Eyes of Glass, Hearts of Ice

Mika hates the dolls now: she had loved them when she was younger but not now and never again. They scare her, the dolls, with their skin of porcelian and eyes of glass. She thinks the dolls are much like that in themseleves: they are beautiful, yes, but they are terrifying. They would have hearts of ice and souls of stone, cold and unfeeling just like they are in themselves.

Still no matter how much she hates them, Mika will still carve them, make them until they are as close to perfection as they ever could be. She never sees them as perfect though; they are never perfect, simply twisted echos of perfection. Their faces masks of torment, their smiles nothing more than macabre parodies of human emotion.

There will always be darkness in the dolls now, a darkness that will never leave. But still Mika will carve these parodies of life, these frozen porcelain children. Mika will never stop carving these girls with eyes of glass and hearts of ice: she is one of them now and she hates everything she has become. She will always be frozen in a cold, twisted silence, no matter how hard she tries to hide it.
