Frozen Fires

Author’s note: I do not own the characters, actors, storylines, anything. The only thing that I have is the ideas and the resources to write my own stories. I do not own them.

She was pretty sure that this wasn’t the best way to start a shift. It would probably have been better if she had just stayed in bed and did nothing. But no she just had to go out and do good in the world. Catch bad guys, send them away, yeah well where did that get her. Weren’t there building inspectors for this reason? God this hurt.

“Lindsay? Speak to me Lindsay.” Everything sounded kind of weird. It was kind of like everything was vibrating. It really was not pleasant.

“Lindsay. Wake up Lindsay. You have to wake up.” I know that voice.

“Mac?”

“Lindsay thank god you are awake.”

“Mac what happened? I can’t remember.” Wait this isn’t the floor. This is Mac. I’m on top of my boss Mac Taylor. I need to move now.

Lindsay attempted to move and that was a really bad move.

“Oh god that hurts.” Lindsay couldn’t stop the cry from escaping.

“Lindsay stay still. You have to stay still. How are you?”

“What is going on Mac? Tell me.” She didn’t want to tell him that all she could feel was pain. Wait no there was also a headache and nausea involved.

“The suspect was here the whole time. We were processing and the guy jumped out. He slammed into you and you fell into me. Then we both fell and the floor gave under the weight.”

“Why am I still on top of you though?” Lindsay figured he would have moved by now. Maybe it was involved with the sharp, shooting, excruciating pain.

“Lindsay when we fell I landed on the bottom and you landed on me, but the floor we landed on had pipes all over and we landed on one.”

“I don’t understand. Where is the pipe?”

“It is going through our stomachs. It didn’t do much damage to me from what I can tell, but I think yours is a little worse.”

Lindsay carefully lifted her hand and fumbled to get it to her stomach. She felt Mac underneath her as she inched her hand to the area that she felt the pain coming from. It wasn’t long before the material beneath her hand was covered in blood. Her blood. His blood. Their blood.

“Oh god.”
