Title: When Fools Rush In
Chapter Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Tamaki x Haruhi
Show: Ouran High School Host Club
Summary: Is this the final goodbye, the beginning of a new future, or…?
Disclaimer: OOC. Yep, major OOC and that this is obviously AU since Mori, Honey, Tamaki, and Kyouya should have graduated by now if Ouran actually ‘passed grade’ with the seasons, lol. And that Haruhi wouldn’t have said yes so easily, though, in Tamaki’s dense mind, and mine, it could work.

Also: I dun own dat Ouran dey got up in deyr datz all ownd by studio BONEZ n dat Hattori chick :P

And: This isn't proof-read, so yeah... errors abound.

“ Why am I here again?” She asked herself as she stood in the parlor of one of the host club member’s mansions. She scanned the room, holding a filled glass of apple cider, and sighed. Despite the fact that this was a graduation party, those guys couldn’t stop working their ‘charm’ on the guests of the party. “ I can’t believe this…” She mumbled.

“ Can’t believe what?”

“ Uwaaah!” She yelled out, startled at the unison question from the twins. She turned around and glared at the grinning brothers. “ Nothing.”

“ It’s milord’s graduation ceremony…” Kaoru began.

“ You’re killing the mood.” Hikaru concluded.

“ What mood?” She returned to looking back at the crowd of people, nearly none that she knew. “ I believe that this party’s mood has not been disturbed.” She sighed. “ Can’t believe you forced me to wear this dress.” The twins grinned and placed their arms on her shoulder.

“ It was because Milord requested it!” Kaoru said.

“ And its our own designs!” Hikaru added. “ It makes you look fuller, ne?”

“ … I do not think they’ll be paying attention to my chest size at this party … “ Haruhi mumbled, trying to move from their hold on her. The dress did accent her chest a bit, with the layers of pink silk bunching up at the bust and falling in layers, accenting her modest female curves. It seemed as if this dress was purposely designed for her, and all she could do was sigh and put it on when the garmet was delivered to her at school by the twins themselves.

They had reminded her that the guests at this party did not know of her situation with the Host Club and that she didn’t have to worry about playing the role of a male, but it didn’t help ease her nerves. To her, it didn’t matter if she was a male or a female; it was the comments or the looks that was occasionally sent towards her direction. After two years, she couldn’t escape the title of ‘ The Commoner ‘. She would have hoped, by now, that they would look beyond that.

But then, she would stop to think and realize that the host club didn’t think all too much.

The Hitachiin Brothers released their possessive hold on Haruhi and parted ways with her, obviously bored, trying to find something else to quirk their low attention span. Haruhi sighed, and made her way to the nearest table; sitting down on one of the the elaborate chairs that circled the table and placed her, now warm, apple cider on top of the white clothed table.

She watched the guest dance and talk, either about Tamaki Suoh and his graduation from the prestigous Ouran Acedemy or about other business afairs that had nothing to do with the party that they were attending. Truly, events like these didn’t quirk her interest. Dance Parties involved music and laughter, not stotic attitudes and ‘robotic’ dancing.

Which brought her back to the person in which this party was in honor for. Tamaki Suoh, King of the Host Club, Son of the Academy’s Chairman…. The now, graduated, man with high honors and a guarenteed future of success and wealth. It wasn’t as if she was jealous of the eighteen year old young man, no, why would she? She was top honors in her class, graduating next year, and off to a prestigous university of Law… there was nothing to be jealous of when it came to that.

It was more of the feeling of… him not being there in her life as he was during those two years in the host club. Haruhi closed her eyes and placed her head in the palm of her hand, arm resting on the table. Why do I even care? She thought. I should be glad that he’s gone… right? She looked up and noticed Tamaki talking with one of his father’s aquiantences. For some reason, he looked… different, as if, he had matured the moment he received that diploma just a few hours ago.

“ What’cha looking at, Haru-chan?” Honey asked, taking Haruhi out of her thoughts.

“ Ah, hello, Honey.” She said, with a smile.

“ Are you looking at Tamaki?” He asked, it still amazed her on how this nineteen year old, if you could say ‘man’, still talked and acted as if he was twelve.

“ Ah…” She laughed, nervously. “ What makes you think that?”

“ You were staring with that longing gaze in his direction.”

“ Ah.” Came Mori’s quick, assertion. Ah, yes, Honey was never without Mori. Hearing Mori without knowing his arrival became a normal occurance, so it never startled her after she got used to it.

“ I was looking outside!” Haruhi said, trying to prove Honey’s deductive reasoning was wrong.

“ Hmm… Okay! Well, be sure to wish him good luck, Haru-chan!” And, then, the two were off as quickly as they came.

“ Have you noticed Haruhi tonight, Tamaki?” Came Kyouya’s cool, swift, question. Tamaki turned his attention from Kyouya and at Haruhi’s direction. Kyouya pushed his glasses up the brim of his nose.

“ S-s-s-she…”

“ Yes, she’s wearing the dress you specifically picked out for her.” Kyouya took his glass of champagne into his hand. “ The twins were pleased at your decision, by the way.”

“ So cute….” Tamaki said, almost as if he was looking at a little girl dressed up for the first time in her new summer dress.

“ I would think it would be best if you go to her now, while the party is still active, and do what you have to do instead of waiting for the party to end and missing your chance.” Kyouya twirled the champagne in his glass in a steady motion, looking at the golden, bubbly, liquid spin as Tamaki debated with himself. Kyouya smiled with accomplishment as Tamaki got up from his seated position and crossed the parlor over to Haruhi. “ And now for some excitement….” He took a sip from his glass.

Tamaki stood in front of Haruhi, hesitating a bit before extending his hand to her. Haruhi looked up and blinked.

“ Hello, Tamaki.” She said to the graduate. He cleared his throat and closed his eyes.

“ I nee--er,” He opened his eyes. “ Would you like to walk somewhere with me for a bit?”

“ Why?”

“ Because… I like to be somewhere quiet for a bit…”

“ I sense skepticism.”

“ Come on, Haruhi…!” He nearly whinned, Haruhi sighed in defeat and placed her hand ontop of his palm, allowing him to lead her out of the parlor and into the hallways of his family’s mansion.

The two walked silently, aside one another, neither holding hands. Simply walking, looking ahead, the dark hallways only accented by the full moon that accentuated the spring night. The silence adding more ackwardness to the moment. So many thoughts were running through their minds, it seemed as if their minds were going to break soon if no one talked.

When they were far enough from the party, when the music was just a faint whisper down the hall, Tamaki stopped.

“ Why did you stop?” Haruhi asked, stopping in her footsteps, turning around to look at Tamaki. Tamaki stepped closer, the two facing each other, only centimeters apart from each other. “ What is it Tamaki?”

“ I wanted to tell you that I will be returning to France in two weeks.” Tamaki said, almost rushing the words. Haruhi stood there in silence, why did it seem as if he was leaving her… forever?

“ I see… Well, good luck and… congratulations on your gradutation.” Haruhi winced mentally, she wished she could have came up with a better response but…. That was all she could think of to say.

“ … Thank… you…”

“ I think I should… be going… home now…” Haruhi said, moving away from Tamaki. “ My father is coming up late tonight and I’m worri—Tamaki!” She was in his embrace, his arms bringing her close against his body, burrying his face in her brown hair. Haruhi was shocked, her mind couldn’t calculate anything at this moment.

“ I do not want to leave you, Haruhi….” Tamaki began. “ I…I…” Haruhi stood there, still, the words running through her head. Please, don’t let him say it over and over as a litany. Tamaki let her go and got on one knee, he took her right hand into his left and kissed it.

“ Tama…ki…?” She laughed nervously. “ I don’t know what’s going on, but you’re scaring me.”

“ I want you in my life, Haruhi.” He reached into the pocket of his suit jacket and pulled out a velvet box, temporarliy letting go of her hand, he opened the box and presented to her a diamond ring…

“ En…gagemen…t… r-r-r-ing….?” Haruhi felt like fainting then and there. “ This is a joke, this has to be a joke, this is not real… no, no, no!” She tried to pull her hand from his grasp, but he held her delicate hand firmly.

“ Fujioka Haruhi,” Tamaki began, his face so sincere as he looked up at Haruhi, the girl on the bridge of tears because she can’t put this situation together in logical sense. “ Will you be my… wife?”

“ I…” Nothing came out. “ I…” Again, nothing would come out.

“ Haruhi?”

Haruhi slowly sat down on the floor, staring at her hands, mind running wild. Things weren’t adding up, things weren’t computing. None of this was making sense. She looked up at Tamaki, staring into his blue eyes… and then she hugged him, wrapping her arms around his neck, burrying her face in against his neck.

“ I…” She began to whisper. “ … will.” She looked at him, and he captured her lips in a kiss, her hands in his hair as her’s clung to his body. Pulling away from each other, he took the ring from the box and slipped it onto her ring finger, slowly, kissing the ring and then pulling her into his lap, his hands stroking her short brown strands.

“ Grow your hair out for me….” Tamaki whispered.

“ I can’t.”

“ Why?” He intertwined his right hand with her’s, thumb idly rubbing against her engagement ring.

“ I won’t.”

“ Haruhi….!” Tamaki whinned. “ I want to see you with your long pretty hair! Your father demands it!”

“ What are you rambling about?” Haruhi sighed. “ Fathers don’t marry their daughters.” She chuckled and Tamaki brought her closer. “ I don’t even know why I said yes.”

“ It’s because… we’re destined.” Tamaki pointed to one of the bright stars decorating the late night sky.

“ Only you would believe such non-sense….”

“ Its not nonsense, its fact.”

“ Now I see why…” She laughed. “ Now I see why…”

Kyouya stood with the host club members, the remaining and the now graduated, a smile of accomplishment on his features. It was almost a second nature to the young, talented, man that those two would finally see through the clouded viels they placed in front of their eyes. It seemed as if the King was entering the ballroom with his Queen, Kyouya noted, as the two reentered the parlor, hand in hand, to share a dance, the engagement ring clearily noticible, shining proudly against the room’s lights.

“ Ah, Mrs. Suoh in the making.” Hikaru stated, looking at the dancing couple.

“ She seems move lively.” Honey added. “ Happy!”

“ Ah.” Mori merely said. Kyouya pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose.

“ Though he may have proposed and she has accepted, it doesn’t mean that it’s official.” An amused expression dawned on his sharp features. “ There is still his grandmother to approve.”

“ But knowing him,” Kaoru began.

“ He’ll probably choose Haruhi over this fortune.” Hikaru ended.

“ I doubt Tamaki is that foolish.”

“ We’ll see.” The twins said in unison.

“ Is this your unexpected event, Kyouya?” Mori asked.

“ I wouldn’t want to call it that.”

Then what would you have called it, Kyouya?
