!"

"Arthur, fight him!" He heard Dennis groan from his spot on the floor.

Soon the language started to get distorted and it sounded like turntables being scratched together on a record player. When Cyrus turned his head, Arthur tripped him and he landed face down bumping his head slightly and falling unconscious. During the struggle, Arthur had lost his spectral viewers and watched as Cyrus was lifted up in the air and beat against the walls violently then thrown into the eye, separating him into pieces.

Finally, after much struggle, he made it to his feet and stood before they eye, watching as the rings moved then recollected. However, he turned to Dennis first to see if he was okay. "Don't touch."

"I know, but you've gotta fight it!. I need your help!" Arthur shouted. "Now up!"

Dennis was still shaking as Arthur's hand was clasped around his wrist jerking him to his feet. His head ached as he felt his body convulse. He saw more images of Jean, Kathy, and Bobby. He saw images of Arthur's childhood, as he felt his body move in the air then land. "Hold on tight, everyone! Keep your heads down!" He had heard him shout through the blast of memories he was getting from all of them now. His headache increased, Kathy, Bobby, Arthur...backwards, forwards, and again. The fire, kids playing, Arthur's job, kids, more memories.

Finally the last of the shattering was over and Dennis fell back, only to be caught by Kathy. "What's wrong."

"Don-don-don't touch me, please..." Was his muffled reply.

"Dennis, get a hold of yourself...you've got to stay awake." Kathy begged.

Arthur hoisted him to his feet once more as they crossed the brief gap between the center of the eye and the rings. They saw Jean standing before them.

"I love you guys." She was beautiful, and had found peace. "I love you." Then she slowly faded away.

Dennis had fainted after his seizure had finally won him over. Kathy looked down on him and then looked back at her father. "What are we going to do with him?"

"We're going to take him home with us and make sure that he's okay. He's done a lot for us, he was about to sacrifice his life for us." He sighed. "Right after we take him to the hospital and get his hand re-set."

Kathy picked up his mangled hand and watched as Dennis convulsed once more and his eyes popped open. "Don't..." His eyes connected with Kathy's.

"Are you okay?"

"NO! I'm not okay!" He shouted grabbing the back of his head. "I'm sorry..."

Kathy just nodded and went to hug her father.

"We're going to take you to the hospital, get your hand fixed."

"It's okay..." Dennis trailed off at the thought.

"Seriously, you put our lives in front of ours, it's the least I can do."

That's when they heard Maggie from behind. "I'M SORRY FAMILY, GHOSTS, UNCLE, BUT I CAN'T DO THIS NANNY SHIT NO MORE I QUIT!"

"Maggie wait!" Arthur yelled out, but it was too late she had gone. "Great..."

"Arthur, um...I'll take you up on that offer. And I'll only do it for room and food."

"You've got yourself a deal."
