A/N: oh my, I am back with yet another crack-pairing one-shot! (dodges tomato) Ok, ok, I'm working on my other fic, I SWEAR! But this pairing sort of works, I guess. ShikaHina is my new OTP for the moment! XD

Disclaimer: I DON'T OWN NARUTO! (takes out flamethrower) I'm not God, Masashi Kishimoto is 'cause he owns it! He owns our souls, now BOW DOWN!

She's not like the other girl's…

She was always quiet and kept to herself. She almost looked like a mouse, what with her always hiding in her oversized jacket. And she was always poking her index fingers together whenever she was in an awkward moment.

But that's what I like about her. 'Cause she wasn't like all the other troublesome women in the village. But if I had to tell you why I chose Hyuuga Hinata instead of any other girl in the village;

Yamanaka Ino: Although I've known her the longest, she's troublesome. She's loudmouthed, bossy and her mind is always on that Uchiha. She's OK, as a teammate, I mean.

Haruno Sakura: The pink-haired kunoichi has blossomed into a beautiful cherry blossom. But she'd rather be drooling over that Uchiha or competing with Ino. I'd like my woman to be strong but not so much as to overpower me.

TenTen: One of the few and rare girls who have their minds on training rather than shopping or whatever else you women like to do. But she focuses a bit too much on her weapons and a man wouldn't want their woman to be bossing them around so much.

Then there's her, Hyuuga Hinata: she finally let go of her crush on Naruto, letting her focus more on someone else; sweet, cute, shy and quiet Hyuuga Hinata. The reason why I like her so much is the fact that 1) she's not like my mom and 2) although she's strong, she wouldn't be able to boss me around so much.

But it's not like I'm sexist or anything, I just happen to hate bossy and overbearing women and Hinata isn't one of them. She's not the type to complain and always minded other people's business. Hell, she didn't even care that I'm like an old lazy bum who likes playing shougi and go or watching the clouds. Yeah, I admit it.

But my eyes snapped open, waking up from my deep thoughts as a small timid voice called out to me in the cold weather air. It didn't snow yet but it was too cold to sit in the grass so I just lied down on a bench to watch the clouds, making me look like a homeless bum. But I didn't mind.

I sat up to get a better look at her. She looked much better with short hair so she cut it. The short hair made her look more innocent. "Yeah, Hina-chan?" she blushed, still not comfortable with the nickname I just recently started calling her by.

"Ano…Shikamaru-kun, would you…like to get some hot chocolate?" The purple-haired girl said slowly, so as to avoid stuttering. "At my house, I mean. Otou-san won't mind."

"Sure, why not" I replied as I slowly got up. "It's better than being outside in this troublesome weather"

She laughed; she laughed whenever I said "how troublesome" or something of the sort. It was those small and simple things about her that made me love her so much. Eh, how troublesome, I'm starting to sound like a love-sick teenager. But who I am kidding? I am a love-sick teenager…I guess.

We started walking side by side, footsteps in synch with each other. The two of us didn't say anything, with only the sound of our footsteps heading in the direction of the Hyuuga mansion.

The air started to get colder as I notably saw that the slightly shorter girl started shivering as she rubbed her ungloved hands together. I grinned as I slinked an arm around her shoulders which made her flinch in surprise.

Ah, I caught her off guard, I thought as my grin widened slightly.

She relaxed once she saw that it was only my arm and we continued walking again. Over the simplest of things, she always blushed. But that's what made her so special.

We entered her house, kicking off our shoes as we slipped into the house slippers already set out for us. Entering the kitchen, Hinata was already taking out the hot cocoa mix from the cupboards and boiling some hot water.

I felt relaxed, just sitting there sipping hot chocolate at the kitchen table as she sat next to me. She didn't insist that I should have marshmallows in mine but I took some anyway, but not as much as her. The top of her cup was literally piled up in a small mountain of mini-marshmallows as she calmly sipped at it.

I looked over to her as she picked a marshmallow up by the edge, chewing it at the end. I have no idea what came over me but my face just sorta went right over to hers as I started chewing on the other end. She froze, blushing a bright red at my strange action.

Ah, I caught her off guard again. But I just took the marshmallow out of her mouth, putting it in mine as my lips met with hers. We let go after a while, with her blushing as she continued to awkwardly drink at her hot chocolate. I didn't mind, I knew she was still uncomfortable with such intimate moments.

But I smiled, snaking an arm around her shoulders as I picked my cup up.

There are a lot of troublesome and annoying things in this world, but Hyuuga Hinata is not one of them.

A/n: ACK! Too mushy (blush, blush) Shikamaru was a challenge so I'm sorry if he's a bit OOC. ShikaHina to me, could happen, I dunno, it's my opinion anyway.
