Spirit's Past

As I sit and watch it,

Ravenous, bloodthirsty, gentle,

As I sit and think,

The flame burns bit by bit.

This dance is like my life,

Anger, sorrow, joy,

You are the light that shines,

Among this pain and strife.

This ritual is my soul,

Alone, vulnerable, pure,

To you alone I drop defences,

For you alone, make me whole.

This sadness is my own,

Bared, proud, scared,

But there you stand my angel,

As I cry, you take me home.

This joy belongs to us both,

Sacred, scared, suspense,

We fly on the wings of this world,

So to you I swear this oath.

I'm terrified of this way,

Winding, alone, unsure,

Eternity and you is all I want,

Me and you for all our days.
