Celinn's Ring

This world we live in is just full of corruption. I've agreed that it is only too true that danger lurks at every known corner. Yet, what has been hidden away in the shadows of time allowes some to bend the rules. I've been told the known isn't the real danger, it's the secrets kept too long to get out that can become the poisoning plague of a life either side can lead.

“Celinn? Celinn where are you!” called what I assumed was a member of the Cenarion Circle. The voice was rough and smooth, but irritated. Why couldn‘t I just disappear? It‘s earn me a few moments of peace and quiet.

I sat on my bed of Rich silken sheets leaving who ever was calling me to come find me. Outside my window life of the city buzzed. I loved to watch them rush around. I found it decently amusing when a group of people rushed back and forth from the mailbox and the Auction House. I opened my window slightly to let in a fresh crisp breeze. It was nearing winter, it wouldn’t get much colder in Teldrassil, but still, you could feel the chill in the air. I brushed my long blue hair aside and listened to the footsteps coming up the ramps to my room.

“Celinn! Come now don’t tell me you forgot about today!” As the voice got closer to my room I noticed is was of Delgon. Not a member of the Cenarion but of the hunters. He was a good friend of mine and I usually recognize his voice but today I was distracted. He comes around often to see me but today I had completely forgotten his reasons. I instantly jumped from my bed and threw on my Training armor. The splash of dark colors always made me feel stronger and empowered. Each curve of the leather had a certain strength I wouldn’t know exactly how to describe. I ran down the ramps of the dorms and saw an impatient Delgon waiting for me. He smiled and handed me a brightly wrapped weapon. “What’s this?“ I asked curiously. Delgon never fails to surprise me. His short turquoise hair spiked back as usually does and his brown leather armor made no attempt in hiding his bulging muscles. His favorite bow was slung over his right shoulder and Shasha his faithful pet Tiger was waiting at the door for us. She yawn and stretched exploiting her black strips on her white body.

“Just something to help you progress.” Delgon added as I was pulling off the paper. Before me I held a magnificent spear. With a purple handle and a thin blade I couldn’t help but laugh with excitement. “Oh it’s beautiful. Thank you Delgon.” I marveled at the spear. “I’m glad you like it, now lets put it to good use.” Delgon said grabbing my hand.

Delgon and I ran down to the warriors terrace. The weapon master scowled as Delgon and I appeared at her class at the last moment. Her silver chest plate held the insignia of the Alliance as so did her Shield. “Good enough.” she said with some disgust referring to how Delgon and I were prepared. “lets begin.” she announced.

I looked around to see who had showed up for today’s lesson. Two gnomes were behind me training in one handed swords. A Dwarf was practicing his crossbow with the bow merchant and Delgon was getting more practice with his axes. I was there to use my new Polearm.

I stood straight as I could (might not have been straight enough) with the spear in my hands. I felt ready to strike anything in my path, even though in the back of my mind was screaming at me to wait for I barely knew how to use the weapon.

“Celinn, if you’re here to use a new type of weapon then you should know how to wield it.” The weapons master made three swift motions with her spear and I was to copy. The first swing was an easy leftwardly swipe. Next she performed a tricky swing where she held the blade behind her back. Holding the bottom of the spear out in front and holding the blade in back I was to take a step back then forward as in with stepping forward pivot in a leftward motion. I dropped my weapon as I attempted the swing. “Stand straighter Celinn. If you hold your weapon like this (she made a stance) then you wouldn’t have dropped it. Holding it tighter and shifting your elbows as you swing the top of the spear with help you kept a hold on it.” The weapons master said. I did as she said and performed the swing much easier. For the next two hours I practiced on a target dummy.

When the lesson ended I had mastered five different styles of attacking opponents. I was given a few tips on which type of enemy I should attack with what then Delgon and me left.

Delgon walked me back to my Dormitory. Some of the girls had gathered in a mediation circle. The circle was immediately broken when Delgon stepped inside our humble home. “Oh Delgon, Hi!” most of them said in unison. Delgon smiled warmly at them then continued through the house with me. Everyone in the circle kept their eyes on Delgon until he was out of their sight. Partially, I don’t blame them. I’m the only one who’s really friends with one like Delgon. We’re kept in our dorms so much that we never meet one’s of our opposite.

I was lucky enough to meet Delgon when I had snuck out of the Dorms once. I was a bit younger and still wasn’t as free as I am now to roam the city. I had made it far from the Cenarion circle when Delgon noticed me walking along. He was brave enough to approach me asking what I was doing out of the Dorms. He was very nice and we got to know each other a bit more that night.

I checked my room and was pleased to see Starbloom, my roommate and best friend, wasn’t back yet from where she had gone off to. I sat down on my bed and Delgon pulled up a chair. “I almost feel sorry for your friends.” he said without any particular tone. “Feel sorry for them?” I said surprised.

“They’re kept from the real world. Like children in an Orphanage. If your really going to learn how to be a powerful Druid then why not explore and learn your talents and powers as you go along. I didn’t learn to bless arrows with magic by staying in a room all day.” now you could tell his sorrows for all for us, it was quite touching.

“I agree but I doubt there‘s anything we can do, more or less anything that we‘d want to do.” Delgon looked up from staring at the floor. “Why give up hope on it? I bet I could convince him to let the Druids a good bit more freedom!” he said with a smirk.

“Don’t be foolish Delgon, the ArchDruid has a quick temper, he wouldn’t hesitate to banish you from the city if you challenged him. He’s not a man to be bothered with.” I said frowning and getting worried.

“I’m not afraid of him, he’s been hiding things from everyone. All he cares about is getting our immortality back. If he had half a sense he’d give up on it and get back to his students.”

“Delgon, I’m serious don’t go to the ArchDruid, you’ll do something you’ll regret.”

“Celinn, wouldn’t you give anything to find out who or where your family is? don’t you think it was wrong to have you taken from them?”

That hurt. He knew it but he didn’t mean it to hurt me. I was very sensitive about practically being an Orphan.

“I didn’t mean it that way Celinn. I’m trying to say that the ArchDruid can’t kept running the Cenarion’s like he has.”

Then before I could call back with an argument Delgon was out the door with Shasha on his trail. I instantly got up and ran after him. The girl’s who had forgotten their meditation circle watch in astonishment as I rushed down the ramps in pursuit of Delgon. “Delgon No! Don’t do it!” I shouted filled with anger.

Rash, was all I could call it. Give him few thoughts and BAM! He going to go knocking at the Arch Druid’s door looking for an argument. I tried to talk him out of it but I guess there’s no arguing with him. But half of me didn't want to stop him...

Delgon was at the ArchDruid’s house within seconds. Shasha waited at the door, she wouldn’t let me pass in suscees of stopping me from stopping Delgon. “Shasha move!” I yelled at her, this made he growl. I stepped back and tried to view the top of the balcony. Delgon stormed into the house and I heard him stomp up the ramps to the very top where the ArchDruid, I knew, was working furiously praying not to be disrupted. Delgon appear from the house still following up the ramp to the ArchDruid. He gave me a hopeful look then disappeared into the room. When I heard the stomps stop the voices began. First it was more of a mere angry talk then they swiftly grew into shouts. “He’s going to get himself killed…..or worse…” fear grew in my heart but I couldn’t stop Delgon now it was too late. I grew more worried when smoke began to leak from the room.

When the shouts stopped I saw Delgon appear at the entrance of the room he was a bit shaken up but defiantly confident. I smiled at him and then before I knew it roots entangled my feet and Delgon was thrown from the balcony.

I fell backwards and pain shot through my legs. Delgon landed hard on the ground and on his back. “Delgon! Are you alright!” I cried out. He didn’t move until a moment later. I was relieved but still scared out of my mind. The ArchDruid appeared he was so angry his scowl could scare a wisp.

“My business is none of yours! Leave this city and don’t ever return you scoundrel!” he shouted his anger increasing.

Delgon was really hurt I could see blood on the grass where Delgon lay silently but moving ever so slightly.

“And you!” he said pointing to me as I tried to get up from were I lay rooted to the ground. “I would’ve expected more from one of my students. You are never to see this hunter again! If you weren’t so important to the Cenarion’s you would be joining his fate!” He disappeared back into his room. A moment later the roots let go of me. I ran over to Delgon.

He opened his eyes trying to hide his pain. “Maybe that was a bad idea.” he said smiling sheepishly. “Delgon you fool. Why would you challenge the ArchDruid? You should‘ve listened to me.” I nagged.

“I thought someone should stand up for something like that.” he was trying desperately to sound undefeated. “Roll over.” I said.

“What?”

“Roll over so I can see what he did.”

“No, I’m fine lets get out of here before anyone sees us.” He sat up grunting a little. I felt really bad because he was trying so hard.

Once he managed to sit up I pushed him over. “Celinn!”

“Quiet you.” I said. I had just learned my healing spells last week but it’ll have to do. I don‘t know what had happened but Delgon was bleeding from the back blood stained the grass under him. I examined it and knew exactly what the ArchDruid had done.

His Wrath spell is much more powerful than mine. The wound wasn’t deep but was widely spread. I was taught what to do in these situations. I concentrated and with great relief I had Delgon’s wound healed. And Starbloom said I needed practice, HA!

Delgon sat back up. “You didn’t need to do that, but thanks.” “Your welcome.” I said smiling. We got up and began to walk to the hunter’s part of the city. Delgon was feeling real bad about what happened.

“Don’t feel embarrassed. The ArchDruid is a powerful being. He pulled a cheap shot on you. You weren’t even ready for it there was no chance you could have saw it coming.” I said rubbing his shoulder comfortably.

“It’s not that. Do you think he meant what he said?” Delgon asked stopping to face me.

“About you leaving the city? No, he can’t just throw you out just because of that…..could he?”

“I don’t know.”

That started a new fear in my heart. Could the ArchDruid really banish Delgon just for that? I hope not, that would mean he did it for me……oh no.

We decided to get some to eat at the Inn we went to we first met. “I should tell you what I said to him.” Delgon said returning from the bar with two drinks and a small plate of bread. He handed me the glass he had as he sipping on a mug of dwarven mead.

I nodded to Delgon. “Well, I started with asking him what he was doing. When I walked in he was mixing a vial of pink liquid with one of black. Dark purple smoke came up from the mixture. When I was noticed The ArchDruid flew into rage yelling at me to be on my way. I wouldn’t leave though. I shouted back at him to tell me why he took his students from their families. He told me it was none of me to know but I still didn’t leave. I persisted and finally he gave in so I would leave. He told me he had only done it once because it was extremely important that he did. I told him that under no circumstances would Darassus allow him to do that but he answered by throwing his new potion at my feet. Instantly smoke surrounded me so then I left. After that you can tell what happened."

“I’m sorry he did that to you. But at least you got something out of it.”

“Yeah a swift blow to the-”

“No. not that. We know for sure that it may just be me who was taken away at birth.”

“Oh, yeah I guess I did get that much out of him. But, anyway,I also got this.”

I looked up. “What?”

He handed me an envelope. It was worn and water stained. But had my name on it in blood red letter. “When I first walked in the room I saw it on one of his small tables. When he threw the potion it gave enough cover up to allow me to grab it. That’s really why I left."

“What is it?”

“Open it up.”

Using my nail I easily and neatly torn open the top the envelope revealed a ring. The band was as black as death with a blue crystal skull on top. “Oh my, it’s hideous. Why would I inherit this?” Delgon stared blankly at it.

“I couldn’t tell you. I hope this can give us a clue to something.” he said with hope. “What kind of clue is a death ring?”

“You don’t know it’s a death ring.”

“it sure reminds me of death.”

I put the ring on and it was a perfect fit. “That’s odd. It looked a bit big before.”

Then shockingly it tightened around my finger. I freaked and tried to pull it off. “What is this ring!” I cried out trying desperately to get it off my finger. My finger turned red with irritation. “Celinn stop your going to break your finger!” Delgon said trying calming me. A few people had stopped to stare then returned to their business when I settled down. “Calm down. It won’t kill you to wear it.” Delgon said. The ring didn’t tighten enough to hurt my finger but just enough so I couldn’t get it off. I was still a little freaked out but there was nothing I could do about it. I was immediately beginning to feel regretful and stupid for ever putting the ring on. Delgonfrowned seeing this, but i didn't care,it’s my own stupid fault I’m stuck with this hideous ring on my finger.

I had fruit for dinner while Delgon had a very rare and expensive Roasted Kodo meat. He must have a taste for it because he’s willing to pay for this foreign food. He’s learned not to offer getting any of the meat dishes for me or any other Druid in the factor. We’re all vegetarians. We’ve learned the ways of the bear, cat, cheetah and sea lion you would imagine we wouldn’t want to eat the meats of the hunted wild.

Afterwards we headed back to the Druid Dorms. With thoughts in my head I stared at the ground as we walked. “Tomorrow we’ll ask the Priest’s in the Temple of the Moon if they know anything about that ring.” Delgon said as we walked. I was so distracted I didn’t catch it all so I asked him to repeat himself. “I’m stilling wondering if the ArchDruid did really, you know, banish you. i mean, i did say he wouldn't hesistate do do something like that, but it’d be so terrible if he did. I don’t know what I would do, you’d be banish because of me and it’d be all my fault.” I blurted racked with guilt. Delgon stopped.

“Don’t feel so guilty if I am. I’ll be alright. I can always go to IronForge until the ArchDruid loosens up. The Hunter’s in IronForge will welcome me warmly if I go to see them.” I smiled. “everything would be fine…(he paused)….except, I wouldn’t see you again.” myreassurancedied a rapid little death. “What?” I gasped in mixed emotion. “I wouldn’t see you again if I did have to leave….but good thing I don’t eh?” he was just trying to cheer me up and douse the fear but I could only stand there staring like it’d be the last time I saw him.

When the Cenarion circle came in sight Delgon stopped me again. "Don't worry about me, i'll be fine i promise. Goodnight Celinn." he said then walked off. Something wasn't right. Tomorrow would tell me for sure if my worries were worth the sleepless night.

AN-I hope this was long enough...
