This is my first Firefly piece, so here's hoping it's not too bad, eh? Althought, it's actually based during the BDM... Anyway, enjoy and review, please:)

Everyone is dead, and she isn't sure whether she should laugh or cry. She cries. She can hear them, hear the silence of death, so quiet and it terrifies her, that silence.

"There's been no war, and no terraforming event..."

And they didn't care. They didn't care that they were dying, that their children and parents and friends were dying, that their world was dying. They didn't care. They let themselves die and that was what scared her the most, the idea of just dying, disappearing, becoming part of the silence.

"...supposed to calm the population, weed out aggression..."

She knew. She's known forever, she can't remember a time when she didn't. The silence encompasses her, swallows her whole, and she becomes as dead as the rest of them, yet not. The silence calls out to her, begs her to set it free, set them free.

"Well, it works."

She can hear them all. Every single one, in every home and every room, every man and woman and child, each voice inside her and outside her and saying nothing at all.

"Renci de Shangdi, qing dai wo zou. Wo xiang mei er, mei xin bian shitou, please God make me a stone..."

Merciful God please take me away. I will close my eyes and my heart and become a stone, please God make me a stone...

"Get up!"

"There's a million people here and they all just let themselves die."

"Please get up!"

"We meant it for the best..."

She doesn't want to die. She doesn't. She wants to live, free from this secret, free from the silence, free from the voices that never speak. She wants to be free!

She is their voice now, and it's time for that voice to speak.
