Well this is a story I’ve been meaning to write for a while hope you all like it.

Naruto and Sasuke were standing in the valley of the end both exhausted and both injured. “Sasuke please come back to us. There’s still time you can come back to Konoha with us.”

Sasuke shook his head with a cold dead look in his eyes. “No Naruto I have to gain the strength to kill my brother. And I cant do that in the leaf.” He started charging a Chidori. Making his curse seal reach the ultimate level.

Naruto charged a Rasengan. Once again allowing the Kyuubi’s chakra to envelope him making a full chakra tail.

They both charged and slammed there attacks together. One attempting to destroy the other.

Kakashi was running at full speed through the trees. Nothing else mattered in the world he had to get there he had to get to where they were fighting. He knew that he couldn’t allow them to die. If he did then…

He felt the strong pulse of Kyuubi’s chakra and the pulse of Sasuke’s twisted curse seal. He started running even faster. ‘Why didn’t I see it sooner. I should have known that Sasuke wouldn’t be able to resist with the lust for power he had. And what did I do? I HAD TO GIVE HIM A JUTSU THAT COULD KILL NARUTO!’

Kakashi was getting angrier and angrier by the minute. Angry with himself, angry with Sasuke and angry with Orochimaru. But deep down he realized that Sasuke would indeed use the Chidori to kill Naruto. And if Naruto indeed died then it would be his fault.

‘Naruto…’ The blonds name delivered a pang of guilt into his heart. ‘I was never a sensei to him or Sakura. I always ignored him I merely fawned him off and pushed him aside. And for what? Just so I could train an Uchiha that would eventually betray us for his own desires.

Naruto I swear when this is over I will be the sensei I should have been.’

If it was even possible Kakashi started running even faster.

Sakura was sitting on a bench near Konoha’s gates silently crying. The scene of Naruto as he made his promise continued playing over and over in her mind. She remembered seeing his eyes.

The blue eyes that could only belong to him, she had played it off as a figment of her imagination or the light playing tricks on her. But the longer she thought about it the less she could deny it to herself. She had seen it s clear as day. She had seen both the pain and the brokenness in those blue orbs.

She sobbed a little more this time. ‘Naruto…I’m so sorry. Please come back Naruto…please.’ She cried a little louder burying her face in her hands.

“Sakura are you all right?” The question was given by none other than Ino who had seen Sakura crying and decided to come and help the poor girl. She sat down on the bench next to her. She looked around and noticed something.

“I remember that Naruto would sit here sometimes.” Sakura nodded briefly. There was silence for several moments before Sakura decided to finally break it.

“I have to apologize to him.” Ino looked at her curiously and Sakura looked to the sky. “I have to apologize to Naruto. He was always so nice to me but I treated him like garbage. I know that Naruto would never say anything but I have to become someone worthy of his friendship. I don’t deserve him as a friend.”

Ino was staring at her with a sad expression she nodded. “We all do Sakura none of us ever treated him well. We always treated him like he was some sort of freak. Only recently did we notice how strong or how nice he really is.” Sakura nodded with a small sad smile on her lips.

Sakura then turned to Ino and smiled brightly. “I have an idea how about we celebrate his birthday?” Ino thought about it for a moment before silently nodding with a smile forming on her lips as well.

Naruto’s Rasengan and Sasuke’s Chidori struggled for dominance. Neither one of them could prevail over the other.

‘Damn it’ Naruto was attempting to overpower Sasuke with his rasengan but both attacks held strong. Naruto could then sense Kakashi coming closer he was only about a minute away.

Both of the attacks reached their limit and exploded sending both boys flying back.

Naruto glared at Sasuke. “ARE YOU SO STUPID THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO THROW AWAY YOUR WHOLE LIFE JUST TO KILL YOUR BROTHER?” Sasuke’s anger rose at the mention of his brother but he did nothing other than glare. Why couldn’t the dobe take a hint and leave.

“I got news for you that snake just wants to use you’re body as the next container for his soul. And guess what YOUR BROTHER IS STRONGER THAN HIM YOU JACK ASS! So for you to beat him you’d have to become stronger than Orochimaru himself and he’s not going to let that happen.”

Sasuke was getting angrier by the minute but he did nothing and decided to let Naruto finish. “You know what you selfish bastard think about what your parents would think about you now. Crawling to a snake for strength they’d die of just the shame of it.”

That was the last straw. With a cry of pure rage Sasuke lunged for Naruto. Empowered by his anger Naruto barely saw him move and Sasuke plunged the chidori right into his chest.

Sasuke then realized what he had done and his eyes went wide with horror. “Na-Naruto…I…I mean…OH MY GOD!” Sasuke yelled watching as Naruto’s breath grew raged and uneven.

Kakashi flew out of the tree line and his eyes grew wide with shock and horror at the sight before him. Naruto stood with Sasuke’s arm straight through his chest.

He didn’t waste time and moved to them and pushed Sasuke to the side. He gently grabbed Naruto and lied him on the ground.

Naruto coughed some blood and gazed at Kakashi with his eyes fading. “Ka…kashi-sen” Kakashi interrupted him. “Naruto don’t speak you’ll be fine… were going to get you to the hospital and everything will be fine you’ll see.” He said with tears building up in his eyes.

Naruto weakly shook his head. “No I can already feel it. I wont survive I’m already dying.” He coughed up some blood and let out a soft bitter laugh. He then looked at Sasuke who was still standing still with a look of shock and regret etched on his fetures.

“Heh the villagers will throw a party for you having killed their demon n’ all. He started coughing up more blood. He was going to close his eyes but Kakashi gently shook him. “Naruto listen to me you have to stay awake no mater what happens.” Naruto looked at Kakashi.

“Kakashi sensei did you hate me too?” Naruto asked his voice growing softer. Kakashi winced. ‘Is that what he thought…I…Naruto…Oh my God what have I done?’

“Naruto I never hated you I realize now how truly unfair I was as a sensei. I could never have hated you I was just a fool even with the Sharingan I was nothing but a blind overconfident fool. You were truly one of the greatest people I have ever met and you are twice the man I’ll ever be.” He paused with his tears rolling down his face freely. “You cant die here Naruto. Promise me you’ll hold on.”

Naruto grinned sheepishly showing his now bloody teeth. “I’m sorry Kakashi but…that’s one promise I wont be able to keep. But can you promise me something?” Kakashi not trusting his mouth simply nodded. “Get Sasuke back to Konoha and tell Sakura that I’m glad I was able to fulfill my last promise.”

Kakashi had to choke back a sob and nodded. Naruto then turned to Sasuke and grinned. “Don’t go to that snake Sasuke, if you do then you’ll become even worse than your brother.” For once Sasuke didn’t get angry instead he felt truly ashamed. He realized that Naruto was right. “Sasuke I have a favor to ask of you.”

Naruto reached for the necklace he was wearing and with the last of his strength ripped it off. “Carry on my dream for me.” He tossed the necklace to him and Sasuke caught it.

Naruto looked to the sky. “Tell Tsunade…she was the mother I never had?” Naruto then took one last shaky breath…before life left him. Kakashi shook him.

“Naruto…NARUTO!” Sobs racked his body as he gazed at Naruto who had a peaceful expression on his face. “NAARUTOOOOOO!” He yelled to the sky as it started to rain.

Kakashi gently picked up Naruto and delivered a cold glare to Sasuke. “Let’s go.” He said in a voice that was so cold hell would have frozen over at the sound of it. Sasuke just nodded staring at the ground with Shame and regret on his face wordlessly both Sharingan users started making there way back to Konoha.

Both completely unaware of the two red eyes with three black dots that watched them leave. ‘Uzumaki…thank you’ He thought before disappearing into thin air

Kyuubi felt the life of his tenant leaving him and growled.

“No Naruto I it wont end like this”

Red chakra swirled within the cage of the Kyuubi

Kakashi and Sasuke both stopped as Naruto suddenly faded becoming almost transparent. Kakashi uncovered his sharingan attempting to discover a genjutsu of some sort but all he found was a large concentration of red chakra flowing through the seal.

Then before he could do anything there was a bright flash of light and Naruto was nowhere to be seen. Sasuke was about to move and look but Kakashi grabbed his shoulder.

“I don’t know what happened but it wasn’t done by a human. You are coming with me to the Hokage Uchiha.” Sasuke’s eyes widened slightly Kakashi’s voice held much anger and never had he ever called him by his clan name before it was unnerving but he understood that he was lucky to even be alive and just nodded.

Naruto weakly opened his eyes and noticed he was in a forest. He tried to look around but only succeeded in his head falling limply at his side. The last thing he noticed before losing consciousness again were a pair of blue eyes that stared at him with worry.
