Title: Peanut Butter and Oreos
Rating: G
Prompt Set: 50.1
Prompt: 038. Knots
Summary: Hermione is unbearable at times and her only refuge is her peanut butter and secret stash of Oreos.
Even in the magical realm there's some things one can't erase, no matter how many potions, charms, or spells they make or cast. Nature, happens to fall into that category and much like the muggle world, there's no reprieve for a wizard when his witch gets her monthly visitor.
"Gah," Hermione rolled over on her stomach, slamming her fist into her pillow.
"Vhat is vrong," Viktor inquired about her frustration from the safety of the doorway.
"I feel like crap," Hermione mumbled.
"Vhat can I do to make you feel better," Viktor said, venturing to sit on the edge of the bed.
"A hysterectomy," Hermione replied, pulling the covers over her head.
"Vill go get some potion," Viktor pulled the covers off her head and kissed Hermione on her forehead. Viktor was no idiot, he knew exactly what was wrong with his normally chipper wife. He felt terrible for her, because there was honestly nothing he could do to help but wait it out with her.
"Thank you," Hermione grumbled, taking the small cup Viktor had poured the clear potion into. She drank it quickly and handed the cup back to him.
"Massage help," Viktor dared to suggest. Hermione was normally at drastically different ends of the spectrum, she didn't want to be touched one minute to all but jumping inside of Viktor's clothes with him the next and cuddling with him.
"No. Leave me alone to die," Hermione grunted. Viktor turned to leave the room, "and don't forget to turn off the light and close the door."
Viktor knew in an hour or two when she woke back up Hermione would be in a better mood, but only after rummaging through the pantry finding peanut butter and her secret stash of Oreos. Viktor chuckled at how absurd her eating habits were and sat her snacks out on the cabinet for her. He decided his time would best be spent trying to prepare a relaxing evening in attempt to make the night at least somewhat bearable once she ran out of Oreos. Looking at the huge stack of movies Hermione had insisted on bringing back from the trip to her parent's house, Viktor began to fumble through the cases, attempting to make some sort of elimination process. He grunted and put all the cases back in order. It was absolutely impossible for him to pick a movie that didn't run the risk of being thrown at his head later. Viktor picked up one of the magazines Ginny had sent Hermione and began to read.
An article about the proper preparation of meat loaf and Hermione emerged from her den.
"Oreos," she gasped, grabbing them off the counter with the peanut butter, "thank you," Hermione kissed Viktor on the cheek.
"Are you feeling better," he questioned, figuring he should get as much civil conversation in before her mood changed again.
"The knots in my stomach are gone," Hermione replied between huge bites of her Oreo peanut butter sandwiches, "for now."
"Is anything I can do to keep them avay?"
She shook her head and continued her snacking. Sooner than Hermione would have liked she was down to her last Oreo and she gave a sigh, shoving the cookie in her mouth.
"Viktor," Hermione began, "I know I'm unbearable, so when all this is over," she said, laying in his lap, "I'm going to be extra nice to you."
"Not unbearable," Viktor chuckled, "almost though."
"Viktor! That's not nice! Blame it on my hormones, I can't control them," Hermione defended.
"Vill be like this vhen ve haff baby," Viktor questioned with a chuckle, bringing up a topic he knew made Hermione happy no matter what the circumstances.
"Even worse."
"Vill need more peanut butter and Oreos."
