The dark-haired girl placed a porcelain cat figure upon the table standing innocently in front of the white-and-black haired teen. He placed a few rough fingers around the neck of it and picked it up. In the dim light, he could barely make out its bright orange color and dark eyes glazed on.
"Kyo Sohma... such a soft looking likeness of him. I can almost feel him purring."
"Kyo-kun doesn't purr," the dark-haired girl said, "because he's never quite at ease with himself. Even with Tohru-kun there now, there are wounds that would never heal."
She felt a tear fall from her right eye, and bent her head away from him, not wanting to show her weakness.
"I... thought I could heal the wounds. That didn't quite happen, and... I made things worse." She continued, her voice was weak. "But... I think he'll maybe, just maybe feel more at ease if I leave this on his doorstep."
The black-and-white haired boy smiled. "Watch that Sensei doesn't step on it, and make your hard work go to waste."
The dark-haired girl smiled. "Thanks, Haru-chan."
She took the sculpture out of his hand.
"Same time tomorrow night then, Kagura-chan?"
Haru smiled smoothly as he said this, his eyes very calm and soft. He couldn't say it to Kagura, but he envied Kyo.
He envied Kyo because Kagura loved him so much. Kagura would never show the same affection to anybody else but Kyo. But her soft eyes, her light voice, her mood swings, everything else about her that was admirable, and not-so-admirable, it made him feel so happy.
"I don't understand... why Kyo doesn't see how much you care for him." Haru blurted out.
"He sees it, Haru-chan. I guess, ever since that awful day, the day truth was revealed and fear hit me like a tsunami, he's been afraid. I have to love him, Haru. I just have to."
With that, Kagura put her Kyo backpack on and carried the porcelain figure out of the room.
"Good night, Haru-chan. See you tomorrow night."
Haru watched as she wandered out, but he couldn't bring himself to let her leave.
"Kagura-chan..." Haru said, catching Kagura's attention.
"What?"
"I know you'll find somebody soon, if you just open your mind. Maybe another guy will hold your hand someday, and love you just as much as you love him." Haru said, hoping for the best.
Kagura walked back over to him, and took his hand in her own.
"Maybe... maybe someday soon." Kagura mouthed silently to herself as she let go of his fingers and began walking back out.
"Someday soon." Haru said to himself, before turning away to lay in his bed.
