I'm in an evil mood. Mwahahahahahaha! Enjoy, Basi. I wrote this just to spite you.
She bites her lip as the pain racks her body. I will not give them the pleasure of hearing me scream, she thinks to herself. They may have broken my body, but they will never break my spirit. Her decision is short-lived, however. The pain comes in waves, forcing her newly formed resolve to waver. She doesn't even realize when her mouth opens. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

She looks around, perplexed. It has to be somewhere nearby, she reflects. The sound was coming from right around…There! She heads towards the cell door, apprehensive about what she might find. Was she still alive? Please let her be all right. I can't bear losing anyone else right now.

She looks up as the cell door opens. She blinks, not believing her eyes. "Marc?" she whispers questioningly, so softly it can barely be heard.
"It's me."
She looks down at the pain in her friend's face, pain that is barely hidden by the glint of hope in her eyes. She would do anything to end that pain. Unbidden, an idea pops into her mind. No, she thinks. I can't do that. It's too risky. She looks down at her friend's face once more. The pain there is unbearable, and she realizes that this is the only way.
"Marc?" she asks again. What was going on? Why did Marc have such a strange look on her face?
