Sirens blared.

Grumbling, a silver haired figure rolled over, and off the bunk. For one who wasn't asleep in the first place, she did a good job of acting like she had been, growling swearwords as she sat up, shaking her head. Her uneven silver hair resettled itself, uneven spikes jutting out at random angles from her head. The thin woman wore a loose, black dress shirt, half buttoned up, showing white-pale skin marked by silver vein-spirals and marred by scars, and loose pants that hung off her unhealthy thin frame. A glove covered her left hand, which wasn't as thin as her right. Grumbling some more, she wondered why she had been 'sleeping' in the bunk in the smaller cabin instead of the nice large, comfy bed in the larger main cabin. Then she remembered; she swapped sleeping cabins every few days to confuse people, and occasionally her self. So she sighed, this being one of the many times she didn't remember.

"Aurian, Wake up!" A young mans voice cut clearly over the sirens as the room shook. The woman, now recognized as Aurian, stood and walked over to a closet.

"A'right! A'right! I'm up!" She shouted, making a cutting gesture at the far wall with the first two clawed fingers of her right hand. The sirens silenced and she started fishing around in the closet with the other, gloved arm, reaching deeper and deeper than the closet should have been, until she pulled out a metal armband and a black trench coat. "Better." Her ears shifted as she put on the trench coat and slid the band up her right forearm, becoming long and very pointed. The left ear had a rough scar at the tip, a hoop running through it to connect to another hoop in the lobe with a thin chain, her right was more crooked than her left, and the very tip of it was gone, scar tissue forming the flat edge. The Elvish ears did nothing to her face which was already angular, with golden eyes and a crescent moon scar over the left side of her face, over the eye.

"So we are under attack" she muttered as she room shook again, her lips barely moving. Running out the door, she took a wrong turn before running the correct way to the main cabin of the ship.

"You're up." A floating screen bearing the image of a teens face with blonde hair and golden eyes greeted her. This was Aurian's helmsman, her ship's computer, her companion on long trips, and her A.I. unit. The far wall was covered most of the way up with screens that made up one big one. Some were salt-and-pepper static, other showed views of ships, missiles and explosions. One screen when out as the ship rocked. "We're running out of energy for shields and I can't recognize the markings on those ships!"

"Any planets nearby?" she asked as she vaulted the rail that separated the upper level from the main cabin. Landing lightly on her feet, she began typing on one of the terminals, redirection the ships remaining energy, until the ship shook again and she jammed her fingers. Waving her hand in pain, she didn't see the orange and green ship leave a near by planet that they were gliding really unsteadily by before the screen died.

"Need some help?"

i hate cliffhangers, but find it strangely pleasing to use them. Revamping, with Brazen-Spork-Theif as meh beta... i have troube keeping people in character, and she's good at it. :3
