Hey, it's Kylis. This is going to be my second story on this sight, and it's pretty much 'cause I have writer's block for my other one. Regardless, I want everyone to R&R!
A Ghost of a Thought
Chapter1
"Baka baka baka baka baka baka BAKA!" Kyo kicked the trash can at the side of the street, his face full of annoyance. 'Why? Why couldn't I have just told her? I'm such a BAKA!'
He sighed in frustration as he entered Shigure's house, kicking off of his shoes. He could hear Shigure and Yuki and Tohru in the kitchen, but he didn't join them. Instead, he headed up to his favorite place to think; the roof.
Laying on his back, he looked at the stars, watching one blink, realizing it was a plane. One of the annoyances in life. Stupid planes that look like stupid stars.
He growled at himself, sitting up, running his fingers through his flaming hair. Why was it so difficult? He could just go out and say it, that he loved her, but he couldn't bring himself to do even that simple task.
Standing, he made to go back down the ladder and into the house, but right when he turned to descend the ladder, a voice came to his ear. "You seemed troubled, carrot-top."
"GAHH!" Startled, Kyo lost his grip on the ladder, ending up falling the whole way down. Swearing, he pushed himself up off of the wet grass. "Who the hell was that?" It was yet another simple question he didn't know the answer to.
"Lookin' for me?" He started again, the orange cat ears popping from his head, hair standing on end. In front of him was a girl, around his age, with long flaming orange hair and garnet eyes, so much like his own. Yet that's not what startled him.
He reached out his hand, and it went right through her arm. He yanked it back, pushing himself away from her. 'What the hell is she?' She looked solid enough at first, but his experiment just then had proved that sight could be wrong.
"Ya just gonna sit there gappin' at me or are ya gonna talk?" She looked annoyed with him, and it was an expression others often saw on Kyo's face.
Kyo closed his mouth, just then realizing it was open. He took a second to get a good look at her. She was wearing a dress a couple of shades darker than her hair, with gold trim on the edges and around the waist. He also noticed there was a cat-like gracefulness when she moved, and that kind of set him off.
"Who... Who are you?" It wasn't his usually pissed off voice. On the contrary, it was a puzzled, inquisitive voice.
"Kyo? Who're you talking to out there?" It was Shigure. Trust him to burst in right when he was getting some answers. Kyo yelled something back to him. "No one! Leave me alone, I'll be in in a minute."
He heard a hopeless sigh, then the closing of a door. With an expression mirroring the girl's annoyed one, he turned back to her. "So? Who are you?"
To his amazement, she smirked, putting her face next to his ear. What unnerved him the most is that he couldn't feel her. Not her presence, not her breath, not a hint of warmth. But what she said is what shocked him the most.
"I... am the spirit of the cat."
Kyo blinked for a moment as she pulled back. He looked at her dumbly for a few seconds, then was able to muster a stumbling word. "W-what?"
Her face was annoyed again. "Don't make me say it twice, carrot-top. Not when I know you heard me the first time."
A vein appeared on his forehead. "Hey! Don't think you can show up and call me carrot-top and just burst out 'I'm the spirit of the cat!' It makes no sense!"
Now he was really pissed off. He got like that when he didn't understand something. "And by the way, don't call me carrot-top!"
She just watched him rant, amused. "I can call you carrot-top all I want. Until recently I was part of you, so I can call you anything I want. But now I've decided you need a little guidance." Right before his eyes, she seemed to solidify, completely. He confirmed it when he touched her arm and he felt the fabric of her dress. And when she slapped him for it.
"I'm going to be hanging here for a while and make sure you do what you've got to do."
Alright, that's done. Sorry it's so short, but my chapters tend to be that. I won't be writing my next chapter until I get at least 5 reviews. Critisism is appreciated, as long as it has foundation. And remember, reviews keep me alive...
