Author's Note: Okay, so I'm going to start writing the HSM Romance Challenges, so here's a one-shot for me to get started. This one is not part of it. It's just an idea I had. It's getting me pumped up to start that Romance Challenge.

Troy was walking on the dirt, holding the hand of his daughter, Cindy, who's other hand was being held by her mother. Troy looked at the mother of his child, his wife, and smiled, at her and the baby in her hands. She sent back the smile and turned to the little girl, bending down to her level, stopping at where she was.

"You ready, sweetie?" The little girl nodded. Gabriella smiled as Troy picked up Cindy, setting her on top of the large, brown horse. She grabbed a hold of the reigns and turned to her daddy. She had a frightened look on her face, seeing how tall and large the horse is. She felt tears spring up to her eyes and looked at her father.

"Daddy," she whined, hold her hands out for him to grab her and set her on the safe, leveled ground. He chuckled and wiped away the few tears that had fallen on her cheeks.

"Be a big girl, Cindy, for me." Cindy smiled as her daddy gave her a kiss on the forehead. He started to walk away with Gabriella when she called out to him.

"Walk beside the pony, Daddy; it's my first ride." Troy smiled as Gabriella walked out of the circled area and rested upon the fence, her video/photo camera ready in her hands, the baby girl in the stroller next to her.

The horses started to move as did Troy, in motion with the horses small speed. Cindy started giggling when she bounced a little from the horse's walk. Troy smiled at her and started to chuckle to himself. He walked passed Gabriella and said to his daughter, "Wave to the camera, sweetheart." She turned to face her mom and started to wave.

"I did it, mommy. Look at me, I'm riding the horse." Gabriella smiled and congratulated her. She smiled as she saw they keep walking, and put the video on pause, waiting for them to come around again.

Troy kept walking with his daughter and she smiled at him, her front tooth missing. "So, Daddy, when we get home, can I bake my birthday cake?"

There's two things I know for sure:
She was sent here from heaven and she's
daddy's little girl.
As I drop to my knees by her bed at night
She talks to Jesus and I close my eyes and
I thank god for all the joy in my life
Oh, but most of all

It was the afternoon, and Troy was sitting on the couch, reading today's newspaper. He got up and walked to the kitchen, not taking his eyes off of the paper. He walked to the fridge and heard a small gasp. He thought it was something small, as it usually was. Cindy gasped at almost everything. He pulled out a glass from the cabinet and pulled out milk from the fridge pouring it into the glass and setting it back in the frigde shuting the large, silver door. He turned around and looked up. His jaw dropped as he saw his daughter, her almond brown eyes filled with fear as he scanned her: her chocolate brown curls that fell a little below her elbows were covered in flour, along with the barettes and ribbons in her hair, her tanned complexion was filled with powder as well, mainly on her forehead, cheeks, and nose, while her hands had been filled with the juice from the egg and powder, same as her outfit: a pink tee with a matching, flower printed skirt and pink Mary Janes, and a small white apron that said 'Mommy's Helper' in bold pink letters. Her mouth was open and she muttered a small "Oops." How can a child so young cause so much chaos in less than five minutes. Gabriella had gone upstairs to check on the baby and told Troy to watch her. He didn't suspect she was capable of this. He put the paper down on the counter next to his milk and walked over to her. He smiled as he said, "Shake."

"Huh?" Cindy was obviously confused.

"Shake, to get all of that flour out." Troy started to shake a little then stopped, looking at her. "Now, you," he told her. She smiled and started to shake her body, the shaking her head. Troy smiled and once she was done, he started to pat away all of the flour off of her. Once she looked clean, he sent her to the bathroom to wash her hands and finish cleaning up. She climbed down her stool and ran to the closest bathroom. Troy laughed as set all of the dishes in the sink. He grabbed a towel and set it under the sink, pouring the water on it. He walked to the counter filled with powder and started to wipe away. He managed to wipe it all off, a lot of it falling onto the floor. He grabbed the broom and started to sweep away, then putting in onto a dusting pan and throwing it in the trash. He washed the dishes and dried them. He heard a bing and a confused look crossed his face. He saw Cindy run from the bathroom to the kitchen, looking up and smiling.

"The cake's done."

For butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer;
sticking little white flowers all up in her
hair; "Walk beside the pony, Daddy, it's my first ride."
"I know the cake looks funny, Daddy, but I sure tried."
In all that I've done wrong I know I must
have done something right to deserve a hug
every morning and butterfly kisses at night.

Troy signed as he saw daughter in her room, spritzing a small amount of perfume on her body. She shook and looked into the mirror, seeing her dad in the reflection. She smiled at her dad and turned around. Troy caught his breath, never realizing how much she resembled her mother. She looked like an exact replica of her mother at that age. He smiled and walked up to her, giving her a hug. She hugged him back, confusingly, and raised an eyebrow once they broke apart. He shrugged and replied, "My little girl's growing up. This is the last time I'll be giving you a hug at the age of 15." She smiled, realizing she was still 15 until 7:17 p.m. "Let me get a look at you," he said, feeling the tears making their way to his eyes. He examine her: a blue halter top, covered with a cropped jean jacket with black pants and pointed-toed boots, her curls falling down a little below her elbow. And he had to admit, she looked goregeous then he went to concerned. "Why is there only one strap around your neck?" Troy started to turn her around and his eyes widened when he noticed hte dress had no straps, meaning it could fall any time, at a party, where there would be boys, not just any boys, but popular, 16-year-old jock boys, and all kinds of other 16-year-old boys, popular or not. That's why his daughter was popular, she was friends with everyone. Cindy just chuckled.

"Daddy," Cindy grunted. "It's a halter. I know you know what it is. And mom gave it to me. She said it would look nice for tonight."

"Your mom? She doesn't wear that stuff." Suddenly, Gabriella appeared in the doorway, wearing a short green dress over a pair of dark-washed denim jeans, and silver ballet flats. Troy grunted.

"Must you wear that? It might attract guys."

"I know," Gabriella said smirking. Troy's eyebrows raised as she continued, "It's working for the only person who's allowed to be attracted by it." Troy smiled and walked over to her.

"Oh yeah, it's working real well," Troy said before kissing her. She kissed him back as they deepened it, then broke when she heard an "Ahem".

"Sorry," they both mumbled to their daughter. She gave a "Yeah, you should" look before returning to applying her make-up.

"Cindy, you look really pretty," Cindy's 12-year-old sister, Lepe, called out. She came in, followed by their 7-year-old brother, Manny, and their 4-year-old brother, Nick.

"Yeah," both boys said. Cindy laughed and gave them both hugs, then she brought Lepe over and started to apply a little make-up to her.

"Babe, it's time to come down. People will be here any minute." Gabriella walked down the stairs, followed by her other three children and joined Taylor, who was finishing up decorating, and checking the food that Zeke had made, then sitting down and joining the old gang, as their children, ages 5-17, were walking around the house, waiting for Cindy to come down so she can greet her first guests.

"You know how much I love you, Daddy," Cindy started, looking at her dad, "But if you don't mind, I'm only gonna kiss you on the cheek this time." Troy smiled and nodded, before she gave him a kiss on the cheek and he gave her a kiss on the forehead, watching her walk down the stairs to greet her family friends, who she considered her cousins. She smiled back up at her dad, who had followed her down the stairs and called out to him, causing him to turn back.

She pointed at the clock and smiled. "I'm sixteen."

Sweet 16 today
She's looking like her mama a little more everyday
One part woman, the other part girl.
To perfume and make-up from ribbons and curls
Trying her wings out in a great big world.

But I remember
Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer; sticking
little white flowers all up in her hair.
"You know how much I love you, Daddy, But if you
don't mind I'm only gonna kiss you on the cheek this time."
With all that I've done wrong I must have done
something right to deserve her love every morning
and butterfly kisses at night.

All the precious time
Like the wind, the years go by.
Precious butterfly.
Spread your wings and fly.

"Don't worry, Cindy, you'll be fine. Everyone gets nervous on their wedding day," Gabriella told her. She was adjusting the veil on her daughter's head when she heard a man's voice call out, "Knock, Knock". It was Troy. Both girls turned to him and smiled. They looked at him for a moment and went back to finishing up. They had an extra ten minutes, so Troy and Gabriella took a seat on the love seat and Cindy looked at her dad.

"What'cha thinking?"

"I'm not sure," Troy replied. "I just feel like I'm losing my baby girl." Cindy smiled and gave her daddy a butterfly kiss (a quick kiss, in a father/daughter way, not lovers). They both smiled as a 22-year-old Lepe appeared in the doorway, in her maid-of-honor gown.

"Cindy, it's time," she said, followed in by their now-17-year-old brother Manny, and now 14-year-old brother, Nick, who were wearing their groomsmen tuxes.

"Cindy, you look great," Manny said, giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"My oldest sister is getting married," Nick said, giving her a hug. All the siblings started to hug and almost began to tear up, but stopped themselves.

"Alright, time to go," Manny said, sniffling, along with the others. The siblings walked off with their mother as Troy was left alone with his daughter.

She'll change her name today.
She'll make a promise and I'll give her away.
Standing in the bride-room just staring at her.
She asked me what I'm thinking and I said "I'm not
sure-I just feel like I'm losing my baby girl."
She leaned over...gave me butterfly kisses with her mama there,
Sticking little white flowers all up in her hair
"Walk my down the aisle, Daddy-it's just about time."
"Does my wedding gown look pretty, Daddy? Daddy, don't cry!"

Oh, with all that I've done wrong I must have
done something right.
To deserve your love every morning and butterfly
kisses-I couldn't ask God for more, man this is what love is.

I know I gotta let her go, but I'll always remember
every hug in the morning and butterfly kisses.

"Walk me down the aisle, Daddy. It's just about time." She moved the train of her gown and got ready. "Does my wedding gown look pretty, Daddy?" She noticed Troy starting to cry and looked into his eyes. "Dady, don't cry! You're going to make me cry," she said, holding back her tears. Troy chuckled and wiped away his tears, and offered out his elbow. They walked behind the people in the wedding and waiting. Once the wedding march began, Cindy whispered to her father keeping her eyes set ahead of her.

"I'm getting married."
