They'd succeeded in their "mission". She had been the only "casualty". Why did she have to trip? Those stupid, slimy floors had made her fall. There had been so much noise that the others hadn't even noticed. Doubtless they had noticed by now. Not that that would do any good for her now. So of course she had been captured.

And there she was, running for her life. Running from the dementor. Her wand had been taken from her and then she had been set loose in this maze with the dementor. Now she had to either find her way out of the maze or have her soul sucked out.

"Why are they so fast!" she thought to herself as she ran around a corner, panting.

She hit a dead end and cursed. The dementor was closing in on her. Fast. She turned to face it and began to collect her energy to try to perform a wandless spell that could save her life. She'd never been able to do it without a wand before, but maybe she'd get lucky. If not- she shivered at the alternative.

"Expecto patronum!" she yelled. A small white cloud issued from her outstretched palm, but nothing more.

She was recalling everything that had happened to her that day. The dementor was closing in on her. She needed a happier thought.

"Expecto patronum!" she yelled again, all of her will behind the words. It worked! A brilliant white creature emerged from her fingertips. She briefly wondered what it was, but had to focus on the spell. The dementor fled from it and happiness overcame her. She had done it! Suddenly, the color drained from her face and a chill crept up her spine. She turned around slowly andfound herself face-to-face with a dementor.

"Oh, damn," she groaned.

It leaned in closer. She could smell its putrid, rotting breath. It pulled back its hood and leaned in for the Kiss.

Her soul was being sucked out.

"No!" a boy about her age screamed. "You can't have her! Expecto patronum!"

A blinding patronus erupted from the end of the boy's wand. The dementor retreated and the girl's limp body fell to the ground. The boy ran to the girl's side.

"No," he collapsed into sobs, tears falling freely down his cheeks. "No, no, no. I love you, Luna Lovegood. Don't do this."

Luna moved her hand up to his cheek and brushed the tears from his cheeks. He looked at her, shocked. Then his face lit up.

"Luna! Oh, thank god. I thought I'd lost you," Neville exclaimed as he helped her sit up.

"I love you too, Neville Longbottom," she said just before she kissed him.

A/N - This story is meant to be a one-shot, but I could put a prologue after it (to keep the suspense of who it is).
