Summary: Post-Sin, episode 31. Four-year-old Melody Kimbley was told that her father was going to be executed. But he wasn't. Five years later, Kimbley breaks out of prison. Lt. Col. Frank Archer isn't above foul play to get Kimbley back on his side again; even if it means killing a child…
Author's Note: I have absolutely no idea where this came from. No idea. I WARN YOU! This will be really AU from all the episodes in the series past episode 32, because I've only gotten that far in the series so far…
Disclaimer: I own only Melody. Everything else belongs to Hiromu Arakawa.
"The hell with it," Kimbley muttered, staring back at Southern Headquarters as Bido ran off, screaming for their current leader. "It'd be easier if I just blew up this entire building." As he turned to follow the lizard chimaera, Kimbley heard a soft click- one he recognized quite well as a gun clicking. His eyes widened, and he looked up.
Perched on the building above was a man dressed in blue military garb. Sht, Kimbley thought. He recognized the man from the hallway earlier- the one that said he should have been executed years ago. He prepared to dodge if he needed to, subtly tensing. "Hello, I'm Lieutenant-Colonel Frank Archer. It's nice to meet the famous Crimson Alchemist." The man said, a vague smirk on his face.
"Yeah, you too." Kimbley mumbled. In reality, he was thinking, Who the hell does this guy think he is, acting all friendly towards me? I've blown up people twice his rank before… But since Archer made no move to shoot at Kimbley, the alchemist stayed put for the moment.
"Well, as Major Armstrong pointed out-" Kimbley assumed that Archer was referring to the bald guy with the muscles- "-You should be dead." And do you intend to make that a fact, Lieutenant-Colonel? Kimbley thought mockingly with a smirk. "By whose authority were you kept alive? Was it the Fuhrer, or did Basque Grande make that decision on his own?"
"Beats me," Kimbley shrugged.
"Do you have any intention of returning to your service in the military?" Archer asked. Kimbley barely held back a snort. Yeah, right; him return to that corrupt hell-hole that was commonly referred to in most society as the military. If you were high up and had connections, you could do just about whatever you wanted. It was useful if you had the connections, but if you didn't, then it was just annoying and sickening rolled into one.
Besides, Kimbley had become sort of fond of his new "family". Greed wasn't a half-bad leader. Kimbley was even beginning to bond with the chimaeras at the nest. Not to mention that the crazed bomber was finally beginning to make some progress with Martel, with whom he was smitten. Now, instead of attempting to stab him when he hit on her, Martel merely threw a knife at a point over his shoulder. Enough to make him flinch, but not give him any life-threatening injuries, which was a start…
Kimbley smirked and cocked his head in a clear "No", and Archer's expression became sly. "I can make it happen, if you want it to." He said. Kimbley opened his eyes and stared at the officer through slanted, golden eyes.
"I'll pass, thanks." Kimbley growled, jumping back at the anticipated gunfire. Good thing he did, else he would have taken a bullet to the chest. Dodging the attack, Kimbley quickly darted after Bido, who had long since made tracks through the city. From his perch on the lower roof, Archer lowered his gun an cursed.
