This didn't turn out how I originally planned, and I had to edit it a number of times. I also don't think it flows that well, but... I think it turned out all right. For Kuroi, because she rocks.

But. I still can’t write these two.

Roxas, Axel had decided, had a horrible tendency to spend hours in the rain.

Axel didn’t hate the rain, but he usually preferred the dreary halls of Xemnas’ castle above wet alleyways. But Roxas seemed to have a penchant for spending his thoughtful moments in even the heaviest of showers. As much as he would have rather been elsewhere, Axel was inclined to follow the young Nobody.

This time, Roxas’ choice for his brooding spot had been under a streetlight in some nameless, distant world. It was the only one for quite a distance, so neither of them had plans to move from the spot any time soon. Roxas stood quietly, his head hung as he stared at the wet ground. His sullen silence was accompanied by Axel momentarily shifting every so often under the dim light.

It had already been a lengthy time since they had first stopped under the streetlight, and Axel had respected his friend with an immeasurable amount of patience. But now, as he lazily shook his aching left leg, he was growing tired. He distantly wished that a hoard of Heartless would present itself; at least that would provide some entertainment.

However, after spending many rain-drenched silences with Roxas, Axel eventually found the ritual comforting. It was calm, and something the two of them could share, away from the rest of the Organization.

Still, somewhere in the back of his mind, Axel wished Roxas would smile or talk for him. Nothing much, just a small curve of the lips, or even the barest whisper of his name. Something other than the Roxas brooding in sadness and rain.

But for now, he would take Roxas and his rain-drenched silences; because that was Roxas, and Axel wouldn’t demand any more from him.

Axel could stay with Roxas as the rain continued to pour, until it eventually lessened to a lazy drizzle and the streetlight flickered in exhaustion; and Roxas wouldn’t notice, still deep in thought as rain dripped from his hood. Axel would grab his hand, waking him from his pensive state. Axel would then simply say, “Roxas, let’s go”, and lead him back to The World That Never Was.
