The only TWO who reviewed! THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES TO GET CYBERCOOKIES! ahem coughcough sorry...uh...now on with the story...

Storm sat in her office. The office that used to belong to Charles Xavier. The man who founded this school. She held her head in her hands. She squeezed her eyes shut as a tear fell down her face. Charles was the one who had found her and several other students. The loss of such a great teacher and friend had affected many of the students, as well as Storm and Wolverine. She jumped when she felt a hand rest on her shoulder. She looked up and sighed in relief when she recognized who was standing over her. It was Logan, or Wolverine as he was more known as. He was wearing a white shirt with a leather jacket zipped halfway up. His hair was the way she had always remembered, as was the stubby cigar in his mouth. She placed her hand over his and turned away in the chair. (No, this is not Storm x Wolverine)

“Are you alright?” He asked, taking the cigar out of his mouth and putting it out, “You’ve seemed more and more distant recently. I’ve been worried about you.”

“I’m fine Logan. I was just remembering. Remembering how things used to be.”

“Well those times aren’t now. You need to move on.” He said walking around the desk to look her right in the face. “You have a bunch of students who are counting on you now. It’s been seven months, Storm. It’s time to let go.”

Storm looked out the window at the tombstone resting outside. It was Charles’ tombstone. “I know, Logan. It’s just hard to say goodbye to so many friends.” She looked to the two tombstones sitting beside Charles’. They were Scott’s and Jean’s.

“I know, Storm. I know. They were my friends, too.”

“Even Scott?” She asked, a playful tone to her voice. Wolverine and Scott had both loved Jean and had always been at odds with each other.

He laughed slightly as he answered, “Yeah, even Scott.” They both smiled as they looked out the window, memories playing over in their heads. Their memories were interrupted by a knocking on the door. Wolverine went to answer it. Standing in the doorway was the girl. She looked to be about sixteen; and frightened. “Can I help you?” he asked.

“Uh, I heard that this was a school for mutants. A place where mutants could be safe.”

“You heard right.” Storm said, standing up and waving to a chair. “Come, sit down. My name is Ororo Monroe, but you can call me Storm. And this is my friend, Logan, but as he’s called here, Wolverine.” The girl walked over and sat down. Wolverine shut the door behind her. He walked over and stood behind Storm. “Now, what’s your name?” she asked.

“Abyss.” The girl curtly answered.

Storm smiled slightly. “No, what’s your real name?”

Abyss sighed slightly. “Solita.” She quietly said.

Storm smiled brighter. “Welcome to Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, Solita.”

“Thanks.” Solita quietly thanked.

“You’re welcome. Now, I need to ask you a few questions.”

Solita stiffened slightly. “What type of questions?” she asked warily.

Storm was taken aback at her wariness. “Nothing deep, just some questions that I need to know before you can start school here. Uh, First Question: What is your power?”

Solita paused a moment before answering. “I erase people’s memories.”

Storm paused for a moment. “E-excuse me?”

“I said I erase people’s memories. If they look into my eyes, they start forgetting things like, who they are, or where they are. And if they look into my eyes long enough, they can forget everything. Even how to breathe. That’s why I wear these glasses. So no one can get their memory erased by me. And possibly lose their lives.”

Storm sat back in her chair, shocked. She had never heard of a mutant with powers like these before. “Uh, I, uh, okay, well, the second question: Do your parents know you’re here?”

Even though she could not see them, Storm knew Solita’s eyes just darkened. “My mother does; my father threw me out of the house when he learned of my being a mutant. He never cared.”

“I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay, I don’t miss him.”

“Okay, well, the last question, Have you heard of someone named Magneto?”

Solita turned away for a moment. “Yes,” she finally and quietly answered. “Yes, I’ve heard of him.”

Storm looked up at Logan questioningly. He shook his head; he didn’t know what to say either. Who was this girl? Solita looked up at the two of them suddenly. “When do I start school?” she asked.

“Well, uh,” Storm stammered, “How does now sound?”

“Fine. Just show me where the rooms are so I can unload my stuff.”

“Right this way.” Storm said, standing and walking out the door. “If you’ll follow me.” Solita stood, grabbing her bags and following Storm. Wolverine sat down, starting to compile Solita’s schedule. He then looked up, thinking about the girl that he had just saw. She was really withdrawn. Of course, he had seen students that were withdrawn when they came here for the first time. But there was something different about this girl. Something dark and mysterious. Maybe something about her past. Much like himself. Why, when he first came to Xavier’s school, he hardly knew anything about himself. He set back to working on Solita’s schedule.

Storm entered the Girl’s dormitory. She pointed to an unused bed. “This is where you’ll be staying for the night.” Solita set her bags down on the bed and looked around. “If you need anything, just ask any of the students here, I’m sure they’d love to help you. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to be getting back to work. I’m glad you’re here, Solita.”

“Yeah, me too.” Solita said, starting to unpack her bags. “I’ll be down to get my schedule as soon as I’ve unpacked.”

“Okay,” Storm said as she left. Solita sat down on the bed, alone. She looked around the room, checking out the place that she was going to be staying for whoever knew how long. She knelt down and unlatched her suitcase and started pulling clothes out and putting them into the compartments underneath her bed. Once all of her clothes were unpacked and her suitcases put away, she stood and looked out the window on the side of her bed. She looked at all the kids playing, conversing, and studying. She thought of all that had happened to her. When she had found out that she was a mutant her mother was very understanding, unlike her father. Her father had gone into a rampage around the house. Screaming and yelling, he said, ‘No, not my daughter! No daughter of mine will be a mutant! I forbid it!’

Solita laughed once as she thought, ‘Yeah, dad. Well, it’s not like I wanted to be a mutant. It’s not like I had a choice.’ Even though she always had loved and continued to love her parents, her relationship with her father would never be the same again. A tear slipped down her face. ‘Dad, why did you have to say that? What did I ever do to you except become the one thing you hate? I love you, daddy.’

Her thoughts then turned to another person that she had loved, her friend, James, or as he now wanted to be called, Zeus. (His mutation was that he could spout lightning from his fingers) Solita and James had found out their mutation the same day. Unlike Solita’s mother, both of James’ parents had thrown him out of the house. And now, he was so filled with anger against the humans that he… Solita burst into tears when she thought of the last time she had seen James, about the last thing he had said to her.

(Flashback: Three weeks ago)

James, what’s wrong?” Solita asked, sitting down beside him in their secret place in the woods. When he didn’t answer, she placed a hand on his shoulder. “Please tell me what’s wrong.”

They stayed there for a few seconds before James answered. “I hate them.” He whispered. “I hate them all; and they hate us!”

Who, James? What are you talking about?”

I’m talking about humans. They hate us. They fear us.”

Solita sat next to him. “Can I tell you something?” she asked. He nodded. “My mother used to say, ‘Just because someone hates you, doesn’t mean you have to hate them back’. You know, she used to sing this song to me every night when I was little.” She started to sing.

I don't know if You can hear me
Or if You're even there
I don't know if You will listen
To a humble prayer
They tell me I am just an outcast
I shouldn't speak to You
Still, I see your face and wonder
Were You once an outcast, too?

God help the outcasts
Hungry from birth
Show them the mercy
They don't find on Earth
The lost and forgotten
They look to You still
God help the outcasts
Or nobody will

I ask for nothing
I can get by
But I know so many
Less lucky than I
God help the outcasts
The poor and down trod
I thought we all were
The children of God

I don't know if there's a reason
Why some are blessed, some not
Why the few You seem to favor
They fear us
Flee us
Try not to see us

God help the outcasts
The tattered, the torn
Seeking an answer
To why they were born
Winds of misfortune
Have blown them about
You made the outcasts
Don't cast them out
The poor and unlucky
The weak and the odd
I thought we all were
The children of God

(If you religiously disagree with this song; don’t get mad at me. These are just the lyrics to the song. I had no part in choosing what they said.)

I loved that song. And now that I’m a mutant; I know that some humans hate us, not all of them. Like me. Even when I thought I was human, I still treated mutants with kindness and respect. Not all of them accepted my help, but most did. They were relieved to find someone that was willing to help them, someone not afraid. Don’t let your anger rise up against every human just because those in power hate mutants. Would you hate a child just because their parents hate mutants? Would you hate everyone-“

James cut her off. “Solita, I’m leaving.”

You’re leaving? Where?”

Someplace where many other mutants share my beliefs. You heard of Magneto, right?”

I’ve heard that he is a very bad man. He’s killed several people just in trying to bring ‘peace’ to the world. He’s tried to kill all the humans because he believes them to be inferior to mutants. I can’t - I can’t believe that you’d want to join him!” A few moments passed between them with neither of them saying anything. James sat with his knees drawn into his chest and his chin resting on them. Solita’s hand still remained on his shoulder. “James,” Solita whispered, pausing to collect her thoughts. “James, I love you. I don’t want to lose you.”

James turned to Solita. He shifted position so that he was sitting on his knees in front of her. She was looking down at the grass. He put his finger under her chin and lifted her face to look at him. Tears were spilling out from under her glasses. “Solita, I love you, too.” He said before planting his lips on her in a deep kiss. He broke away after a few seconds. “Come with me.”

No. No, I can’t!” Solita said, tears choking her words.

Please.” James begged.

I’m sorry. I can’t.” Solita said. She got up and ran through the forest. She stopped suddenly and leaned against a tree, her tears coming freely now. She jumped when a hand was placed on her shoulder. “Oh, James,” she said, putting her hand over the one on her shoulder. She turned around, and screamed. Standing in front of her, was Magneto. He wore his usual garb, his metal helmet, and his dark clothes with his cape waving behind him. “Wha-what do you want?”

I’ve been watching you, Solita. Or should I call you, Abyss?” when she didn’t answer, he continued. “I was hoping to get you to see what I’ve been trying to tell all mutants. Humans are dangerous. They wish to destroy us!”

I don’t believe you. Not all humans are dangerous. They don’t all want to kill us. Some fear us because they don’t know what else to think or do with us. They fear us because they don’t understand us.”

James came out from behind the bushes. He stood behind Magneto. “I tried to get you to see reason, Solita. Can’t you see they wish to destroy us? All of us.”

No, they can’t. How can you just exterminate a large group of people like that? Hitler tried and look how that turned out!”

Magneto stiffened at the mention of that man. James countered with, “But that was because he had large countries that disagreed with him. Not to mention that Germany was already weakened because of WW1. If World War One hadn’t taken place, imagine what the outcome of World War Two would have been!”

Well, it certainly wouldn’t have been called World War Two, that’s for sure.” Solita smarted. James just crossed his arms.

You always were quick with the jokes weren’t you?”

James.” She pleaded. “Please don’t go against me on this.”

What! Me go against you! You’re going against me!” James yelled. He stepped in front of Magneto and stared at Solita. “I loved you, Solita, like I said, but if you go against me on this, I’ll no longer love you; you’ll be my enemy.”

Tears streamed once again down Solita’s face. “I-I’m sorry, James.” She whispered before bolting through the trees. James started running after her, but Magneto stopped him by tugging on his arm.

No.” he admonished. “Save your strength for later. You’ll need it.”

James stared at where Solita had vanished. It had pained him to say that, but it was true. She was now his enemy. James straightened and turned to leave with Magneto.

(End flashback)

Solita took in quick shaky breaths as she remembered that day. Tear poured out of her eyes and cries wracked her body. She couldn’t take it anymore; she threw off her glasses and she threw herself onto the bed and planted her face in her pillow. Tears poured out of her eyes and soaked into her pillow. She cried out loudly. She didn’t care if anyone heard her; she was in pain. Such intense pain that tore at her heart. The very thought that the only man she had ever loved had joined the one man she had sworn that she would hate for the rest of her life. She cried even harder as that thought entered her mind. What if she had to face James in a battle against Magneto? Would she have to kill him? Would she have to kill the only man she loved in order to save all of humanity?

She jumped when she heard someone calling out. “Are you okay? What’s wrong?” Solita quickly put her glasses on before turning to see who was there. It was a boy that looked to be about her age with black hair and grey eyes. He wore an olive green shirt with dark grey pants. He placed a hand on hers. “Is something wrong?” he asked, worry etched into his voice. She looked up into his grey eyes. Her tears left marks down her face.

“I-I think I’ll be okay.”

He sat down next to her on the bed. “Are you sure?”

She nodded and looked at him. “My name is Abyss. My real name is Solita.”

He smiled and stuck out his hand, “Eagle, or as my friends call me, Kadin. You can call me either.”

“Thanks…Kadin.” Solita said, smiling.

He wiped away her tears with his hand. “Now, are you gonna be okay?”

“Yeah,” Solita said. “Just had some bad memories come up.”

“I know what that’s like. Family issues?”

“And others.”

“I’m sorry. Look, I gotta get back to class, but if you ever need anyone to talk to, I’m just down the hall. Okay?”

“Okay, bye.” Solita said as he got up. She watched him leave. She hoped she would be able to see him again. She stood and went down the hall to the girl’s restroom and splashed some cold water on her face to clear her thoughts. She then walked back the way she had come in order to pick up her schedule from Wolverine. As she walked down the hallway, she knew that she would have her ups and downs here at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, or as some called it, Mutant High, but all in all, she felt that she would be happy here. At least, happier than she had been at home. She loved her parents, but it was time to turn another page in her life. Time to move on.

Okay, so this is the Second Chapter, what did you think? Did you like it? Okay, please R&R. I don’t know when I’ll have the next chapter up, but it’ll be good. Okay, gotta go! Bye!
