It couldn't actually be any worse than almost dying from the plague. But it still scared the crap out of him.

He took a deep breath to steady his nerves. Tried to, anyway.

"Hey, Dad. Gibbs told me that he called you, but… No, he wasn't yanking your chain. I really did have the plague."

"Yes, I am serious. The actual pneumonic plague. I almost died, Dad."

"You don't believe me? Here. Talk to my doctor."
