After the events in the Antarctic that claimed the lives of all but one of the expedition members including its founder, Weyland industries has suffered another devastating blow today as its case against the only survivor was thrown out of court.
The judge ruled that the accident that took so many lives was not the responsibility of the accused Ms. Alexa Woods, who in the judge’s opinion amply warned the former Weyland CEO of the risks he took when he rushed his teams into the Antarctic.
The only son of Mr. Weyland today for the first time refused to answer any questions, the new CEO who had throughout the trial damned Ms. Woods as a saboteur and an Eco terrorist left the courthouse today without comment after she was acquitted of all charges.
The details of the accident have never been completely ascertained but experts say that while Weyland specialists were drilling to reach a particularly mineral rich cavern there was a cave in, Ms. Woods an environmental guide was alone able to escape the devastation.
Lawyers for Weyland claimed that their satellite picked up an explosion which would indicate sabotage but when the court asked for visual evidence experts for Weyland found they could not retrieve any imagery from the orbiting satellite.
The judge, after Weyland lawyers managed to drag the trial out for a subsequent 3 months, accused the company of wasting his and Ms. Woods time and dismissed the case. Ms. Woods as per usual refused to answer any questions about the incident but left giving her condolences to the families of the victims in the tragic accident.
When asked of her future plans she, while breaking down into tears, stated simply that she was going home.
The long awaited end to what has been called a tidal wave of vicious slander, this case finishes with Weyland industries suffering millions in legal fees and the traumatized survivor of a doomed expedition finally getting to return home.
