Author's note: okay, I've put it off for long enough. Time to update this sucker with chapter 20!

"So some of the worlds are still open?" Banjo asked.

"Yup," Kazooie replied. "Brentilda said we can still reach mumbo's mountain," you could hear Mumbo cheering in the background, "Bubblegloop swamp, Freezeezy peak, and Click clock woods, as well as the top of the tower, are still open."

"Then what we waiting for?" Mumbo asked, running for the mountain. Lanky grabbed him before he could get away.

"Not so fast Skullbrain," Kazooie said. "We still have work to do, and that includes you."

Mumbo turned around and smiled sheepishly. "Mumbo sorry, just excited home still open," He explained. "Had all tokens and spellbooks inside when tower collapsed."

"As you should be Skullbrain!" an evil voice cackled. Everyone turned and gasped.

"Gruntilda!" Banjo said. Kazooie jumped into his backpack and everyone got into a battle stance.

"I've come to give you all some sound advice," Grunty cackled. "Stop foiling our plans or we'll fight back!"

"So what!" Mumbo shouted. "We defeat you before, and we do it again!"

"Ah, but you didn't think I would come alone, would you?" Grunty said, she waved her hands and portals appeared on the ground that began to spit out tons of gruntlings.

"Puh-lease bonebag," Kazooie said. "We've beaten these things before. Don't tell us this is all you have?"

"Oh no, this is only the beginning!" And with a cackle Grunty shot a spell at the gruntlings. They flashed for a few seconds, and then transformed.

Fangs grew sharper and longer, arms got bigger and more muscled, and eyes became red as the nightmarish Gruntlings appeared from the spells power.

"Kazooie?" Banjo said.

"Yeah banjo?"

"Why couldn't you have kept your beak shut?"

Up in the tower chunky was busy punching a hole in the wall next to the entrance to Mumbo's mountain where they were planning on putting the Golden Banana's and medals, Completely oblivious to the battle raging outside.

Suddenly, Diddy came rushing into the room.

"Chunky!" He shouted. Chunky turned and noticed the monkey, and that his hands were all red from punching the wall.

"There's a huge fight going on outside, and we're losing!" Diddy shouted. Chunky immediately ran past him, and Diddy quickly followed.

Everyone had been fighting as hard as they could, but were slowly being overpowered by the thousands of nightmare gruntlings.

Banjo was flung to the ground by a punch from one, and it towered over him, ready to finish the bear off. He closed his eyes, waiting for the attack.

When it didn't come, he opened his eyes to see B.m Jr in front of him, using his sword to hold back the fist.

"You might want to move Banjo!" B.m Jr suggested. "I can't hold this thing off for much longer."

As soon as he said that, the gruntling smashed him away with his other fist, sending him flying back into a stampede of nightmare gruntlings.

Banjo watched the kid go flying, and then he snapped. He ran at the gruntling and started punching and scratching it, until it fell.

Kazooie saw the whole thing from the air, where she was busy fighting of nightmare gruntydactyls and supporting the others. She couldn't see where B.m Jr stopped, but she could see that only D.K, Banjo, Funky, and Lanky were still effectively holding off the rabid attack. But they were starting to lose ground fast, and they probably wouldn't be able to hold off for much longer unless Diddy and Chunky got back soon.

Luckily, they appeared on the top of the mountain mere moments later. But she didn't expect what would happen next.

Chunky was met with a horrific sight as they stopped on the edge of the mountain.

Millions of huge Gruntlings were attacking Spiral Mountain, and everyone was losing badly.

Diddy could still see Kazooie in the sky, but he lost sight of her as she dived into a pack of Gruntydactyls. Suddenly she fell out of the sky in a free-fall, making lazy circles through the air as she fell.

Banjo also noticed as he took down another gruntling, and started to plough his way through the carnage in a mad attempt at saving her. He managed to catch her in his backpack, but was suddenly punched hard by a gruntling that snuck up behind him. His vision went blurry and he passed out.

Chunky lost it right there. He forgot all of his fears and went into primal mode. He jumped into the fray and killed a few with a super duper simian slam, then began to punch and smash every one nearby him. If one tried to jump on his back, he would grab it and toss it at several others, mowing them down as he fought to get to his fallen friends.

By the time he did reach them, he could feel the fatigue setting in. now even he was slowly falling to the onslaught of gruntlings, and he couldn't seem to muster enough strength to fight them off anymore as he passed out at last.

Diddy and Lanky were the only ones left, but it looked like it was all over now. Diddy feared for the worst when suddenly, an unexpected ally appeared.

11 powerful blasts of different colours came flying from nowhere and annihilated any Gruntlings that were caught in the blast.

Diddy looked for the origin of the blasts, and saw 11 differently coloured groups. Right in the center was king Jingling, standing tall against the seemingly endless supply of Gruntlings.

King Jingling pointed to where everyone was laying, and the surrounding Jinjo families nodded and began to make their way to the fallen heroes. King Jingling made his way to Banjo and Kazooie, taking out many Gruntlings at a time.

Once all of the heroes were found, the jinjo's moved them up to the mountaintop, away from the danger.

Diddy watched as the jinjo's began to form a circle around King jingling. Suddenly, a huge, multicoloured explosion appeared from nowhere. All of the Gruntlings were destroyed, and no more were appearing to replace them.

"How dare you do that to my minions!" Grunty shouted. "I'll be back, and next time you losers won't be so lucky!" She flew away cackling.

Everyone was now in Jinjo village, away from the mountain for the time being until they recovered.

Diddy looked at his friends. Almost everyone had been badly wounded in the battle. Banjo and B.m Jr both sustained a broken jaw from getting punched, and Kazooie was burnt badly by something. Chunky had to be in the worst shape though. King jingling informed the Kong that Chunky had taken heavy injuries to his spine, legs, and one arm, so he would be out for a while.

"How long until everyone will be up again?" Diddy asked King jingling. He shook his head sullenly.

"It all depends on how effective and quickly the jinjo's heal them, I'm afraid," King jingling stated.

Diddy looked at his friends with a scowl. It was then that he decided.

"I swear I'll get revenge on Grunty for what she did to my friends. I swear it!" Diddy said quietly.

Yes everyone, I'm ending the series like this. But next season will be much better.

Thanks to everyone whose supported me throughout this fiction. I really appreciate it and hope you all enjoyed it. I know it might not have been the best fiction, but I'm really proud for the progress I made with this one.

I hope everyone reads the sequel, and enjoyed this chapter.
