Chaos Hunting

It was, if the pun could be forgiven here, total chaos.

There really wasn't any other way to describe the kitchen. The two head chiefs were arguing with each other, students were running back and forth with requests and notes of allergies. People were yelling for ingredients, people were yelling that the ingredients were missing, someone must have ate the herbs and why did the music have to be so loud and why did it have to be that kind of music? Why couldn't it be rich classical?

The two head chiefs found out that although their students were willing to put up with a little abuse if it meant they would be taught: they would not tolerate one of their sanity savers being turned off.

Thus the CD player was left alone for the rest of the night.

Despite the stress and the hectic atmosphere and the long day (and night), this kind of barely controlled chaos was what Jessica lived for. At least for now, until the pang of homesickness managed to penetrate even times like this.

For now though, this was just too much fun.

It also helped that the woman wasn't directly in the mess of things but slightly off on the side as she worked on the desserts for the evening event. She could people-watch her fellow culinary students with one eye.

The few times the heads chiefs came other (read: twice), one had been approving and the other had just opened his mouth while scowling before he was pinned with a glare that promised death. The kind of glare was normally only applied once a month from most women. He wisely didn't comment, and instead fled thanks to several bad encounters along those lines.

But finally, it seemed like the event was over.

The dishes and the large kitchen were cleaned, spotless in comparison to how it had been before the students of this class had come.

"Oh god," Jessica said slumping back on a counter, "If that idiot even tries to think of using us for his personal slaves again this weekend I'll…I'll throw him in the nearest river!"

"I'll help!" several voices said in replay.

"I think I have some duck tape in my back pack!"

There fallowed a discussion of how to kidnap one of their teachers and if they should ransom the food industry.

"Hey, no one would pay to have that guy back!" One of the young men said, helping to make something simple for their dinner.

"No, no," Jessica grinned, "They had to give us our degrees or we'll let him go!"

Roars of laughter filled the kitchen and Harold the one teacher that the culinary class liked poked his head in, surprised they hadn't scattered. "What are you lot still doing here? It's two-AM!"

"We're taking advantage!"

"And getting free food!"

"Come lump with us!"

Five thirty am.

So lovely, but it had been worth it. It helped that it was Friday night – no, wait it was Saturday morning technically. It also helped the fallowing week was basically quite study.

Jessica took a deep breath, taking in the smell of the pouring rain before letting out a long sigh. She turned up her coat's wide collar and under that cover felt the Chaos symbiote make a scarf that was wonderfully fuzzy and warm. On that note Jessica was nice and warm thanks to the symbiote.

It was nice, now that the woman was used to the feeling of another mind next to hers. It was also a comfort thing, to know she was always safe. Chaos, though wishing a quite life to live out the last of its life span, the symbiote was near territorial over its host and quick to defend Jessica when she needed it.

So she didn't mind the rain, or the dark (more semi dark with the street lights) streets as she walked to the nearest subway, a good mile away. For a moment Jessica was tempted to 'run' home, back to the dorms...

"GAAHH!"

Wham!

"Ow…"

"…ow."

Hiisss...

"Oh damn-" the 'thing' that had slammed into Jessica from seemingly no where, rolled off and leapt away.

There was a blurry shape of red and blue on her peripheral vision and Jessica rolled to her side, squinting at her assailant. It took a moment for the woman to realize that her symbiote had partly formed over her person. Not the full on, more alien like form of Chaos, but the slate grey symbiote was more like a seconds skin or tight fabric, from toes to neck.

"Ow." Jessica said again, just as baffled as the symbiote of what happened.

"Uh…" Apparently the living missile was also confused, "Er, sorry?" He started to extend a hand and then hopped back again when the two main tendrils on the woman's back formed and helped her stagger back to her feet. They weren't nearly as long or thick as 'normal' but when planted on the ground to act like extra support.

Jessica lifted a hand to her head, the hand was five fingers not three and no claws, carefully touching the newly forming lump on the back of her skull. "Ow." She said once more, and in her not really awake state felt tears pricking at her eyes in reaction to the pain. Something she had gotten from her mother, pain of any kind and tears formed.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you."

Her vision finally cleared, and the red and blue blur was no blur but a halt tall man in suit that showed off lean, but still solid muscles. And…

"ACK!" Jessica yelped, feeling herself blush as she now bounced away. Staring wide-eyed at Spiderman, who was taller then her, but that wasn't hard. He was more lanky then photos and videos suggested.

...and knew how to fight symbiotes.

Chaos came to life in recorded time and launched straight up.

Spiderman himself blinked several times. Grasping the fact he'd seen real fear in the eyes of this new person that was apparently bonded with a symbiote. He'd had sensed no malice in woman or symbiote.

Concerned none the less he extended a hand and shot out a web line. He had fallen asleep and fallen off the underside of the fire escape after all to land on the girl. He also wanted to know about this new symbliote, after all the last few were…not as nice as to not attack and flail.
