Disclaimer: I don’t own Animal Crossing or Animal Crossing Wild World. Nintendo owns them both. I only own a copy of both games, Amethyst, and her family. I also own this plot.
A/N: I hope everyone likes this story. I’m willing to accept all advice I get and please no flames. So anyway, R&R and enjoy.
Life in Jewelton
Preparation
It was December 31st and the Gem household was busy doing two things at once. They were preparing for the countdown and for Amethyst’s leave. She was to leave tomorrow morning.
“Amethyst, do you have to leave in the morning at 8 o’clock? Why can’t you wait a few more days? Why leave on New Year’s?” questioned Gared, Amethyst’s younger brother. (A/N: BTW, in case you didn’t notice, Gared is named for Garnet. I feel Garnet is a girl name so that’s why he’s named Gared.)
“I have to leave at 8, because that’s the earliest train and I want to be on it. I’m not going to wait a few more days, because I feel that if you want to get the full experience out of a new place, you should start at the beginning of the year. I just told you why leave on New Year’s. Are you happy now?”
“No. I’m not happy at all. Why can’t I move to another town?”
“You’re not old enough, that's why. Now leave your sister alone and help us bring her bags downstairs,” stated Mr. Gem.
“Besides, Gared, with Amethyst gone you have a whole other room all to yourself. It can be your own personal game room or whatever you want it to be,” Mrs. Gem said trying to comfort her sulking son. “Isn’t that what you always wanted?”
“Yea I guess so,” Gared sighed.
“Don’t worry little bro, I will send you a letter at least once a month. Ok?”
“Ok, I guess.” After everything settled down with Gared and he stopped sulking, the rest of Amethyst bags were brought down. She had many bags and none of them was furniture. She just had a lot of stuff. She packed up everything she had in her room, except for the furniture. Her mom had somewhat begged her to take the furniture also, but Amethyst said that if she had to live on her own she would learn to start from scratch. Nevertheless, she didn’t want the things her parents bought her to go to waste so she decided to take it with her.
After all that, the Gem family settled down for the New Year’s countdown. The countdown was to happen in one hour. Mr. Gem brought out wine for his wife and him and apple cider for the children. Then they played Sorry with teams. It was the kids against the parents.
55 minutes later…
“WE WON! WE WON!” shouted Gared so that the neighbors all around could hear him.
“It was a close game, Mom and Dad, but we still came out on top.”
“You too have been practicing. That’s how you won,” explained Mr. Gem.
“No. We’re just good like that, dad.”
“I think you two cheated.”
“You’re just mad because you lost to a 10 and 8 year old. It’s totally understandable. I would be mad if my children beat me too.”
“You think you’re funny, don’t you? Come here, you.” After he said this, he chased her around the house and tickled her when he caught her. Mrs. Gem and Gared were busy putting the game away.
“If Amethyst is only 10, how does that make her old enough?” Gared asked.
“She is responsible, that’s why. Besides, she won’t be there by herself. There will be lots of responsible adults there to watch over her and make sure she is on her best behavior,” Mrs. Gem explained.
“Hey, everyone! The countdown is about to start!” Amethyst exclaimed. Therefore, everyone sat down and watched the countdown. Mr. Gem stood over to the side waiting to pop the cork on the champagne bottle once the countdown hit zero.
“10, 9, 8, 7…” shouted the people on TV. The Gems were counting down too.
“3, 2, 1 Happy New Year’s!” shouted everyone on the TV and the Gem kids. Mr. Gem popped the cork and caught it.
“Yahoo! It’s New Year’s! It’s New Year’s!”
“Children, calm down,” pleaded Mrs. Gem. Afterward, they gave thanks for another year, had their drinks, and the children were tucked in. Gared had bunk beds in his room since many of their male cousins come over to spend the night. That is were Amethyst slept for the night. Amethyst slept, dreaming about her new life in Jewelton.
