Sequel Ideas
Obviously, by rights, this isn’t really a chapter, but my ideas for sequels for “Scars of the Past”. But I hope you’ll read and review anyway, and that you’ll read these sequels when they are posted.
But first, I would like to address something:
I realize that I have left many of the show’s unanswered questions just that unanswered. There’s Uncle Iroh’s trip to the Spirit World, Master Yu and Xin Fu who are after Toph and Aang, Koh the Face-Stealer, Katara’s necklace with Water from the Spirit Oasis, the whole Zuko/Mai question, what actually happened to Princess Ursa, the Fire Nation’s use of the War Balloon obtained in episode seventeen, is Aang really the Last Airbender, and I’m sure there are at least a thousand other things that I’ve left out. But the fact of the matter is that there are too many loose ends to tie up in a single fanfiction, but I promise that if you stick with this series of fanfics, I’ll answer most of, if not, all of these questions. Just think of “Scars of the Past” as the mainstream of the current story. Let’s face it; Avatar is a series, so a lot of little off-to-the-side adventures and happenings would have occurred during this time period. An example of one is my soon-to-be-posted one-shot “Night Changes Many Thoughts” which takes place between chapters four and five, and will delve a little deeper into Katara and Zuko’s childhoods.
As for feature events of this un-named fanfic series…
I’ll probably do two sequels. The first, “One Sky, One Destiny” will be multi-chaptered but probably much shorter than “Scars of the Past”.
About one year after the defeat of the Fire Lord. Everyone is still working to recover from the Hundred Year War; this is basically the aftermath. The companions have split up, at least one of them going to each of the four nations to do their part in helping restore their world. Suki is back on Kyoshi Island helping to repair it after all the damage it’s had; Sokka is in the South Pole, helping rebuild it and make it stronger (and trying to learn Waterbending on top of that!); Aang is in the Northern Air Temple teaching Airbending to Teo and some of the others, so that he will not truly be the last of the Airbenders; Toph is with him, though she’s not very happy in a place where she can’t do much Earthbending. As for Katara, she is in the Fire Nation at Zuko’s request. No Fire Lord has yet been set up and Iroh is acting as temporary Steward and caretaker until one can step forth to take the throne. Will Zuko decide to claim his rightful place? Oh, and one more thing. Katara’s sixteen now. That means she’s of marrying age…
Warning! Serious spoilers below. Do NOT read on if you do not want to know what happens in the first sequel.
The second sequel, as of yet, un-named. This one will probably be about as long or longer than “Scars of the Past”.
Five years after the defeat of Fire Lord Ozai, four years after the events of “One Sky, One Destiny”. At this time, Zuko and Katara have just had their first child; Sokka and Suki have recently gotten married and Aang and Toph are still together. Aang and Toph have been staying in Omashu with King Bumi, Sokka and Suki are in the Southern Water Tribe, and Uncle Iroh is acting as Chief Advisor to the Fire Lord (not gonna tell you who the Fire Lord is). Meanwhile, Azula is still wandering the Fire Nation, a fugitive on charges of treason against the crown. Jealous of her older brother’s happiness, she is determined to bring him down. When Zuko and Katara’s son is kidnapped, Azula is the obvious culprit. But was it Azula? Is there something darker and more secret going on here? The companions all gather together again in order to rescue Zuko and Katara’s son. Will they be successful? Or will they be too late…
