You'll all going to kill me if you've read any of my stories before. I'm sorry I haven't updated, but I lost interest for the moment and I'm on an FMA kick. I'll never be able to write anything else till I write this out or at least start it. Also I don't know a good little village around the area I can use or know anything/ remember any town names really so yeah.
Disclaimer: I don't own FMA

Warnings: I don't have spell check, my grammar sucks and this story takes place after the movie. It's also EdxWin. If you don't like it don't read.

Chapter 1 Military Time!

Winry smiled as she got onto the train with Sheska. They where going to a little village not to far outside of central to visit an alchemist, who like Ed had an automail leg. He had some troubles with it as of late and could not walk very well because of it. In the end she and Sheska wound up paying a house call to the alchemist. She had joined the military not to long go, about maybe a year or so after Ed and Al left beyond the gate. She didn't have money at the time because of Pinako's medical bills. Pinkao had had a stroke not to long ago, it had ended up sending her into acoma, and the business at home just didn't cover it. So she ended up going to the military to pay the bills after the suggestion that she join it after calling up Sheska.

She really didn't mind it much, on the contrary she liked it alot. She got her own work room, got to develop new ideas while talking to the other automail mechanics in the area, she got to work with as much metal as her heart desired, and it paid well. Leaning against the window of her seat she watched as the outside flew by her. Hearing a sigh next to her Winry turned her gaze over to Sheska.
"What's worng Sheska?" Winry asked seeing the slight frown on her face.
"Oh nothing, nothing. I was just thinking Winry, why would they send both of us if it's just the man's automail that needs to be fixed? Why did they even bother to send us? I mean, it's not like he can't get someone closer to do the job. Right?" Sheska asked.
"Well I know they sent me because the man request that he have 'Rockbell Automail', and you because well, I don't really know why." Winry answered as she trailed off abit to collect her thoughts. 'Why did they send her again?Oh yeah that's right!' "Sheska, they sent you because you had said you wanted to see the man's library sometime. You said something about him having a certain book that you wanted to read or something?" Sheska looked pensive for a moment before nodding her head.

"Yeah I remember now, I don't know how I could have forgotten." She smiled and sat back on her chair. "Well I think I'll take a nap Winry. We still have about two hours till we get there"
Winry nodded to herself and turned back to her window watching. She had nothing else to do at the moment, she was just bored. 'How did Ed and Al ever deal with all the train rides?' She thought, before shaking her head. 'There I go again thinking about them, it's been over a year, they're not coming back this time.' No matter how much she wanted to believe otherwise she told herself repeatedly that Ed and Al wheren't coming back. Espeically not Ed, why would he? He had his brother, just as before, why would he come back just for her? He never did that when he was in Ametris, he only came back when his automail was broken and she needed to fix it. Why would it ever be any different?

Unknown, or rather unnoticed by Winry a single tear fell. She had had the same conversation with herself many times over. What would Ed say about her in the military? Would he care? All the time her thoughts lead to Ed if she wasn't kept busy, left alone to think over and reflect her past.Whiping her face, her eyes, rather she noticed the tear. The small little drop of sailteen water almost made her burst into another bout of sobs and the alike. Before she broke out into laughs, bitter, hollow ones. "It's funny isn't it? I can't even go a mintue without thinking of them, of him. I'm stronger then this. I know I am." She whispered out before leaning back herself and drifting off

Winry and Sheska stood outside the rather large house of the alchemist. Winry held her bag, and the paper with the address on it. As knocking on the door repeatedly turned out to be futile, it became apparent that no one was home. "Winry, let's just go to an Inn for the night? It's getting late and we've been trying for fiffteen minutes. It's obivous he's not home." Winry nodded and sighed as she turned and followed Sheska as they made their way back though town. Just as they rounded the corner though Winry was sent flying backwards as someone speed by, not even stopping to say one simply 'sorry'. Sitting up and rubbing her head Winry let out a string of curses. She turned to look back only to see a man, or at least what she thought was a man, continue to run down the road his cloak trailing behind him. "Winry! Are you okay?" Sheska asked worry evident in her eyes as she helped her friend up.
"Yeah, I just hit my head. Who the hell runs into someone and doesn't even bother to stop and ask if they're okay? What an ass!" She glared as she looked back.

"I don't know, but at least your okay, to some extent." Sheska bent down to help Winry pick up her bag and other things that slipped out of it. As she did so she found something that ws difenitatly not Winry's. "Uh Winry? You don't happen to have a state alchemist watch do you?"

"No, why would I have one I don't do alchemy. Why do you ask?" Winry asked, to caught up in picking up her things to look at Sheska.
"Because I just found one, on the ground next to your stuff." Sheska explained holding up the sliver watch by the chain.
Winry let out a small gasp, before she grabbed it. "The guy who bumped into me probably dropped it. Maybe he's a state alchemist, or maybe he stole it from one." Winry stuffed it into her pocket before standing up and heaving her bag up onto her shoulders. "Either way it's late, let's go find that inn hm?"

Winry and Sheska tried the alchemist's house once again in the morning and where greeted this time by the Berry Kix, The Grain alchemist. He was in a wheelchair, since his automail leg wasn't working. Sheska got to read the book she had been looking for, on Berry's theory of using alchemy on crops. Winry got to work on the automail, as it turned out it was a simple probelm with the leg and took only mintues before the probelm was fixed.
By the time all of that was said and done it was well past dark and time for dinner then bed. Winry, being the first one to bed after the meal headed up to the gust room. Berry had insisted that the girls spend at least one night, rather then spend another at the hotel, so Winry had no qualms about it was she plopped onto the bed. No sooner did she though was she asleep and dreaming.

Winry awoke that night with a start, the sounds of bangingand a scream echoed through out the house. Winry rushed out of her room towards the sounds, they where coming from Sheska's room. Picking up speed Winry threw the door open with a bang.
"Sheska!" There in the arms of a black cloaked man she was, knocked unconious and limp. Winry's face paled, she was unarmed. Before anything else could happen though Winry felt a pain in the back of her neck. The next thing she knew was she was falling to the floor, and fast. Black clouded her vision, but she felt more and saw herself being caught and lifted by someone. Her last thoughts before she blacked out entirerly rang in her mind. 'No'

Winry woke with a groan. Her head, neck, everything was swore as she tired to gain her bearings. As she tired to move her hands she found that they where tied, as where her feet. Blinking to clear the blurriness around her vision she found that she was in some kind of a wear house or factory. It was abadoned the poor condition of it confermed that. Bits of broken glass where everywhere, dirt and garbge littered the floor, and the smell of mold wafted about.
"So yer wake?" Winry turned her head to the side and looked up. There stood the man that had had Sheska, he no longer doned the black cloak, and his appearce could be seen. He was of medium height, his hair was in an unruly mess and stood up on all sides was a dark brown color. His eyes where small and black, looking at her with a hard glare. He wasn't as muscular was she first thought, it turned out he was just he was abit over weight and the cloak had did a good job of hiding that. "Okay now listen girly. I'm going to tell ya this once an' only once. I've got yer friend in the back room with mai friend. If ya not gonna do precisely was I says then mai friend is gonna put some nice bullets into yer friend's chest. Understood?" He asked in a gruff voice.
Winry bit her lip, what could she do? What did this guy want? She had to bite her tounge to hold out from yelling at the man. "Yes." she ground between her teeth.
"Good girl, now I'm gonna untie yer feet, don't make a single atempt to run away alright? Remember yer friend." He made a gun out of his hand and pretended to shot it off. Winry nodded all the while thinking of ways to get out of this. The man did as he said and cut her feet from the rope.Lifting her up by her arms he lead her out of the room and into another. Winry gasped at what she saw. A woman's boy lay in the center of a large transmutation circle and beside it was a large mountain of different minerals and the alike. "Alright here's the thing. This be my wife. She died not to long ago from an illness. I want her back, but I can't do alchemy. I need ya do to it, transmute my wife back for me that is. I found yer state alchemist watch inside yer room, soes in exchange for my wife I'll let ya and yer friend go." He said as he pushed Winry towards the circle. "I copied the circle outta a book from Berry's library, dunno what he was planning on usin it fer, but I dun care either. It says I needa strong alchemist and yer a state alchemist soes that must be pertty strong." He finshed as he crossed his arms.
"But I-I'm not a-" Winry began before she was cut off by the man.
"I don't care! Just do it or else I'll kill ya and yer friend both!" He yelled as Winry cringed. How was she going to pull this off? She wasn't an alchemist, but if she didn't do it right this man was going to kill her and Sheska. Winry nodded to the man shakily. 'Let's see now, um I guess I could just copy Ed and pray that something happens.' Nodding to herself Winry did as she had seen Ed or Al do when they did alchemy; she clapped her hands and placed then on the circle. 'Please work!' Was her thoughts before a bright light filled the room and as the transmutation circle was activated. Winry clenched her eyes closed as she felt a rush of power before she was once again knocked out of conciousness.

What Winry was aware of first was the strange feeling that hundereds of arms where pulling her this way and that. Opening her eyes she was greeted with hundereds of black hands grabbing at her all over, her arms, waist, legs, evereywhere. She opened her mouth to scream when open hand shot out and wrapped it's self around her mouth .

This is the gate of Equalavant Exchange, what do you want and what will you trade for it?
'The gate?' Her eyes widened 'No, no, Ed destroyed it! It's impossible'
The alchemist who's name was Elric? Edward? No that's impossible for a simple human to do, least he destroy all of alchemy. He can not destroy us no mere alchemist can do such a feat.
Winry's eyes widened even more if that was even possible, it was talking to her? It knew Ed?

Yes we know, we know all. Now tell us what is your desire, and what will you trade for it?
'My desire? What? What do you mean'
All that come to this gate have a desire, and all that come to this gate trade something for it.
'I don't have one, I never meant to come here anyways. I was just doing what the man said, otherwise he was going to kill Sheska and I'
Oh really now you must have some desire, tell us.
'But I don't'
Tell us.
Tell us .
Tell us.

Hundereds of voices echoed out in Winry's mind all repeating the same thing Tell us. Closing her eyes, Winry felt a pain in her head making her snap her eyes open.
Ah yes, we know now. The Alchemist, you want to see him.
Yes.
Yes, thats it. Now to trade what will you trade to see him? An arm? A leg or two? Hmm?

'I don't want to lose an arm or a leg. I-I'
Hmmm no leg? No arm? Well then let's see... how about your memories?
'What? My memories? How can I trade that'
Yes.
Yes.
Yes! Her memories take them, thats a an equal trade to see her beloved Alchemist again.
So now then, girl We shall take your memories of your past and take you to your alchemist.

'You can do that?'

But of corse, of corse. Though it can only be for a limited amount of time...

Yes, small amount..

Very small...

You have two weeks...

Yes, two weeks for him to return your feelings, to annouce it, otherwise you shall return here...

'How can I do that if I forget?'

Oh don't worry, it shall be two weeks after you meet him, if you two are meant to be...

Yes meant to be...

Winry screamed as she was yanked suddenly into the darkness of the gate, the doors slamming shut behind her as giggling of hundereds echoed around her.
'Ed.' Was her last thought before the searing pain entered her head again this time far worse then the last before her entire mind went numb.
