Um, yeah...so I finally found the JQ:TRA category...lol. This is very short and potentially badly written, but I did edit it from my other account, so I hope you like it! Thanks for reading :D
The terrace was dark, save for the sparkling band of light that was the river. Jonny Quest and Jessie Bannon stood leaning against the balcony, admiring the view. The night air held a soft scent of flowers, and a gentle breeze rose from the gardens below.

“Wow,” breathed Jessie, shifting position so that she could get a better view of the gigantic moon as it rose orange-yellow just above the bay. She was resplendent in a dark blue shimmering dress that made her appear at least three years older than she really was. With her hair piled softly on her head, she looked absolutely gorgeous.

“Yeah,” agreed Jonny, who looked equally good in his tuxedo but was actually extremely uncomfortable. He kept pulling at the collar. Evidently Jessie was, too, for she yanked out her hairpins and shook down her long deep-red tresses, letting them flow around her face in the breeze. She sighed with relief. “Much better. I felt like I was in a balancing act with that stack of hair. You know, one of those tightrope walkers.”

Jonny snorted and finally managed to pry his tie off, stuffing it in his pocket. “Yeah, I'm not such a tux person myself. Poor Hadji. I wish Dad had let him wear his turban; he looks incredibly uncomfortable being the only guy here with a ponytail.”

Jessie grinned. “Oh well. He looked fine. He's just nervous because of all these important people...psh. He's a sultan. He's higher up than anyone here except our host. I swear, Hadji lies about that supposed serenity of his that he has all the time.”

Her companion smirked at the remark, and she turned back to the breathtaking view and sighed. More to herself than to Jonny, she remarked, “I should have brought Jan up here.”

Jonny glanced at her, the hint of a frown in his eyes. “Jan?”

Jessie looked up. “Wha-? Oh, sorry. My date. Didn’t I introduce him?”

“No,” Jonny replied curtly.

She looked sharply at him. “What?”

He shook his head and shrugged. “Nothing.” He turned back to the view, then, without looking in her direction, said, “What date? I thought you came solo.”

Jessie smiled. “Well, I met him two days ago down in the river park. He’s…” she gestured uncertainly. “He’s, well, tall, dark, and…”

“Handsome?”

She nodded. “Very.” She had a dreamy look in her eyes. Jonny frowned.

“So that’s where you’ve been the last two days. Down at the river park.” Jonny leaned against the railing, his arms crossed.

Jessie frowned at him. “Well, no, actually, we went to a movie and lunch and..” She broke off. Jonny was staring at her. “What? It’s like you and Irena. We have fun together.” Saying this, she turned pink.

Jonny looked suspicious. “Jess, that doesn’t sound like me and Irena. We just hang out. But you and…and Jan…”

Jessie’s blush deepened, and she lowered her eyes. “So? What does it matter, Jonny?”

She was surprised when, turning away and gripping the railing, he said in a low voice, “It matters a lot!”

She touched his arm. “So,” she said hotly, “I’m not allowed to like anyone, but you are?”

“No, that’s not what I meant…” He looked at a loss for words.

“Well, it sure sounds like it!” Jessie turned away, but Jonny caught her arm. “Wait, Jess! Where are you going?”

“To find Jan,” she replied, emerald eyes blazing.

“Don’t, Jessie.”

Jessie turned back to him and crossed her arms. “Why does it matter to you, Jonny? You have Miss Sonata Player Irena!”

“Irena’s my friend!” he protested. He gave her a look that said plainly, had she been paying attention, “But you…

“Jonny,” she continued, “listen to me. Be fair, okay? You have Irena, I have Jan, we’re both happy…”

In one motion, he stepped closer, grabbed her shoulders and pulled her to him, and set his mouth against hers. Jessie stiffened in shock, but a moment later put her arms around him and let herself melt into his embrace.

When Jonny finally released her, he looked down into her eyes and said softly, “Maybe you are.” He smiled and walked away.

Please review! P.S. I know it's "Jonny", not "Johnny" (which I prefer), but I may have accidentally left a "Johnny" or two in there, since I redid this and replaced all of them with the correct spelling...ah well. Sue me. lol. Thanks again for reading; I hope you enjoyed it.
