I watched you leave the mansion to get the cure. I flew over as you left. I saw your beauty, and maybe you saw mine. You had looked up, feeling the eyes of someone watching you.

I landed to talk to you. You stopped. “Wow. You look like an angel.”

“My name’s Warren Worthington.”

“I’m R- Marie.” You sighed and looked scared.

“Where you off to? Getting the cure?”

“I have to. I can’t live with this power.”

“Why? What is it?” You give a look before reaching out to touch me- give me a small kiss on the cheek. I feel something happening, something disappearing. You pulled away, scared, afraid.

“I take people’s life force. In a mutant, I take their power. I’ve almost killed two boyfriends and close friend. I need this cure.”

I nod, understanding your reasoning. “I would do the same if I were you. Go. I won’t keep you any longer.” It’s then that I realize you said boyfriend. “Hey, Marie. You still this guy?”

“I’m still with one. But I think he’s pulling away from me. Bye, Angel.” You leave me standing there, amazed by everything you are.

Bobby leads me to my room. I’ll ask him about Marie. Maybe he can tell me who she’s dating. “Hey, you know Marie, right?”

“I better. She’s my girlfriend. Why? How did you meet her?”

I have to think of something. “Um, she recommended this place for to me as a safe haven. Do you know where she is?”

“I’ll try to find her for you. Want to say hi?’

“Yeah.” I chuckle a little. I didn’t tell him she left to get the cure. I figured he should discover this on his own.

A few minutes later, the door slams. Guess he found out.

I go for a little walk around the grounds and see a girl. She’s about fifteen, maybe sixteen. She sees me, too. I hid my wings before I went out so she can’t see those. She comes over to talk to me.

“Hi. You must be new. I know practically everyone here. I’m Kitty Pryde.”

“Hi. I’m Warren.”

“How long have you been here?”

“A couple hours. Why?”

“Just curious. So what’s your power?”

“I can fly.”

“Like birds?”

“Kinda. More like an angel,” I said, using the name Marie used earlier.

“Cool. Well, I have to go study. Science, can’t live with it can’t live without it. See you around, Warren.” She waves as she runs off. I can see making friends at this place will be easy.
