Endless Possibilities
Yuki, I...
Once again, he hadn't heard the rest: Akizuki had managed to interrupt them as usual. Climbing down a tree, no less. It was beginning to puzzle him. Besides, she had said such strange things, after Touya left... and it was not the first time.
Shaking his head, Yukito tried to concentrate on his work. He was never going to finish cooking if he kept getting distracted, and he still hadn't done his homework either. The mere thought made him feel sleepy. He blinked a couple of times, forcing himself to pay attention while he sliced the vegetables.
It was more difficult than he had expected. His thoughts insisted on drifting towards that afternoon, and Touya's look... He didn't think he had ever seen his friend so serious. Touya was worried, truly worried about him, and that made his stomach twist. It was because he didn't want to scare him, yes – but also because Touya was rarely wrong about those things.
Was he really that sick? That didn't make any sense to him. As far as he could tell, he wasn't sick at all. Just so tired...
The knife slipped from his hand, startling him. He had to pay attention if he didn't want to hurt himself. No wonder Touya was concerned.
... there he went again. He sighed, resigned. There was no way of getting his friend out of his mind, after all, he had figured that out quite a while ago. It was a strange feeling. Ever since he had come to Tomoeda, Touya had been his best friend. They trusted each other, they had fun together, and they understood each other perfectly; even those little quirks and oddities that nobody else seemed to get. Yukito couldn't have asked for more.
Except that, lately, he was beginning to think that perhaps he could. And that Touya might agree with that.
That was why he didn't want to think too much about what his friend was trying to tell him. He didn't want to get the wrong idea. There were plenty of things that Touya might try to say... It was probably about his constant tiredness, in fact, he was reasonable enough to know that. But still, there was a part of him that flat out refused to be reasonable, and insisted that it might be something else.
Yuki, I love you.
He didn't even realise he was smiling.
