The Finale
Rogue stared hollowly as Magneto started to move the bridge with his powers. Here she was on the way to an actual war where she could be killed, and she couldn’t stop thinking about what she had just said to Gambit. She wanted to rewind time, make it so she never said something so blunt and stupid. He was probably scared now. The crazy untouchable girl was in love with him. No, he was probably laughing and then thinking of a way he could hurt her.
Rogue shook her head. No, Gambit wasn’t like that. He had never been mean to her and he wasn’t about to start. It was okay that she told him those words. It was possible he reciprocated her feelings. He spent all this time with her when she couldn’t even touch, and made her into this much stronger person.
She tried to shake him out of her thoughts, but she couldn’t clear her mind. She had to focus on the fight, but it was very difficult to stop thinking about him. She shut her eyes tight and thought about Bobby for a minute. Yeah, she was going to be up against him. There was no doubt about it that the X-men would be there to try and thwart the Brotherhood. They always were. That’s what they stood for.
She wasn’t making the wrong choice, right? She took a stand and chose this side. No, Pyro chose this side. He brought her here. She never really chose it. She just wanted to be alone, forget about Bobby and Kitty and just go through her life trying to forget she ever went to the X-mansion. Instead, she was on the side Pyro was on. He chose this for her. He pulled her over here. And now she had fallen in love with one of the members. She couldn’t change sides now. Not until she knew how Gambit felt at least.
Rogue was snapped back into reality by the sound of the bridge crashing onto Alcatraz. She almost lost her balance from the large bump they experienced. Magneto ordered the lesser Mutants to jump forward first. Rogue looked down, seeing a line of soldiers all ready with cure weapons. She turned to Magneto. He attempted to hurl them towards their own side with his powers, but they didn’t move. They were plastic guns. Rogue almost smiled. The humans weren’t as stupid as Magneto liked to think.
Rogue looked over to see what Pyro was doing. He was holding Scarlet Witch’s hand, all by the while of staring down at the ground, just waiting until he could get a piece of that action. Rogue swallowed hard. The mutants down there were getting cured and Magneto was doing nothing.
“Archlight.” Mystique spoke up. The unusual looking girl stepped next to her and Magneto.
“Use your shockwaves.” Magneto finished. The girl nodded and took off her gloves. She slid them inside her belt and rubbed her hands together. The mutants remaining on the bridge all stood back. She then smacked her hands rather hard and a splash of blue light omitted from them, causing a huge power surge to go across the battle field. Cure weapons were destroyed, and many of the humans became injured.
“Pyro.” Scarlet Witch began, squeezing his hand tighter. Pyro nodded, still staring down at the ongoing battle below. He wanted a piece of it. He wanted down there now. Magneto wanted him to wait, however. He wasn’t letting any of his stronger links go down into the battle. “If Iceman kills you, I’ll kill him.”
“He won’t kill me. Bobby doesn’t have it in him to kill me. We’ll probably just have a little fight in his mind.” He told her. She shrugged and stared down as well. She was beginning to feel unsure about whether she really wanted to go down there or not. This was getting more extreme, darker. Sure, she was for mutant equality, but did they have to actually have a war about this? She sighed, shaking her head. As long as Pyro or Quicksilver were not harmed, she didn’t really care what happened.
At the thought of her brother, she turned her head to find him. Of course he was standing next to X-23, bickering with her as always. She had her claws out and he seemed to be yelling at her. While this went on, Magneto did not look amused. Scarlet Witch hid a smile. It was like two small children squabbling over a toy.
“Good luck.” A voice spoke. Scarlet Witch looked next to her, seeing Psylocke and Quill walking toward Magneto. They collected Archlight as well.
“We’ll be back soon.” Quill nodded. The three then disappeared from the dilapidated bridge to go into the building in front of them. When the small group was gone, Callisto tapped Magneto on the shoulder.
“I sense more mutants.” she whispered. Magneto looked up at the sky, seeing the X-men’s jet hovering above the island. He smiled. The X-men would try to defeat the Brotherhood, but there were barely any of them left. Three of them had migrated over to his side. The fact that they were there, and without Charles Xavier was of no concern to him. They might try and attempt to hurt him, but they would fall quickly.
Rogue stared down as she watched Bobby and Kitty interact. Her eyes softened a little. She was upset that the two were together. It didn’t look like they were involved, but still. It was the memory of the kiss that wounded her.
Rogue stood very still as she watched the battle go on down below. She was starting to have the desire to be a part of it. She wanted to confront Bobby. She wanted to prove to him and to all of the X-men that she wasn’t a weak little girl who was always sad about her powers. She needed to do this, needed to show everyone just how powerful and strong she was.
Rogue looked over to Magneto, who was throwing cars, while Pyro lit them on fire to the ground below. She frowned and turned her head down again. Kitty was gone. It was just Bobby now. Of course, John would get to him before Rogue ever could. John had more pent up anger in his soul than she did. She could understand that. Bobby always seemed to have this aura that screamed “I’m better than you” to John. It probably drove him insane. She bit her lip and felt Gambit touch her shoulder. She gazed into his eyes and he smiled at her. He then jumped down into the ongoing battle. Rogue sighed. The second Pyro went down there, she was going to too.
Psylocke grinned as she jumped through the shadows, scaring the life out of the woman doctor and that Worthington man. They stared at her with fright. She let out a chuckle. It was amusing how terrified humans could be at the show of a little ability. Hell, the shadow jumping wasn’t even her most powerful ability. She could have used a little telepathy on them, but instead, she decided to just jump in out of nowhere. That seemed to scare people more.
It wasn’t long before she and Archlight picked up Worthington and tried to toss him out the window. Psylocke stepped onto the ledge, assuring her teammates to continue on with the doctor. She smirked, watching him fall. Now, there was the end to a bad man. Her ears perked up when she heard the sound of Quill crushing the doctor with his spikes. The end of the doctor made her even jollier than she was.
Her happiness disappeared when a blond male with wings flew down and picked up the man. Psylocke fumed and wondered if she could try and stop him. No, the shadow jumping wouldn’t help her here. She’d have to use good old fashioned telepathy.
Psylocke closed her eyes and a purple glow appeared around the outline of her face. She dug herself right into the winged man’s mind. Ah, so that’s why he saved him. He wasn’t a traitor to mutant kind or anything, he was the son. Psylocke began to smirk once again. His blond son. She placed her finger onto her chin and called out to him telepathically. He turned around and set his father down by the X-men’s jet. He then flew over to her, his eyes empty by her command. She looked at him, judging his appearance.
“Dashing, absolutely dashing.” She commented. She reached out to touch his face. The word to describe him would definitely be angelic.
“Uhhh.” He whispered. Psylocke sighed and let go of her powers. He just stared at her and shook his head. “What am I…you tried to kill my father..”
“Well, it was bound to be someone, Luv.” She shrugged. “Just be glad I was nice about it. I could have tried to kill him in a much more brutal way than just pushing him out the window. Much like my friend Quill and that doctor. A hug was all she needed.”
“You’re one of the bad guys, the one the X-men are fighting against.” He told her. Psylocke rolled her eyes.
“Why are the handsome ones always so naïve?” she asked herself. She folded her arms and stared at him. “I’m just making sure our kind doesn’t die out because of some ridiculous cure. I’m surprised your father hasn’t forced that upon you, Luv.”
“He tried.” He admitted. Psylocke tilted her head and checked out the rest of his body.
“What a completely ridiculous thing to do.” She snapped. She started to walk on the edge of the window ledge, which made the male get a little nervous. She could see the worry in his eyes that she would fall. This was making that grin of hers become even bigger.
“What’s your name?” he questioned.
“Psylocke.” She uttered.
“Do you have a real name?”
“My human name is Betsy Braddock, if that’s what you’re searching for.” She sneered.
“I’m Warren Worthington the third. You know, you can get down from there. You’re going to end up hurting yourself.” Warren spoke.
“Well I am one of the bad guys, as you say. What would it matter if I was to go splat all over the bloody pavement?” she challenged.
“I don’t know.” He admitted. Psylocke stopped walking and turned to look him in the eyes. She was enjoying herself. She then looked down below and jumped. She could hear Warren’s wings flapping madly to chase after her.
Merely a few seconds later, she had been caught in his arms. She smiled in delight, wrapping her arms around his neck.
“Guess it does matter.” She uttered. “You going to drop me over by daddy dearest?”
“No.” he said firmly. Psylocke looked to the ground below.
“Drop me down there?”
“I just saved you, why would I drop you?”
“I’m a bad guy.” She reminded him.
“You say that so much. It’s kinda lost meaning.” He whispered. Psylocke’s eyes widened.
“I like you.” She pointed out, holding on even tighter than she was.
Rogue eyed Pyro carefully. Scarlet Witch and X-23 had just jumped down towards the fight. X-23 was running to Wolverine, while Scarlet Witch hexed away random soldiers. Rogue could see Callisto and Storm fighting as well. She rolled her eyes. Pyro had to strike soon, or she was going to do it without him.
Quicksilver sped down to try and aid his sister. Rogue sighed. If Bobby wasn’t going to fight John just yet, she might as well get warmed up. She shut her eyes. It was time to use Carol Danvers’ powers. She didn’t want to, but she knew that she had to. She made two fists and hovered down into battle. She could see soldiers running at her the second she was down there. She sighed and let her gloves drop to the ground.

“I haven’t even seen ya before.” Wolverine protested as X-23 continued to strike him. She punched him in the stomach, right before kicking him over into the ground. She stepped on him and held her foot claw out, threatening to slit his throat. “And ya obviously don’t know me if you think that’s guna kill me.”
“I know it won’t, Wolverine. But just because it doesn’t kill you don’t mean it won’t hurt like hell. It will heal, but it will hurt.” She snarled, jabbing her claw into his shoulder. He yelped out in pain.
“Kid, more important things are going on.” He winced, grabbing hold of her foot. He yanked her away and tossed her over to the side. She landed on her feet most gracefully, still managing the same deadly glare she had been showcasing since she saw him on the battlefield.
She let herself up and charged to him, trying to stab him with a different set of claws. Instead, he caught her by her wrists. She growled and retracted them. She was going to have to do this the hard way.

John finally jumped down to the field as Bobby began to ice up the flaming cars. Rogue instantly caught sight of him heading towards the male. She flew over towards the two of them. Pyro was just about to throw a flaming tunnel towards Bobby, when she flew in between them. They both stared at her. Bobby was surprised to see her, while John just looked aggravated.
“You’re flying.” Bobby said, astounded.
“Rogue, get out of here.” John snapped. “You can deal with him when I’m done.”
“No. Bobby, you’re a jerk for kissing Kitty.” She hissed, folding her arms and turning to face him. “Yeah, Ah can fly. Ah’ve been livin’ a different life than you woulda suspected from me. Ah’ve been with John.”
“You and John are dating?” Bobby exclaimed, his face becoming pale. Rogue rolled her eyes.
“No, but Ah have fallen in love with someone else and they’re twice th’ guy you’ll ever be.” She sneered, pushing him over. “Ah jus wanted ta tell you that before John kills you.”
Rogue then started to fly away just as soon as she had come over. Bobby stared hard at her, in shock that she was going to allow him and John to fight. She even said kill. She wanted John to kill him.
“Sorry about the intrusion, Iceman.” Pyro yelled, snapping Bobby to look at him once again. A huge flame soon erupted from Pyro and headed towards him. Bobby gasped and tried to hold up a small little ice shield. It was barely holding. He winced as he felt the heat that was pouring from John’s flames. He couldn’t hold up the icy front anymore. John was actually going to win. He was letting lose. Bobby could hear him talking and taunting. He frowned. He had to beat him, he had to let loose too. It was time to show his former friend what his leaving had made him feel.
He could feel his body becoming covered with an icy sheet. He smiled and let a flow of an icy draft go towards John. He felt powerful now, more so than he had ever been. He grabbed hold of John’s wrists, freezing his powers. John looked up in horror. Bobby then kicked him back, shouting something about how he never should have left.
“PYRO!” a feminine voice screamed out. Bobby stood up and looked behind him. He was soon tackled by a female dressed in a lot of red. He looked up at the angry girl on top of him. Her fists were flaming a cold blue. Her eye colour seemed to match her powers. He gasped as she punched him in the face. “You better fucking hope he’s not dead, you son of a bitch.”
“I would never kill him!” Bobby protested. He frowned. “Wait, aren’t you the girl that was at the clinic with him?”
“Yes. I’m also his girlfriend. I also get pissy when people hurt the people I care about. Now you are going to pay for hurting him. You might wana shut your eyes. This is guna be long and painful.” She growled.
The battle was becoming more and more intense as the night raged on. Rogue felt a little better after telling Bobby what was what. She sighed. As long as he knew where she stood, it didn’t matter if she punched him out. She didn’t really want to either. It wasn’t like it would solve anything. Besides, John wanted to do that more than she ever would.
Rogue turned her head to see Gambit and Quicksilver up against a swarm of soldiers. Rogue rolled her eyes. She had enough. There was really no point to this fight anymore.
“Gambit!” she called as she approached the two of them. He smiled at her, but was flung back by the soldier he was trying to fight. Rogue gasped and helped him up. She glared at the human in front of them. She took a little of Gambit’s power and grabbed a card from inside his jacket. She tossed it at the man, making him fall over from the small explosion. Gambit looked up at her.
“I coulda handled dat.” He assured.
“Yeah, looked that way.” She mumbled. “Sorry about taking yoah powers. It was jus spur of th’ moment.”
“Y’ took my memories too, Cherie.” He told her. Rogue’s eyes widened, looking into what he was talking about. She had absorbed her answered. She knew how he felt about her now. It was almost a guilty feeling to have gotten her answer in such a way, but it wasn’t like he was going to say it out loud in front of all those people. No, he wasn’t that kind of person.
“Rogue, we better clear away, I don’t think the battle is getting any better. I think we’re losing. More soldiers are coming, and that Phoenix chick has been standing all silent for too long. Something is guna happen soon.” Quicksilver stated. Rogue rolled her eyes and pulled him over her shoulder. She then picked up Gambit by the hem of his jacket and shot up into the air.
“Ah’m getting you guys to safety. There’s no point in staying if we’re just guna get cured or killed..” She announced.
“Um, we gotta go back for my sister, and X-23!” Quicksilver pointed out. Rogue perked an eyebrow at the person he last mentioned.
“Ah know, and John too. Ah’m jus guna get yuh two to safety. Ah don’t want any one t’ get hurt. We were all stupid to go there. There’s no point to Magneto’s dream. It’s just endless fighting. Not against the humans, but against the X-men.” Rogue admitted. She continued on flying, holding a grip on Gambit, while Quicksilver continued to grasp onto her, careful of not touching her skin with his own.
After a few minutes, Rogue set them down across from Alcatraz, back on shore. She gave Gambit a small hug.
“Ah’ll go get th’ others. Stay here and don’ move.” She ordered. Both males nodded. Rogue bit her lip and held up her hand. “Quicksilver, can Ah have some of yoah power? It will get things done faster.”
He nodded and held out his hand. Rogue touched it for a moment and both people winced. Quicksilver tumbled back into Gambit. The Cajun slowly set his friend down and looked up at Rogue. They both gave each other a look before she took back off into the sky.
“No one hurts John. No one.” Scarlet Witch uttered, still standing over Iceman. Her hands were steaming from the hex bolts she laid on him. He was still conscious, and she was about to change that. The sound of Mystique yelping jerked her away. The witch noticed that Mystique and Magneto were both trying to fight the X-men. She could see Beast sneaking up behind them. She turned back to Bobby. What was more important? Telling that old man to look out or making sure this jackass didn’t touch John anymore. She rolled her eyes, the choice being obvious.
“Listen, he should be fine.” Bobby choked. “Just get off of me; you’ve done more than enough. I barely hurt him compared to what you’re doing.”
“It will get a hell of a lot worse if you don’t shut up.” She warned. She held her fist up once more. Again, she heard another yelp. Her eyes widened and she noticed Mystique falling over. Her body was reverting to a human state. Magneto fell right down beside her. They had both been cured. “Shit.”
She shoved Iceman out of the way and grabbed hold of Pyro. She began trying to drag him as far away from the battle as she could, but it wasn’t like she had anywhere to go.
“Scarlet Witch!” Rogue called out as she landed in front of them. A huge blast was heard, causing them both to look towards where Phoenix was standing. Things were really starting to heat up. Rogue bit her lip and picked up John.
“Get him out of here!” the witch ordered.
“I will, yoah comin’ too.” Rogue insisted. “Where’s X-23. Yoah brother wants me to grab her too.”
“I don’t know, I’ll find her, just get John out of here before he gets hurt. That stupid ice kid knocked him out and his hands are frozen. Just get him safe.” Scarlet Witch pleaded. Rogue was a little surprised to hear the girl call him by his real name. However, she said nothing and just nodded.
“Get X-23, Ah’ll be back foah ya both in a minute.” She muttered. The two then separated. As soon as Rogue was away from her, Scarlet Witch scanned the place for X-23. Of course, the girl was still in combat with Wolverine. Storm was sneaking up behind them to try and electrocute her. All by the while, Phoenix was up there beginning her creation of destruction.
Scarlet Witch looked to see where Magneto and Mystique had been. Magneto looked absolutely horrified. He had placed his cape around Mystique and the two were scrambling to get away from the place. Scarlet Witch groaned.
“X-23!” she screamed, hexing the girl away from Wolverine. X-23 growled at her and unsheathed her claws.
“Let me go, witch! He has to suffer!” she exclaimed.
“I don’t care. Get your ass up. Rogue’s coming for us in a few minutes and we have to get the hell off this island now. Almost all of the other mutants are dead but us. Phoenix has some power trip going on. I don’t even know where a lot of people are. Even Ice kid disappeared after Rogue approached me.” Scarlet Witch snapped.
“I am not going anywhere.” X-23 confirmed.
“You are so. My brother wants you to come with us. I don’t know why, he probably got some more brain damage during the fight. Now, c’mon before I hex you towards Rogue myself!” Scarlet Witch yelled. X-23 growled again, but the witch just ignored her. She grabbed the girl by the wrist and led her towards where Rogue had picked up John. The two hid behind some rubble that had been created during the fight. A few seconds later, Rogue hovered down. Scarlet Witch jumped on her back, while X-23 was picked up by her arms. Rogue quickly shot up into the sky. As soon as they were high up, they could see the explosions below. Something must have really ticked Phoenix off.
“There goes Alcatraz.” Scarlet Witch scoffed. Rogue nodded and looked the other way. Her eyes widened as she saw a winged man flying through the sky with a very recognizable woman in his arms.
“And there goes Psylocke!” she blinked. The other girls looked towards Rogue’s way.
“That was unexpected.” Scarlet Witch mumbled. Rogue just shrugged and flew the females back to where all the others had been placed. When they landed back on shore, Rogue dropped X-23 first. Surprisingly, Quicksilver gave her a quick hug, which was ended by her punching him in the stomach. Scarlet Witch then jumped off Rogue and ran over to a now conscious John. That only left two other people open.
The Southerners smiled at each other before going to stare at the mess that was formerly Alcatraz.
“Smart move getting us all out of dere.” Gambit told her.
“Well, Ah was usin’ common sense.”
“You talk to yer Bobby Drake?”
“Yeah. Ah think Scarlet Witch pummeled th’ shit outta him though.” Rogue smiled. Gambit nodded. He noticed a stumbling John making his way over, along with the rest of the mutants. He stood next to Rogue and looked down at her.
“What’s next? The X-men again?” he asked her. Rogue shook her head. She gazed at him, then at everyone around them.
“Ah don’t think so, John. Ah think we should all jus follow our own path instead of followin’ other people.” She admitted; completely unaware of what the future had in store for any of them, not that she cared. Logan had brought her to the x-mansion, and he was the reason she stayed. Pyro had brought her to the Brotherhood and she stayed for him and Gambit. Now it was finally time to make a choice that she wanted to
The End.
A/n: Wow, sorry for the late update, I wanted to finish one of my other fics before getting back to this one and school’s been a big bother for me too. I was guna wait till X3 was out on DVD to update this, but I decided that was too long of a time. I also decided to push everything into one final chapter and, you can probably see that I haven’t seen X3 in a bit. I wish I had, because I did want some things to be similar, but I made do with what I had. I will be writing a sequel to this, but it won’t be up for a bit. I’d like to thank everyone who read and reviewed this fic. It was surprising to receive so many reviews. Anyhow, I hope everyone liked it and please review
