'They forgot to feed me again.' He thought, picking at the floor with his beak. 'I wish Sirius was still here. He fed me.'
He looked out the window, and saw a fat load of nothing.
'At least the sun's out. I miss being in the sun.'
He often considered making a break for it, but always reminded himself that he was a wanted creature.
'Even though it was that useless git that charged me. I was just defending myself. I hardly scratched the little baby anyways.'
He started preening, keeping ears open for any signs of life.
Being a hippogriff who couldn't read a clock, he didn't know how long it was until he finally heard footsteps coming towards his door.
'Yes! Maybe I'll finally get food!'
He started squawking low, hoping not to wake that screaming woman-thing.
"I hear you, I hear you."
It was Lupin, the werewolf. The man bowed low, and he returned the gesture quickly, hoping to get fed faster.
"Here you go..."
The man threw a ferret, which the hippogriff caught in his beak.
'Yes! It's still warm!' He thought, as he chomped on the dead animal. He danced as he swallowed , moving around the floor as far as his chain would allow.
"Easy there." The man warned, taking a seat on the desk. Remus tossed another ferret, which the creature caught.
'Mmmm...ferret.'
He felt scratching on the back of his head. Still chomping, he leaned into the affectionate touch.
"Sorry I couldn't get her sooner, Buckbeak. I was held up again on patrol."
'Yeah, yeah, sure, sure, gimme another ferret.'
"It must be easier, being a hippogriff.I wonder if you miss Sirius?" The werewolf thought aloud.
He paused. 'Course I do. He was the only one that remembered to feed me consistently.'
Absentmindedly, Remus threw the last carcass. With one last pat on the head, the man walked out of the study.
'Why do they always think I'm not smart enough to know what's going on?' He thought, swallowing the last of the mustelid. 'I'm the one that saved those kids from that werewolf, that the girl was stupid enough to call.' He squawked again. 'I'm the one that helped Sirius get away from Hogwarts, and helped him hide.'
Huffing, the creature flopped onto the floor.
'I wish I could talk. I'd give them all a good piece of my mind.'
