Author’s Notes: okay so I have gotten a few reviews that informed me that I was being too harsh on Ginny which caused Harry to look bad. Now I don’t give a shit how Ginny looks but I do care about Harry so I’ve gone back and fixed it. I hope you enjoy the edited version.

Summary: HHr One shot. GINNY BASHER! Everything in Harry Potter’s world revolved around Hermione Granger. And it was official in Ginny Weasley’s mind. Hermione Granger was the root of all evil. Changed and reposted!

Disclaimer: I own nothing but the stinky plot.

“We are over! Did you hear me? Over!”

“Fine. I’m leaving then.”

“Harry, don’t you walk out of here. Don’t you dare go to her house!”

Bam! Ginny Weasley threw a mug at the door that was just slammed in her face by her boyfriend, Harry Potter. They had gotten into another argument. This happened every time they did anything together. She did admit that she started most of the arguments but only with good reason.

The real breakup was coming, and perhaps it was long over due. Their relationship had been on the rocks for a little over a year, but Ginny was holding onto Harry for dear life. The funny thing was neither one of them had done anything wrong. They didn’t live together but it seemed better that way since Harry wasn’t interested in sex… at least not with her. He had decided to wait till marriage, after he found out Hermione was waiting till marriage. But their living situation wasn’t the problem, Ginny saw Harry all the time. And they didn’t really have any trust issues… Okay, so maybe she had cheated on him once or twice but he had forgiven her for that. And as far as she knew he had never cheated on her. Well, in a sense he kind of had.

He spent more time with his best friend then he did with her. Their time spent together aside, Harry spent a lot more time with her than he did with Ginny. All he ever talked about was Hermione Granger. The only person he ever told anything important to was Hermione Granger. The only person he let out his emotions to was Hermione Granger. The first person he went to when something was wrong was Hermione Granger. When he was injured during Auror training he went straight to Hermione Granger. Everything in Harry Potter’s world revolved around Hermione Granger.

Ginny had only partly understood this when she started dating Harry again after the final battle two years ago. She accepted most of their rituals as habit, like hugging and giving each other kisses on the cheek. After all, Hermione had saved Harry’s life at the end of the battle, as well as other times in their history as friends, and it was only logical that they would have a very tight bond. But there was one ritual that she told Harry he absolutely could not do anymore; spend the night on Hermione Granger’s plush olive green couch. But he never listened to her and had never stopped spending the night at Hermione's house.

He used to do this all the time. Apparently they had gotten accustomed to close living quarters during their horcrux hunts and their year sharing a common room as Heads. Ginny knew that whenever Harry had nightmares about his past he would go straight to Hermione’s house and spend the night. Even now, if he had a particularly nasty dream, he would go and wake Hermione up and they would sit together on the couch until he fell back to sleep. And when Hermione wasn’t home due to working the night shift at St. Mungo’s, Harry would stay in Hermione’s bed because, apparently, Hermione’s smell alone could soothe him while he slept.

These things really hadn’t started bothering her until Harry forgot their first year anniversary but wouldn’t shut up about Hermione’s up coming birthday for weeks. The worst part about it was that Harry hadn’t bought her a gift. In stead he brought some flowers and took her to a restaurant after she reminded him of why that that particular date was significant. Ginny knew that Harry was wretched with dates and romantic things but come on! Of course, he hadn’t failed to spend an entire day with Hermione in Muggle London for her birthday. And he bought her two gifts; around twenty new books for her extensive library and a set of beautiful ruby earrings.

The shit hit the fan after that. They began arguing over everything after their first big blow out the day after Hermione’s birthday. Ginny knew she said some pretty hurtful things that day but even her acusations didn’t change Harry’s story. He merely explained that he had been celebrating Hermione’s birthday a lot longer than he had been celebrating their previously nonexistent anniversary and that an immediate alarm went off in his head at least a month in advance of Hermione’s birthday so that he would be ready for it. Besides after all Hermione had done for him didn’t she deserve to be rewarded? Ginny didn’t think so. So what if Hermione almost got avadaded trying to protect harry in the final battle. So what if the girl had been with harry through every trial and tribulation in the past. Ginny was here for him now and that should have been enough. The argument ended with him leaving and giving her about three days to cool off.

That had been over a year ago. The only problem was that things had pretty much remained the same after that. Hermione was a constant in Harry’s life and was also a reoccurring subject in their frequent rows. Ginny knew it was over and it wouldn’t be long until Harry showed up to tell her just that. In the mean time Ginny decided to get some much needed rest, as it was already eleven o’clock at night.

“Ginevra Weasley you will replace that mug!”

Did she fail to mention that she still lived with her annoying mother who loves Harry and Hermione as if they were her own children and always takes Harry’s side? Apparently not…

--

“Good morning Mrs. Weasley! I’m so sorry about the commotion last night.” Oh no… he was here.

“Not a problem Harry dear. Let me fetch Ginny so you two can talk while I go have a spot of tea.” As soon as her mother stopped talking Ginny found herself face to face with the stern looking woman who grabbed her upper arm and practically dragged her into the sitting room.

“Harry dear, why don’t you two have your chat in the sitting room?” As the two women left, Harry and Ginny stood there not saying a word. This staring contest lasted a good five minutes before Harry broke the silence.

“Ginny.” His voice sounded so final, almost like this was the last time he expected to have a full conversation with her. And when she thought about it that might be accurate.

“Harry…” Her stare wasn’t quite matching the potency that his was and she was not looking as confidant in her actions.

“I’m going to try to be nice about this Ginny. You and I both know that this isn’t working. This relationship is dead and has been for quite a while. I know that you have realized it too. So I am asking for a mutual break up.” Ginny’s hands fisted at here sides and her eyes became narrow slits.

“No. I don’t want to break up with you.” Harry glared at her and then pinched the bridge of his nose in and exasperated manner.

“Fine then… I’m breaking up with you.” Ginny didn’t say anything for a few minutes and just watched him. She unclenched one of her fists only to reach out and clutch the table.

“Why? Is it because of her?” Harry ran a hand through his messy hair and adjusted his glasses.

“Do you want the honest truth?” Ginny looked him straight in the eye.

“Yes.” Harry seemed to stiffen up, as if getting ready for another fight, which was inevitable.

“Yes, it is because of Hermione. I have recently come to realize that I need her.” Ginny unclenched her other fist and grabbed the table with it.

“And you don’t need me? Are you telling me you don’t love me? Are you more attracted to her than me?” Harry sat in the empty chair across from her and folded his hands together.

“I honestly don’t thing your ready for me to answer that question Ginny.” She could feel the jaw clenching up but couldn’t seem to do anything about it.

“I think I will decide what I am and am not ready for Potter.” Harry let out and exasperated sigh.

“Fine, yes, to all if you must know. You wanted the truth and that is what I’ll give you. Ginny, please don’t fight with me. I’ve had enough of that. I just want to move on. I’ll even stay away from the Burrow for a while.” Ginny pointed her finger in the direction of the kitchen.

“I don’t care what mum says, you will keep Hermione away too. I’ll assume that you have asked her out.” Harry sat straight up and glared at her. This glare was a lot colder than the first one.

“I don’t think that is any of your business, Ginny.” Ginny glared right back at him and for a few minutes they sat in a stale mate. Neither one of them was willing to back down but after another few minutes of silence Ginny couldn’t take it anymore.

“I have the right to know. Did you ask her out?” She heard Harry sigh.

“No. I didn’t think it would be right to ask her out with out letting you know that we are no longer dating. And you of all people should know that Hermione would never say yes to me after we just broke up. I understand her reasoning and I respect it.” Ginny tried with all her might not to pick up the plate that was set out on the table and throw it at his head. She knew he hadn’t even brought up the subject of dating with Hermione but he still knew the girl so well that he didn’t have to ask and that in itself was infuriating.

“So that’s why you got here so early. Normally you don’t stop by until late afternoon.” Harry shrugged his shoulders.

“That was a very large part of my timing, yes.” Ginny wanted to reach across the table and strangle him.

“I hate you.” Harry let out a small dry chuckle at that. Then he gave her a very sympathetic look which she desperately wanted to wipe off his face.

“I’m sorry to hear that Ginny but that is your prerogative. I suppose I’ll be seeing you around sometime.” With that he tucked his hands into his pockets and headed towards the kitchen. Ginny heard him saying goodbye to her mum and the door shutting behind him. Her mother bustled into the sitting room.

“That was a very foolish thing to do Ginevra.” And then, quite suddenly, she was alone again.

--

Six months later things hadn’t really changed much for Ginny. Every now and then she saw Harry in passing but never so much as acknowledged him. The funny thing was that she had never seen him with anyone else, not even Hermione. Maybe she had imagined that Harry was in love with Hermione. Or better yet, maybe Hermione had no interest in Harry. She had been keeping tabs on Harry’s relational status which had remained single since they broke up. She couldn’t say the same.

Ginny was never one for remaining single for long periods of time and this was no exception. She had dated a few guys here and there and didn’t hide it from anyone. She had just broken up with her latest fling while at a casual dinner at the Leakey Caldron. So when her date left surprisingly early she finished her drink and apparated back home. She was completely surprised to find guests in the kitchen and not just any guests. They were both there having bloody tea with her mother as if nothing had changed.

Harry looked as good as ever decked out in his winter clothes. Not that Ginny wanted to admit it but Hermione looked good in her black v-neck sweater, knee high leather boots, and jeans. It was obvious by the insistance of her mothers face and the nodding of their heads that mummy dearest had just invited them to something. Ginny cleared her throat and all three heads turned to face her. That’s when she noticed that Harry and Hermione were holding hands. The two nodded to her in acknowledgement and Mrs. Weasley rose from her chair. Ginny understood Hermione’s standoffishness all too well. After the break up she had confronted Hermione and blamed her for the sour end of the relationship with Harry and needless to say neither one of them had been overly excited about renewing the friendship after what Ginny had said that day.

“Hermione, why don’t you and I go finish off our tea in the sitting room while Ginny and Harry have a quick chat.” Hermione rose from her seat next to Harry and picked up her tea. When the other two women had left Ginny took the seat across from Harry. Ginny noticed that Harry wasn’t looking at her and so she tensed up a little. Finally Harry turned towards her and folded his hands on the table.

“I hear you’ve been doing well.” So he had seen her in Diagon Alley with other men. What bothered Ginny was that it didn’t seem to be bothering him.

“I supposed you could say that. I’m going to be presumptuous and say that you are obviously doing well.” Harry grinned and looked towards the door that lead to the sitting room.

“You could say that.” Now she was getting a little aggravated. Did he not care that he was disregarding her request that he stay away from the house?

“What are you doing here?” She asked with an edge to her voice. Harry faced her again and shrugged.

“Your mum said that she wanted to speak to us and that you were out for the night. If we had known you were coming back so soon we would have left.” Obviously someone, namely Ron, had lied to her about Harry’s dating status. Ginny’s teeth clenched and she could feel her body tense up. She and Harry were now both aware that this conversation would not end well.

“What did she want?” Harry furrowed his brow for a second and then relaxed again.

“Your mum? Not much. She just wanted to invite us over for the holidays.” The man was infuriating. How was it that one person could anger her with his casual attitude so easily?

“What did you say?” Ginny knew they would be coming over for at least the majority of the holidays and was already planning her escape.

“Hermione and I will be over for Christmas Eve dinner.” Both of Ginny’s eyebrows shot up at this. Harry had always spent the whole holidays with them at the Burrow.

“Just Christmas Eve?” Harry adjusted his glasses.

“Yes, why?” After a brief pause it hit Ginny as to why he wasn’t spending the holidays at the Burrow.

“You’re going to spend the holidays at her parent’s house, aren’t you?” Harry nodded.

“As a matter of fact, I am. I think it’s high time I met them.” It was hard for her to keep her body from rising out of the seat. Her voice, on the other hand, was having more trouble staying down in both pitch and volume.

“What are you on about? You haven’t even started seriously dating yet!” Harry shrugged again and tilted his chair back just like Sirius used to do.

“I asked her to be my girlfriend about two months ago. And she’s been my best friend for longer then I have known you. Not to mention the fact that she has saved me more times than I can remember. I think it’s about time I spent some time with her parents since I don’t really know them. I met them once in Diagon Alley but that was about it.” Ginny stood up and gripped the table for support.

“You asked her to be your girlfriend? I though this was just casual dating.” Harry looked at her like she had just grown a second head.

“Well, I don’t see why you care so much Ginny. It’s not as though you haven’t been dating other people. And other then possessiveness I didn’t know you still had feelings for me. I mean you did tell me that you ‘hated me’ and that ‘we were over’ that night. I’m not an imbecile you know. When someone throws a mug at my head I pretty much get the picture.” Ginny barred her teeth and grabbed the plate that was so conveniently resting in front of her. Just as she was about to lob it at him Mrs. Weasley’s voice rang out.

“Ginevra Weasley, if you break that plate you will pay for it!” Ginny took a deep breath and lowered the plate back to the table with a shaky hand.

“Are you going to propose at Christmas?” Harry looked startled for a moment and then regained his composure.

“No, I would like us to have dated for more than six months before I do that. I was thinking that Valentines was a little clichéd but it could work or maybe I could stick it out and wait for her birthday but I’m not really sure yet.” Ginny narrowed her eyes and raised her voice again.

“That’s too soon!” Harry shrugged and shook his head.

“I want children Ginny. I want a big family and so does she. I know that I’m still young but I want a family of my own.” That had been the topic of another one of their big blow outs; children. Ginny, having come from a large family, wasn’t too keen on the idea of having four or five kids. Harry on the other hand wanted as many as he could get. When Harry told her this she refused saying that she would have no more than one child, if she had any at all. Needless to say Harry was quite thrown by the idea of not having any kids.

“So you know for a fact that Hermione wants a Weasley load of kids? How do you know she’ll even be a good mother?” Harry’s voice got very strained and the muscle in his jaw was starting to tick.

“We have been best friends for over nine years. I know everything about her. No one else on the planet knows her better than me. And I’m not asking for a Weasley load of kids. I’m asking for my first born to have a sibling or two. And I know she’ll be a great mother just like she’ll be a wonderful wife. I lo-” Harry was interrupted by Ginny’s scream.

“Don’t say it. Get out! GET OUT!” Harry stood up from his chair and backed up to the door leading into the sitting room.

“Fine, Ginny. Mione, its time to go.” Ginny watched as her mother and Hermione came back into the kitchen. Mrs. Weasley turned to Harry and Hermione and wrapped them both in a tight embrace.

“Good bye, dears. I’ll come over and visit you tomorrow, Hermione, for a spot of tea. I’ll expect you to be there as well, Harry.” Harry grabbed Hermione’s hand and began to head out the back door. They seemed to have taken Harry's flying motorcycle to get to the Burrow.

“Of course, Mrs. Weasley. We’ll see you then.” As soon as the couple had walked out the door Mrs. Weasley turned to address her daughter.

“Ginevra, you will stop trying to kill Harry with my china and you will be civil to them on Christmas Eve. Is that understood?” Ginny nodded her head and then began to trudge back up the steps to her room.

“Yes mother.” As she was rounding the corner to the hall she heard her mother talking to her father who had just gotten home.

“Harry and Hermione make such a wonderful couple… and she’s such a lovely girl.”

That was it for Ginny Weasley. It was official. Hermione Granger was the root of all evil.
