If you haven’t read my first two fics, I strongly recommend that you do that first.

They had come close to detonating a large bomb filled with enough chaos radiation to cleanse the planet of all life. Thinking their friend Tails had given his life to stop them there was relative peace for two years. As the newly formed Mobian Armed Forces waged their controversial skirmishes across the face of Mobius in a bid to rid its people of all trace of Robotnik’s machines and facilities. Their methods were violent and destructive… but they worked. However despite there being thousands of Metalix’s in the war two years ago, few fully intact machines had been recovered it was as though someone had beaten the M.A.F. in recovering the technology. Sonic however wrestled between the morality of what they were doing and of his nightmares of Tails’ small body being transformed by the chaos radiation and the explosion that he had taken the full affects of after trying to reduce its radioactive levels.

But Sonic and the rest of the world had been deceived in inside a secret lab the insane former dictator and his evil allies had the real Tails locked inside a status pod and were conducting experiments with the chaos radiation that the Metalix had created in the construction of their bomb on his young body. From the moment Robotnik discovered the existence of Super Sonic he had wanted the power of a chaos life form to inhabit himself. After months of experimentation and a small operation to implant a badnik mind control device the experiment was a success. The chaos gas unlocked the secret inside Tails, a powerful chaos creature that had leapt into his body as a spirit trapped in the master emerald on the floating island when he had last been there. Each cell in his body changed to accommodate this life form for a permeate stay unlike previous attempts recorded throughout the ancient echidna history.

With their experiment a success the creature was known as Garm, powerful and more deadly than anything seen before its first encounter with Sonic was interrupted as he newly awoken body struggled to provide the energy required to fight. But Sonic had not gotten away lightly he had been battered and suffered a successful defeat. Sonic noticed that Garm resembled Tails and needed to know the truth. Following a big argument with Amy the two hedgehogs found the final resting place of tails and began a gruesome exhumation. But it wasn’t just these two who were having problems; all around the world the M.A.F. had received reports and were fighting a new kind of robot from Robotnik designated the E-series that ripped their soldiers to pieces.

When the body of Tails was exhumed they were stunned to discover that it hadn’t shown and signs of decomposition, the body was later taken away to be given a thorough examination. As Sonic was left alone in the site where Tail’s had been left to rest he became aware of another figure with him. The Mk5 Metalix had found him, after a brief introduction strange portals opened up and many different kinds of Metalix robots came through them some of unknown classifications and attacked him. But the robots didn’t kill him, the mk5 then warned Sonic that the Metalix was everywhere and could do anything. Before Sonic had a chance to think or recover he was attacked again by Garm. Sonic was pushed to his limit by Garm and Garm knew what he was doing he waited until sonic reached his limit and transformed into Super Sonic. But Garm was now more complete than before, his powers were becoming full active and he was able to stun Super Sonic. Garm then inserted his tentacle like fingers into Super Sonic and unlocked his mind giving him new memories. Super Sonic remembered how he too was a chaos creature that had found his way into the special zone and bonded himself to Sonic, but also that Garm and him were brothers. Thinking that Garm wanted to form an alliance with him Super Sonic gave him the location of the ancient echidna city but then Garm attacked and was able to pull the chaos entity out of Sonic’s body and absorbed Super Sonic into his own body making him the single most powerful creature in existence. Shortfuse, Porker and a highly skilled fighter named Bark saved Sonic from being killed by Garm but the stress of having Super Sonic removed from his body had knocked him out into a coma.

When Sonic was recovered by the M.A.F. Tekno was already examining the body of Tails they had dug up. After performing several tests Shortfuse was concerned that his badnik sensor kept on detecting a badnik in the room. After an operation to remove the skin of the body, a large metal chassis of a fox like robot greeted them under it. After analysis of the structure the scientists were at a loss for words, it was one of the most advanced badniks they had ever seen, it was designed for infiltration and they examined a small patch of blood left on the metal framework and noticed that it was multiplying, the exterior was like a real skin. Internally it was designed to move and act like its real life counterpart. But Amy didn’t care for this even though it meant that Tails was alive and was that creature Garm. Sitting by his side for what seemed like hours Amy barely him. She wondered how long it would be until Sonic would wake. Inside his mind Sonic was having nightmares and of Garm coming for him, killing him and all of Mobius. When suddenly he woke up panicked and became a shell of what he once was. His whole body was in pain and broken.

Sometime later a group of people including Tekno, Shortfuse and Amy were discussing the Garm creature and was told about the history of the echidna race and they learnt about what exactly the super forms were and how they were conceived on Mobius. Tekno also revealed that she had injected tiny nano machines into Sonic to assist in healing him and bringing him back onto top form again.

But inside Robotniks lab Garm had returned and was informed that Robotnik had finally achieved his final goal. He told Zachary and Grimer that everything had led up to this moment, that from the first moment he saw Sonic transform into Super Sonic he wanted that power for himself and dedicated his entire lives work on studying chaos energy and developing a formula that would unlock the power of the chaos creatures so he could then dominate all existence. But Garm was told that his use had ended and Robotnik tried to destroy him with the badnik mind control program implanted in his head. But Garm’s power and abilities had become so advanced that he had been able to disable the implant. Zachary and Grimer made their escape leaving Robotnik at the mercy of Garm. Garm showed little as he battered the egg man into a crumpled slump. Still defiant even near his death Robotnik reached out for his formula but it wasn’t 100 pure… As Garm delivered the killing blow Robotnik injected the formula directly into his own body, Garm now free from any other distractions headed towards the site of the old echidna city with the knowledge to destroy the whole world.

Back at the M.A.F. headquarters Sonic had awoken and was already discussing how they would deal with Garm, a plan was quickly devised but Sonic had to face Garm alone. If he failed Garm would succeed and the whole planet would be covered in chaos creatures from his realm, and nothing would be able to survive the culling. But the leader of the M.A.F. wasn’t happy that Sonic would fight alone and told him that if he wouldn’t defeat him within a short time limit he would launch a barrage of chaos energy missiles at the site and turn the whole area into dust. Sonic reluctantly agreed to the terms and the plan was carried out. But against his wishes Amy decided to follow him into the battleground.

At the echidna city Garm was already using his powers to cause the buried echidna machines to rise to the surface and began to activate the ancient devices to open a vortex to the chaos realm and allow his brothers and sisters to enter Mobius and pillage all live. Sonic arrived and a battle began. When it seemed like Garm would win Sonic suddenly gave up and said that he was all Garm’s. Or so Garm thought Sonic was really talking to Serverous, the chaos creature that once lived inside Sonic that enabled him to become Super Sonic. Tekno had told him that chances are because Super Sonic was forcibly removed from his body chances are it would still want Sonic because naturally he had more abilities and power than Tails did. It worked; the chaos creatures inside Tails’ body saw Sonic surrendering himself to their dominance and fought over each other to get to him. But the stress of having two chaos creatures leave Tails and try to enter Sonic caused both Sonic and Tails to pass out. When Sonic recovered he saw that Tails was lying near by with no sign of the chaos creature’s influence. But the battle wasn’t quite over. As soon as Sonic recovered he felt the large hands of Doctor Robotnik upon him

Robotnik had recovered from his near death; his entire body was riddled with chaos energy. Each cell in his body had mutated and was pouring chaos power through him like rapids. All the chaos energy he ever needed was now repairing the fatal damage caused by Garm. Robotnik told them that he was going to finish what Garm started. After dealing with Amy Rose who had come to Sonics aid, Robotnik then successfully reactivated the portal to the chaos dimension and move into place to absorb the creatures as they came through to destroy Mobius and become the supreme power of all time and space. But as the portal opened and the creatures began to emerge they could sense something wasn’t right, Robotnik wasn’t one of them, they detected he was impure. Robotnik’s mind was then brought back to what Grimer had told him that the formula needed to be 100 pure and he had taken it early in order to save his life. The Chaos life forms were insulted and outraged that an impure creature had dared to try and pull them into a new world. They came through the portal and gripped onto Robotnik pulling into their dimension. But as he was being pulled to his doom Robotnik looked at Sonic and promised him ‘when his dream ends, the real nightmare begins!’ as the portal closed and the world returned to normal Sonic and Amy headed home to the sound of the advancing M.A.F.

But it wasn’t yet over. Sonic had been acting odd following the fight with Robotnik. Amy had thought it was just stress but then when she returned home and found him sat in the dark Sonic threw himself into a rage as he yelled at her to run, that Robotnik had done something to the nano machines in his body and he couldn’t control himself. He begged her to run and find someone to end his life. If she failed he would have no choice to rip her apart.

As Amy ran through the Emerald Hill Zone Sonic was hunting her down, she ran into Porker who had seen Sonic bombard through a mass of people and didn’t need

long to convince that he was being controlled by something. The two headed into an old sewer that had been used during Robotnik’s rule to move underground to attack badnik convoys undetected. But Sonic saw them and followed. Leaving Amy to run ahead and to get help Porker tried to buy her some time. He turned to face Sonic and the two old friends fought, Porker wasn’t a fighter and both knew he would lose, but Sonic still congratulated him on a brave effort.

As Sonic chased Amy down he recognised the tunnel, it belonged to the old freedom fighters, and he knew their old secret base was at the end of the tunnel he heard Amy’s footsteps coming from. He also knew that there was no escape as it was blocked from a cave in after Robotnik had attacked several years ago. He cursed himself as he had no choice but to follow her knowing all the time that her doom was secured.

As Sonic entered the old abandoned ancient base he saw a small glimmer of light and knew Amy was there, against his will he had no choice but to confront her. But Amy refused to run anymore. She stood upto him and told him that he had become weak and that she didn’t care for him anymore because he had given in to Robotnik, she then showed him the wall that had pictures from the dark days when Robotnik was in charge, they were of Sonic the hero, newspaper articles chronicling Sonic’s exploits and talk of hero worship. Sonic couldn’t hold it in any long as he wrestled with his conscious and Robotnik’s control and he sent all his anger in a single fist and punched the floor. As he and Amy left the base together thinking that they were safe forever more a small smile came onto the face of Amy.

A few days later after visiting Tails in the hospital Amy and Sonic were heading back to Amy’s place together. Unaware that they were being watched by three people who would be described as human to you and I. They monitored the two until they entered Amy’s house. As Sonic and Amy entered they were greeted with a horrific sight. Knuckles was on the floor his body battered and bleeding slightly. He looked as though he had been through a battleground and he was the only man left standing on the opposite side. He staggered to his feet and told them both that they needed to talk. Unknown to all three of them outside the other three humans were beginning their advance…

And so, as the sun sets on those dark days that finally draw to an end, and night offers the start of a new age, when the tiny spec of dew falls from the leave and splashes into the ground, few will see it, as they shall be waking to the twilight dawn.
