He hated running out of gasoline. It meant he had to walk in the God-forsaken heat the long distance between towns, and with a black suit toting an enormous cross-shaped bulk… it was not a pleasant experience.

Hence why every caravan that happened to pass his way became a target. He was a wandering priest, he said, and he was short on gas and money (which was true), and that he had to make it to the next town to bring important supplies to the orphanage in the next town (not true).

In truth, though, he’d probably change his mind.
