He’s lost inside

Inside his own mind

Held prisoner by his misery and doubt.

He’s silent these days

And impervious to the sun’s warming rays.

He’s distanced from all he loves.

His silence echoes loud and clear

Spreading guilt and causing tears.

Everyone just wants the old him back.

But he’s lost inside

Inside his own mind

Held prisoner by his misery and doubt.

Physical bonds are no longer needed

His mind has already seen to it.

It’ll take a lot to set him free.

Now it seems like he’s just an empty shell

His soul hidden deeper than the dark recesses of hell.

He may never be exactly the same.

For he’s lost inside

Inside his own mind

Held prisoner by his misery and doubt.
