“Miss Kaya!” I hear Merry’s familiar voice call. Turning back to my journal, I continue to write. It has been three years since Usopp left the village, and things have been rather dull. The three boys, Pepper, Onion, and Carrot are now twelve, and have been trying to be as much like Usopp as possible. While they can run screaming through town just as he did, but their tall tales are rather lacking. I hear Merry enter the room, and putting down my pen, I turn to greet my faithful servant. “Yes, what is it Merry?” I ask with a smile. “A package arrived for you in the mail.” He replies. “Oh, who from?” I ask, adjusting my position. “It doesn’t say, would you like me to-“ “No Merry, that wont be necessary.” I say, getting up and reaching for the package. Merry then bows and exits my room. Walking with it to my desk, I close my journal, and set the package down.
There is nothing special about the rapping, nor is it exceedingly heavy. Upon removing the brown paper rapping, I find a book with an astonishing title. “The Complete Adventures of the Great Captain Usopp” it reads. Sitting down hard, I stare with wide eyes at the cover. If I had not been so surprised, I would have gone to get Usopp’s former “pirate crew”, but instead, I simply begin to read. Chapter 1: Sails on the horizon…
Dear Journal, August 2
It has now been three weeks after I received Usopp’s book, and I simply cannot stop reading. In fact, I am about half way through! This book is filled with joy and sorrow, love, courage, anger, and fear; but above all, friendship. Well, I must get back to reading!
Dear Journal, August 23
Forgive me for not writing for so long. I got so caught up in reading Usopp’s book that I’ve never had any time. Speaking of which, after six weeks of reading, at last, I am on the final chapter! There is a short Epilogue, but I can’t wait to read the ending.
Dear Journal, August 29
I am crying as I write this. I have finished the book, including the Epilogue, but the final words of the Epilogue are what cause me to cry. They are these. “And so, I, Monkey D. Luffy, end my Marksman and friend, Usopp’s book, for he lived not long enough to see it finished.”
Dropping my pen, and shutting my journal, I bury my face in my hands and grieve.
