I couldn't remember the last time he looked at me with those eyes. The eyes blank of all emotion, yet fiery and insane. He continued to stare, as if there was no blood on his shirt, no blood on his face, and no blood on the knife held like a lifeline in his grasp. For a while, the situation didn't register. Who was the body at his feet, twitching in a sick, heart-wrenching manner? I stared back into his eyes, until those eyes sprung back to life, the insanity becoming the realest thing I could ever imagine. His grin went ear-to-ear, like the cut was across the corpse's throat. I stared, and looked down at the body. He looked so familiar. Short brown hair now crusted with crimson was sprayed in every direction. Blue eyes wide open, the oceanic color slowly fading away.

It was when I blinked for the first time in what seemed like a lifetime I finally understood who that pile of slashed flesh and pooling blood was.

He only grinned wider, and started saying something. I wasn't listening. I was staring at the man I fell in love with, not the Devil who took my life away piece-by-piece. I dropped to my knees, and made a daring dash to the corpse. He didn't try to stop me. He only said something else, and it was sickeningly smug. I ignored him the best I could, staring Seto Kaiba in the face. I held his face in my hands, and began to bawl like the child I truly was. And all I could think of was 'why?'

"Punishment, hikari."
