It seemed that they were always asking something of him. Perhaps demanding was the better word for this situation. Sometimes he felt as though he had no control of his own life, that it was spinning out of control. Tifa never understood the voices that echoed in his head.

“…don’t leave, please stay….”

“…you’re being selfish.”

And sometimes,

“Save the whole fuckin world Cloud.”

Cloud passed a hand over his eyes, desperately wishing he could demolish the white noise that rang in his ears. He yearned to block them all out. But despite all of that, he could still remember the one person who never asked anything of him, the one who possessed raven black hair and shining violet eyes.

“Do you best Spikey; I know you have it in you.” There was a slight smile, a wink, and footsteps that came with that memory.

Cloud smiled in remembrance; Zack had only wanted him to exceed in what he wanted for himself. Zack had never pushed anything on Cloud, unlike the many others he knew and loved.

To Cloud, it seemed like everyone thought he was some almighty hero. He smirked coldly; he wasn’t and he knew it. A hero in his opinion was selfless and caring. Cloud was the exact opposite, as selfish as a person could be. He held no illusions.

It began to rain softly, the water slipping down Cloud’s unshielded face. He sighed and dropped his head between his knees, letting the rain soak his clothes to his body. There was an echo of a soft whisper in his ear, a memory, “I love you Spikey, you know that, right?”

Cloud tilted his head back, letting the somewhat frigid rain bath his face. He basked in the memory of Zack rolling him over onto his back and straddling him, pinning him by his wrists. He could even feel the sensations as Zack curled his tongue around his nipple, making Cloud moan.

A memory could be a precious thing, Cloud decided.

Two bodies lay twined together, the moonlight falling over their forms. Soft moans and thrusting motions could have been seen if anyone looked hard enough, but the young lovers were alone on this night.

Za..Zack, please, more.”

Shh…baby, I’m almost there.”

A closer look would have revealed a blonde arched beneath a larger, dark haired man who stiffened and arched his back. His head fell back as he let out a loud cry as his release took him and his younger lover.

The raven haired man collapsed upon the smaller man, Cloud, and held him in his arms, licking along Cloud’s neck and chest adoringly. Cloud wrapped his arms around his lover’s neck and sighed as Zack kissed him passionately, a fire gleaming in his eyes. “I love you Spikey, you know that, right?”

“Cloud, are you alright?”

Cloud snapped his eyes opened, shocked to see Tifa standing before him. She cocked her head to the side, concern written upon her face. Some blonde hair had fallen over his eyes and she crouched down, reaching over to gently brush the hair aside.

As she looked at his face and blue eyes, she wondered faintly how much of the water on his face wasn’t tears.

Rainy days always left him hopelessly depressed.
