Title: Cluedo
Author: Dallas
Disclaimer: House and its characters do not belong to me. Which kind of sucks, but I’m dealing with it.
Pairing: House/Cuddy, Wilson/OC
Summary: A wife lying to her husband, a sister who fears her brother, siblings trying to keep their parents together, and two sets of ex’s who refuse to see eye to eye - they are all put under the microscope when one of them winds up dead and there’s countless possibilities.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The idea is that this works like Cluedo, you have to guess who killed the victim. Each chapter is going to have part of the day of each character that's a suspect. They all end with the character's considering the possibility of murder, but one goes through with it. Who will it be? You've got to guess. This first bit's just to establish who the victim is. I tried to erase all clues from this, so don't go looking for them.
And House is not the killer. :P
Chapter One – On a Cold Rainy Night
6pm
Police sirens broke through the sound of the thunderstorm that was brewing outside. More and more people were gathering outside, drawn out by the flashing lights. Two CSI’s carried a body out to their vehicle. A white sheet pulled up over the face of the feminine form. A police officer joined them and began to take notes. “What have you got so far Charlie?” “Female, Caucasian, aged around late thirties – early forties.” The older CSI replied.
“You got a name?”
“Yeah, her drivers’ license said her name’s Stacy Warner.” Charlie replied, watching as his partner secured the body so it wouldn’t bounce around on its way to the morgue. “We're taking her back for the autopsy, you know the drill.”
“Who found the body?”
“It was called in by that gentleman over there.” He pointed towards a tall man with a rather gruff looking disposition. “His name’s Gregory House, says he just found her like this.”
“Got all the evidence you need?”
“We’ve left Eliza and Pete in there. They’ll tell you where to stand Munroe.”
“Thanks, good luck with it.” He looked back towards the man Charlie had pointed out to him. He leant heavily on a cane, but looked like he was ready to swing it hard if needed. “Excuse me Sir.” Munroe walked towards him, trying not to seem too friendly but not wanting to get on the guys bad side. House was a familiar name, but he couldn’t work out why.
“That’s Dr House to you…” He glanced at the badge the officer held up. “Officer Munroe.” And suddenly Munroe knew where he’d heard the name.
“You work down at the Hospital right?”
“Well duh.” Came the reply in a rather satirical tone.
“You want to tell me what happened here?”
“There was a body so some nice people came, processed the scene and took it away.” House replied, leaning against the wall with boredom. “Don’t they teach you that in cop school?”
“Dr House…” Munroe didn’t like being patronized and was keen to get on with his work. If only he could get a straight answer out of this man. “Could you think of anyone that would want to harm Stacy Warner?”
“Is that a trick question?” Munroe didn’t seem to be interested in jokes so House just amused himself with his question. There was a long pause, as House raised an eyebrow and considered the question. “This case could take some time…”
“Why do you say that Dr House?” Munroe asked, raising an eyebrow suspiciously.
“You’re going to be interviewing everyone she ever met. Including the midwife who delivered her, but she probably died of old age last century.”
