Author’s Note: If you catch any mistakes in my writing, feel free to comment on my mistakes so I can fix them! Enjoy this Naruto-centric chapter! Also I wanted to get this cleared up, all the Naruto character’s are speaking in Japanese, so when they meet the X-men their dialogue’s will be bolded to show that they’re trying to talk in their native language. The reason I don’t do this now is because it’s too much work to bold every single sentence, so I’ll just wait until they meet someone who speaks in a different language for it to be bolded. The words I bold in this chapter are real Japanese words and I’ll define them at the end of this chapter, okay!

Disclaimer: I do not own any Naruto or X-Men: Evolution characters. The only character I do own is Kirashima-kun.

Chapter 6: New Enemies and Organizations

Oi, Sakura,” Naruto asked cautiously, he didn’t know whether he should bring this up or not, but might as well as he’d had already spoken up. “…do you…umm…think that maybe we could…get some ramen after we go back to Konoha?” He asked shyly, he knew that maybe asking for ramen at this time wasn’t very wise, since they’d just seen a bunch of people dead on the riverbank, but his notorious appetite wouldn’t let him up. His stomach had been growling throughout the whole way back home.

“Sure, why not Naruto?” Sakura replied, her tone was monotonous so he couldn’t really tell in what mood she was in, but he doubted it was good. Her face was droopy and her bubble-gum colored hair was matted around her face due to this afternoon’s earlier heat wave, it currently was night and the temperate had cooled down several degrees. The other members of Team 7 were in a similar state, although they hid their current depressed moods in different ways.

Although he didn’t feel very cheerful, he acted that way to lighten the mood of his team. They had been brought into a depression after seeing that horrible sight. He didn’t like seeing his teammates sad. “Ooinaru…let’s get there fast!” With that he sprinted ahead of the group keeping a good enough distance so they could see him and still follow. His teammates snorted at his childish antics. He stopped, turned around and gave his teammates a wide grin. Sakura gave Naruto a half-smile, but it was forced and it quickly dropped. Sasuke rolled his eyes at Naruto and continued on walking. Kakashi didn’t even glance up from his Icha Icha Paradise book and merely waved a hand signaling to the blonde boy to keep walking.

Naruto walked along the forest trail that led to Konoha, his thoughts trying to distract him from the depressed mood that his teammates gave off. Unconsciously his mind wandered toward images of earlier that day and he winced as he felt the bile rise in his throat, if he kept up this train of thought he wouldn’t be in the mood to eat after all. Guilt also rose up; they had left the bodies to rot. He had argued with Kakashi that they atleast deserved a decent burial, Kakashi merely shook his head at him and told him that moving the bodies could destroy any possible evidence that might be hidden among the bodies, he had planned to deliver the news to Tsunade to see if she could spare any ninja's who specilized with dealing with these types of situations to inspect the bodies closely for any clues as to the identity of the killers were. Naruto had reluctantly agreed, it was better finding information on those bastards that had killed those villagers, and bury the corpses later.

They had chosen to travel at night and rested during the day for the long walk, the moonlight lit the path along which they traveled.

Suddenly, a figure leaped from the surrounding forest and stepped in the way of the shinobi’s path. It wore a brown cloak wrapped tightly around its frame, effectively hiding its appearance.

Startled that they hadn’t been able to sense this figure’s chakra, the members of Team 7 drew their kunai, ready to strike at a moment’s notice. Naruto, the closest to the unknown person, spoke in a loud and clear voice. “Who the hell are you!” If they weren’t currently dealing with a possibly dangerous individual, Sasuke would of chuckled at his teammates bluntness.

“No need to fear, I mean you no harm.” The figure spoke in a smooth and silky voice. There was a feminine quality to the voice from it as well, but they had learned never to trust everything from appearances or sounds alone.

“And how the hell are we supposed to trust someone we don’t even know, you just leaped out from the woods out of nowhere!” Naruto countered.

“Hmm…not as dumb as you look, huh, blondie?” The cloak was thrown off from the figure and a woman was revealed. Her face, that was now visible, was scrunched up in a sneer. Her hair was long and appeared to reach the middle of her back; the most striking thing was that her hair was the unusual color of green, vibrant and lustrous. Her clothing was extremely unusual; it covered her entire body, only showing skin on her neck and face. The one-piece had various patterns of swirls of green and white, making it appear to hypnotize whoever looked at it. It clung to her body like a second skin and left little to the imagination.

The woman stretched out her arms, palms forward, and emitted waves of unknown yellow colored energy.

Naruto was perplexed, if this was some kind of jutsu, wouldn’t it have her performing hand signs or something before, yet he hadn’t seen her do any such thing.

While these thoughts whizzed on inside his head, his body had jumped back from the waves, unsure of what exactly they were meant to do and unwillingly to find out.

Sasuke and Sakura had taken up positions on either side of him, backing him up incase this woman had any other strange techniques. Kakashi also joined them; his Icha Icha Paradise book out of his hands for once and kunai’s gripped tightly in.

The waves, meanwhile, had never stopped moving forward, not fast enough to catch him or his teammates but not stopping either. They stepped back, not wanting to see what those waves did, and unnoticeably walked right into the woman’s trap. A piercing scream could be heard from behind them and strong force crashed into the backs of Team 7, it sent them flying straight toward the woman. They hit the energy waves the woman had created, but no effects could be seen taking effect, it didn’t burn or anything like they had expected it to.

They landed on the ground in front of the woman with a “thump” sound.

His teammates groaned and tried to stand up, he with them. As soon as he tried to lift his leg, his entire sense of balance went to hell.

He couldn’t make up from down. He stumbled forward and fell on his face as he tried to stand for a second time. Naruto groaned, he felt disoriented and sick to his stomach.

Naruto watched as the unknown green-haired woman walked over to him. She placed a hand to her mouth, her lips quirked upward, attempting to stifle a laugh. Her mouth moved, but no words could be heard. The sound blast that had hit them had made him temporarily deaf and he couldn’t make out the words the woman was saying as he looked up at her face from his place on the ground. He blinked sky-blue eyes at her, as she turned red in face (obviously from anger), finally realizing he couldn’t hear her due to his temporary deafness. She stepped forward; cold green eyes set on his face, and kicked him on the side. He yelped in pain and grabbed his side.

Like it was his fault the stupid woman couldn’t figure out he couldn’t hear her with that stupid attack still ringing in his ear, he thought wryly. A few moments passed before he could finally make out the words coming out of her mouth.

“Dumb brat!” She yelled, her voice was shrill and loud. She looked back at his teammates and an evil grin spread across her face. “I see you’ve become acquainted with the effects of my energy waves.” She walked toward Sasuke, who like him, was lying on the ground, unable to get up. “My power’s allow me to mess up my victim’s sense of balance, you can’t tell what up from down or left from right, leaving you completely helpless as well as making sure you won’t be getting up anytime soon.” She kneeled near Sasuke’s body and grabbed a handful of his black hair and yanked his head up to meet her emerald eyes. He met her gaze with defiant obsidian eyes. “You’re a cute one, aren’t you? My name’s Vertigo, what’s yours?” Vertigo’s voice beheld what was probably meant to be a seductive tone, but it only caused Sasuke’s eye to twitch in annoyance. She licked her lips as she blatantly admired his body, her gaze sweeping up and down, looking at him with a hungry look in her eye. “Our master didn’t tell us we would have such handsome targets.”

A few feet away, Sakura’s voice could be heard, her voice was a tad muffled due to her being facedown on the ground. Although she couldn’t see what the woman was doing, she could hear the woman’s comments quite clearly. “You witch! If you harm a single hair on Sasuke-kun’s head…” Sakura spoke with a menace in her normally placid voice, and left the threat unsaid.

“Who said anything about hurting him? If anything I want to have a little fun with him first.” She smirked and turned Sasuke’s limp body face up. Her hands slid under his shirt. She slid her fingers across his chest appreciatively. Sasuke tensed under her touch and a red tint began to form on his cheeks, whether this was from embarrassment or anger only Sasuke knew. He was clearly uncomfortable with her touches. If Sakura could see what this woman was currently doing to Sasuke she’d probably scream in jealous rage. Vertigo’s fingers traveled southward toward Sasuke’s- a voice interrupted the hands decent. Inwardly, Naruto and Sasuke were sighing in relief, if she would’ve gone any further…Naruto shuddered, ending that particular train of thought.

The voice that had interrupted Vertigo was tinged with a foreign accent Naruto hadn’t heard before. “What the hells are you doing Vertigo! You can’t get frisky with the enemy in the middle of a forest and with me right in front of you no less!” A man with long wavy pink hair, similar to Sakura’s own, came into Naruto’s field of view. He was dressed in strange clothes. He wore some kind of purple shirt with tight burgundy colored pants. The man’s shirt collar reached his eye, which Naruto thought looked really dorky. He walked over toward Vertigo and placed an arm on her shoulder. “You can have your fun in private later! We need to deliver these ninja to our master.”

“Whose this master we’re talking about here?” Kakashi’s raspy voice could be heard but Naruto couldn’t see him. He knew that Kakashi was probably sprawled on the forest floor somewhere, but he was currently paralyzed due to Vertigo’s attack so he couldn’t move to turn his head and look for his sensei.

The man’s blue eye’s snapped toward, what Naruto thought, must be his sensei’s location. The strangely dressed man spoke in a low tone. “You will not be questionings us. Ask anything else and I’ll rip the tongues out of your mouths.”

Vertigo rolled her eyes at that and told him. “You know you can’t do that, Ruckus, the master will have your head if you hurt his precious test subjects.” She shook her head. “We don’t want to get on his bad side.”

Obviously unimpressed with that man’s threat, Kakashi’s calm voice spoke again. “Well then, if nothing else…would you mind telling us the lovely name of the evil group that captured us?”

The man named Ruckus smirked. “Why the Marauders, of course.”

Chapter End

Japanese Definitions:

Oi – Hey

Ooinaru – Great

Sensei – Teacher/Master

Marauders Information: This group is significant in X-men history, they single handily wiped out many of the morlocks in comic continuity and I hope you recognize Vertigo and Ruckus from the classic 90’s X-men cartoon, I decided to use them in my story as well as…which most of you could already guess, their leader, for those of you who don’t know who that is already…I leave you to figure it out. Also for those of familiar with the Naruto-verse and think that Team 7 were taken out too quickly by just two Marauders, think about it, Vertigo’s power’s are incredibly impressive, taking away any speed advantages the ninja have and making them basically paralyzed since they have absolutely no sense of balance whatsoever. As for why Team 7 couldn’t sense the marauders…that will be explained later in the story.

Codename: Vertigo

Powers: Ability to render those in close vicinity extremely disoriented or unconscious

Codename: Ruckus

Powers: Ability to absorb the sound waves around him and send them back with concussive force by screaming

I hope you like this chapter! I know, I know, this chapter’s really short, but don’t worry the rest will be longer. This chappie took so long to write, even though it’s not really a lot of writing I just couldn’t come up with anything, I had like a mental block or something :( . Anyway, the plot thickens with the next few chapters as the X-men meet a new friend, but is he/she a trustworthy friend…
