This is a oneshot requested by an anonymous reviewer, who called themselves Love-Lies-Bleeding. In truth, she requested many, and I'm sorry to say the Gaara/Hinata/Kankouro one was very hard to think up a plot for, and the one I emailed you about is still in writing. So, there will be one missing in the number count. Sorry.
I take any requests, as long as its not yrui, yaoi, or lemons. I live with my parents, like most thirteen-year-olds. I run the risk of getting caught, and then brutally injured.
I wasn't serious about the brutally injured part though. I would just getting banishment from my (beloved) computer.
So, please make requests, because these are fun to do :)
The meeting was going fairly well in Kankouro's opinion, but of course, there was always a hidden message in every single sentence. The Konoha Hokage, Tsunade-sama, was currently in a meeting with the Sand's Kazekage, his brother Gaara. Each Hokage was to bring two witnesses to the meeting, a rule set after the Orochimaru attack. Gaara had, of course, brought his siblings, Kankouro himself and their older sister Temari. The puppet user had been polite enough to not wear his usual face paint and hood, and instead wore clothing similar to what he had worn when he was much younger, when Gaara was still hated, which was simple Chuunin level clothing, with the vest and everything. He actually looked like a normal person…
Tsunade had brought that Nara Shikamaru and a girl he only knew by name, Hyuuga Hinata. He also knew she was with him and others at their first Chuunin Exam, and knew she had been rather weak. But to escalate to one of Tsunade's most trusted shinobi at such a tender age of fourteen he himself being just one year older, he knew she must have improved.
"So the arrangements have been set then?" asked Gaara as he leaned back in his desk. Tsunade nodded. She seemed to take in no account at all that their sister had run off with her best strategist, to do God-Knows-What, God-Knows-Where. The Hyuuga seemed a little fazed though, if not completely nervous. She must have been depending on Shikamaru's input in order to make her own input…
"Kankouro, what do you think?" asked Gaara, a taciturn face showing no emotion. Kankouro stared at the blueprints of the new building they would build right on the border between the Sand and Leaf, and the watch towers surrounding the two villages. Kankouro himself knew that these were to prevent attack from other villages, since these two were probably the biggest, and had the most country space.
"I think its fine. As long as the protection is there, we can be warned of danger, and we can prevent losses."
Gaara nodded, when Tsunade reached for hr cup, but then made a face. Hinata noticed this, as well as the Sand siblings, who both had raised an eyebrow, even though Gaara technically didn't have any eyebrows.
"Hinata-chan, would you mind getting me more sake?"
Hinata held her look of puzzlement of surprise for a few minutes, before slowly taking her cup and exiting the doors. And from a whim, the puppet user blurted out, "I'll help!"
He ignored how Gaara looked at him, as if saying 'What the hell are you doing?' and left after. Apparently she had heard him, for she was waiting outside the door. "You… didn't have to…" she muttered as the two shinobi moved down the hall toward what he guessed would be a refreshment room. He just shrugged as they continued walking. They reached a door in no time, and she quickly opened it, stepping inside, and pressed a switch to turn the lights on. The room was, in fact, what looked to be filled with bottles of sake. He wondered silently how much sake was actually in here, and how much disappeared everyday.
"She shouldn’t… be drinking sake, during a meeting." Hinata searched for a specific bottle, and was able to find the one she was looking for. Kankouro read the words, 'The Hard Stuff', and held back a burst of laughter.
"Especially… this… stuff…"
She started to pour the contents of the bottle into the small cup, but then hesitated, and put it back down.
"Something wrong?"
Hinata looked up, seemingly have forgotten he had been there. A small blush had tinged her milky cheeks.
"Oh, no… its just…"
She took the bottle and cup, not bothering to pour it. He held the door open for her, and she walked out with the bottle and cup in tow.
"I get it. She'd just ask for more."
The Hyuuga nodded as they left the hallway and went back to the room, and she filled the cup, then gave to Tsunade.
"Thank you, Hinata-chan."
She simply bowed and stood at attention again, while Kankouro did the same, trying to not look at anyone directly. He wouldn't dare look at Gaara, not wanting to receive mysterious glares from him, and he just didn't feel like looking at the two women in the room.
But the bottle seemed to empty in no time at all, and Tsunade asked for another bottle. Hinata, seemingly more flustered than ever, nodded and headed out, the puppet doing the same thing he did before. They got another bottle and came back, and after a short while had to do it again. Soon, the Leaf Hokage was hiccupping all over the place, and at the fifth bottle, when they had gone to get more, Hinata said there had been no more bottles left in the pantry, and they'd have to go up a few floors of the Hokage office, to the upstairs stash in the Hokage's own desk.
So they silently went up the stairs, and entered the office quietly. Kankouro watched as Hinata went straight to the desk and ducked under. He went around and saw that she was lifting the floorboards to a secret stash of "The Hard Stuff", and hastily getting it out.
"How'd you know it was down there?" Kankouro asked as Hinata searched for the cup. "Tsunade-sama always has a drink handy, and when she's drunk she says exactly where she gets it."
He raised an eyebrow, and out of pure curiosity, snatched the bottle from the girl's hands and chugged some down, which was a big mistake. After the first two swallows, he felt dizzy and tipsy, and he felt his legs turn to mush, and he no longer heard the protests of the Hyuuga girl. He walked toward her to ask what the heck she was saying, when he tripped and fell over… on top of her. Thankfully, he was able to use his arms to block his fall, and suddenly realized Hinata's face was a few inches from his.
"Kankouro-san… what… wrong…? Are… drunk… Kankouro-san!"
"Her mouth was moving. I was drunk." was his later excuse after the "incident". After attempting to kiss, and to his embarrassment, maybe possible rape her, she had head-butted him in the nose, and knocked him out. Dragging his body, as well as the bottle of sake, she had reported the incident to the Hokage, in which Gaara had supposedly slapped his own face in disgust and humiliation.
OOOO
"Oh… hello… Kankouro-san."
He stood at the door to her apartment, and rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. She wore a simple violet robe. She had bags under her eyes.
"I just wanted to apologize."
"For drinking Tsunade-sama's sake… and trying to… kiss me?"
"Yeah."
There was silence. He looked in a random direction, wondering what to do now.
"Well then, I guess I'll be seeing you."
He then disappeared in a puff of smoke. She stared at where he had just been standing, and wondered what he meant by 'be seeing you…'
